He was hell for leather for it at the start of the year but Bin Hammam has cooled his jets recently claiming he won't run and will back Blatter. It's looking more than likely that Blatter will keep a stranglehold on power for another four years.

Could well have been part of an agreement to get the WC to Qatar
The most disappointing, yet unsurprising, thing is that FIFA were unable to show any integrity throughout the process. Eliminating us because of an attack on FIFA by the press did not punish the media as much as it did our bidding team and, more importantly, the people of England who did no wrong and continue to feed their money and interest into the sport.
It has to be said though, we're really poor losers.
How did they benefit again? Oh right they didn't. .
It has to be said though, we're really poor losers.
They obviously did both. But many on hear don't want to accept it. They'd rather cling to the false idea that the press were being noble and just doing their job. When nothing those cretins did was in the public interest of any public in existence. The only leg Chief has to stand on is if one of the following two scenarios happen:
1) the press deliberately wait until the worst possible time to show a story they have been sitting on for a while to get the maximum ratings
or
2) they make up things, exaggerate or make a big deal of old news just for ratings when the rubbish they are reporting will be a negative for an 'innocent' party.
......

That is because you've wholeheartedly bought into the illusion that your press did a noble thing. Which is your fault entirely.FIFA might have thought it was malicious, yes.....then again it's quite understandable for some criminals to think people are being malicious, particularly when someone chooses to call them corrupt and "out" one or two of their fellow gang members. That's sometimes how people think when they believe they should be above the law. (I'm not following the reasoning of the rest of your examples I'm afraid).
What's there to wait for? England didn't get the world cup. The press got their headlines in before that to their benefit and are now reaping even more from fueling the bitterness the English public feels towards FIFA for the failure of the bid. It happening right before your eyes but your aren't not recognizing it at all! We'll just have to sit tight and wait and see on that one won't we.
1000%All the presses fault then Chief?.
Not at all the fault of the FIFA members?.
They didn't prove squat! Neither were they proven right in any shape or form. All they did was sting 2 fellows who were set to vote for England and make a lot of unproven (and most probably even false) allegations against a host of others. One guy the made unproven allegations against dint' take it personally. The rest were clearly not as forgiving. They proved corruption and wanted to prove that backhanders win you a WC, I'd say they were proved dead right!.
1000%
Because of those self centered arseholes folks like me set to go to Russia to be racially abused just to watch a world cup live.

Maybe p_ps_sock's last post will get you understand even a bit of why I'm so pissed off with your media.
Truthfully, you've just got to be one huge wum here.1000%

Look at the bigger picture Chief. Then you will see. Stop moaning about the press....the point they were making that you are not seeing was that we had already lost the bid because the host country is not decided on merit. FIFA has other criteria for deciding the WC hosts, criteria that are not acceptable to us and so many other countries. The press were showing the world before the vote so that the world knew. What's there to wait for? England didn't get the world cup. Good press or bad press chief, that World Cup was always going to Russia.
Firstly, I'm not looking forward to be racially abused in Russia. & it's thank to them that I'll probably have to endure that to catch the world cup live. Why should you be pissed off with our media. Surely it's us that suffers not you..
They've done no such thing. They instead went out of their way to make it next to impossible for England to win the bid. Then kept claiming England were clear favorites at the same time. Now the same lot are championing the '''Get us out of FIFA'' brigade.Look at the bigger picture Chief. Then you will see. Secondly, the mere fact people want me to believe what they did was for my interests as a fan, the betterment of the sport that I love dearly, and for noble reasons. When what they did was totally the opposite of that.

They didn't care about the England bid one bit. All they've cared about from the start is their headlines. Not the world game, the world's football fans nor the British public at large. Right now they've got what they wnted all along.
Nothing they did when they opened their traps and now is going to help the global game in any shape or form.
Rather I believe it goes to those who have stuck to the rules of politics. Not those who think they can break them and still succeed just because they have merit on their side.So do you believe that the WC goes to the most worthy hosts with the best bid? Surely you aint THAT naive Chief...

