And here's a picture of him beside Rio, who is 6" taller than Casillas.

Photos, eh?
Rio is only 4 inches taller than Casillas. And my picture of DDG and Casillas shows them both side by side, DDG is marginally taller.

Casillas is 6"
De Gea is possibly just about 6'1 at a touch.
If he was taller he would've saved that shot yesterday.

It's more annoying the fact that some morons on here think that because wiki-fecking-pedia says he's 6,4 then he must be, when clearly he's not.
It's fairly possible he'll grow a bit, since he's only 20.
Pogue, what height do you reckon he is as a matter of interest?

Side by side with Carrick. Shorter than him, IMO.
There is your problem. If you can't see from looking at him beside the rest of our team mates that he is not 6'4", you are either blind, or stupid. I think we can rule out the blind part.
So you think the picture below is misleading? Yeah, maybe DDG is kneeling down. You should really calm down a bit.
it's not just wikipedia stating he's 6,4. It's as misleading to judge his height based on photos.
I'd say 6'1 to 6'2 - possibly closer to 6'2.
That's decent height for a goal keeper anyway

And a good bit of inches shorter than Berbatov, who's 6.2.
He looks about the same height at Welbeck in the above photo - who's 6.1.

Well he's not smaller than Berb anyway, that's for sure. It's impossible to fully tell via photos and stats can be wrong, but he's probably not as tall as I thought and as small as you thought. 6,2 would be about right it looks like.
Either way, they're no need to call people morons for the sake of his height.
Yes, that's not the issue here. The point is, he's not the size he's made out to be. And SAF made him out to a big a very tall keeper like Edwin.
"He's a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence and an outstanding replacement for van der Sar.
"We were looking for the same type of qualities as Edwin, because the one great quality Edwin always had was his composure and organisational ability.
"With David De Gea, he is very similar that way."
"Replacing Edwin van der Sar is very difficult," said Ferguson. "He was a great goalkeeper.
"But the benefit we have with De Gea is that he is only 20.The qualities that stood out for us are his great composure and use of the ball.
"He is quick and agile, which is something we banked on. When we assessed him I thought he was the right goalkeeper to take."
He did?
He's talked about his athleticism and his composure, not his height.
Yeah he did, I saw an interview where he said it, I'm sure someone can confirm.
You do know that one interview you posted is not the only time he's mentioned De Gea do you, Pogue?
“When we were scouting De Gea, we dismissed his age and focused on what qualities he could bring and he has a lot going for him.
“At the moment, he hasn’t got a great physique, he’s tall and wiry but we will work on that.”
Just for the record, pointing out that he clearly isn't 6'4" isn't citicising him. Wiki have it wrong, and so do the dummies who use it as a source.
I do hope he adds mass to his body, just to add to his presence. I am sure he will, he is only 20. His distribution looks to be fantastic already, and I have no worries over his kicking. Excited to see more of him. A few clean sheets, which I am certain will come, will increase his confidence.
You're right, but I think thats part of the bedding in process he is going to go through this season. It was a great cross, and even so the majority of balls put into that area are going to be dealt with by Rio or Vidic.Disagree.
Personally, I think he should have come for it