The biggest losers from FIFA's decision to award the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals to Russia and Qatar are football fans.
The shadowy FIFA executive has selected the two bidding hosts with the lowest technical scores from their own analysis. In other words, FIFA has selected the hosts with the least favourable facilities for football fans.
For 2018 FIFA had the option of selecting England, Spain/Portugal, Netherlands/Belgium and Russia. A World Cup in England or Spain/Portugal and, to a lesser extent, Netherlands/Belgium would have been a dream ticket for football fans. They are all very popular destinations in their own right, have substantial tourist and transport infrastructure and are amongst the safest locations on the planet.
The response from football fans to a World Cup in England or Spain and Portugal would have been similar to, if not greater than, the World Cup in Germany in 2006. The 2006 World Cup finals attracted 1.3 million foreign visitors. For Australia the 60,000 fans who flew to Germany for the 2006 World Cup was the largest ever movement of its civilian population in its history.
Controversially FIFA took the 2010 World Cup to South Africa. In its bidding documents South Africa projected it would receive 700,000 visitors. Subsequently this was reduced to 500,000 and then slashed to 370,000. In the end 270,000 foreign visitors attended the 2010 World Cup Finals - less than 20% of the number that attended Germany in 2006.
FIFA and South Africa have projected the 2010 World Cup tournament as as success. Logistically the tournament did go ahead without any material hitches however, in truth, the tournament was a comprehensive failure. The fans simply did not turn up.
Fast forward to the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russia. How many football fans will head over to Russia? It would be reasonable to expect an improvement on visitor numbers on the very low levels set by South Africa however it will not be in the same ball park as would have been achieved had England or Spain/Portugal hosted the tournament.
Fast forward to the 2022 World Cup Finals in Qatar. This tournament will be effectively hosted in the middle of a desert with almost inhuman 50c temperatures. Who is going to make the long and expensive trip to Qatar to move between an air-conditioned stadium and an air-conditioned hotel room? There will be none of the public festivities that made Germany such a memorable World Cup finals - it is simply too hot in Qatar.
The truth is very few football fans will go the 2022 World Cup Finals in Qatar. In 12 years time football fans will have the choice of:
a)Watching the World Cup finals in air-conditioned stadiums then retreating to their air conditioned hotel rooms.
b)Watching the World Cup finals in the comfort of their air-conditioned lounge rooms, with family and friends, drinking cold beer without restriction and watching the game on their thin-film 3D television wall in super high definition.
Television technology is moving ahead quickly. By 2022 super high definition 3D television will be old hat. Television screens will probably be thin film technology and will cover the full wall of a lounge room. There is also the prospect that holographic television may be available in this time frame with this technology underpinning Japan's 2022 bid.
Qatar, with its hostile desert climate, with its lack of natural and cultural attractions, with its isolated location and with its self imposed behavioral restrictions is not an attractive destination for football fans. Most football fans will stay away and Qatar will struggle to achieve the visitor lows of South Africa 2010.
Qatar 2022 will be a bonanza for broadcasters who are arguably the most influential lobby group and the source of much of the alleged financial corruption within FIFA. Qatar's time zone is very favourable for the key television markets. Football fans will stay home boosting the number of television viewers. All the game locations will be in close proximity simplifying the television logistics. All the venues and supporting training facilities will be the equivalent of large air-conditioned television studios. The 2022 tournament will the first tournament truly designed for television.
The irony of it all is that many of the FIFA executive committee that selected Qatar wont be around in 2022 to see the outcome of their questionable decision making. Nor will these same unaccountable FIFA barons be concerned because by 2022 they will have had many years of enjoying the substantial sums they have been gifted.
The true owners of football are football fans. In awarding the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals the FIFA executive have completely ignored the best interests of the true owners of the world game. Football fans are the big losers from these questionable decisions and it seems the big winners are the bank accounts of the FIFA executive committee members and FIFA itself.
Ooooh Wow, you actually ARE THAT naive.
What. The football fans in the middle East don't count as fans? Is that it?Did FIFA care about the fans when selecting Qatar? My fecking arse they did.
If you get racially abused in Russia it'll be the fault of whoever is abusing you. No-one else. Can't believe though that anyone could make a comment like that and really expect it to be taken seriously.Firstly, I'm not looking forward to be racially abused in Russia. & it's thank to them that I'll probably have to endure that to catch the world cup live.
What. The football fans in the middle East don't count as fans? Is that it?
Me naive? What! Am I the one claiming the British press 'stood up to the corrupt"
has done ''their bit''
for the 'good of the game''
and ''public interest''?
And that they are not so obviously benfitting right now from headlines from the outcome of their actions?
....and you don't see anything fundementally wrong with what you have written above?Rather I believe it goes to those who have stuck to the rules of politics. Not those who think they can break them and still succeed just because they have merit on their side.
It has to be said though, the press were right all along.
We never stood a chance, backhanders win you the rights not a god bid. Can't believe anyone is blaming the press for giving the World a heads up on what was about to happen.
UEFA should break free, give us a WC with more deserving teams in the thing, more European teams, and HARDER qualification for the America's, it pretty darn impossible for the US, Brazil and Argentina NOT to qualify from their groups. At the same time we have teams like Ireland coming second to 4 times WC winners Italy only to be handed an easy play-off against France
The whole system is a joke.
And don't get me started on goal-line technology.
Is Rubbery still persisting with his buffoonery?
The truth is FIFA give even less of a feck about you the fan than the press..
Yes. Because there is no political process on earth in which merit alone wins. As long as voting is involved politics is involved.....and you don't see anything fundementally wrong with what you have written above?.
I don't have to happily accept the consequences that have been precipitated by your egotistic and selfish press. While people stick to using politics, or corruption, as the basis for their selection then you and others like you, will have to endure racist or unbearably hot venues and happily accept the consequences. After all it's your choice of selection criteria isn't it so best grit your teeth and stop moaning.
I just love the fact he's so passionate about his beliefs, even though without fail on football matters, they're absolutely garbage. Even when his argument is by ripped to pieces page after page, it only hardens his resolution that he was right all along
The Rubberman is a precious gift to this forum, and we should never forget that
I never said you did. However almost all of those supporting your position in this thread have said all those things I've listed. They also believe them 100% too.Don't remember saying that.
You are still being naive though, FIFA don't give a feck about you "the fan".

We then have the arrogant, clueless FA going to a WC presentation expecting FIFA to bow down to our “slick” presentation and then totally blaming the corrupt FIFA when we didn’t win.
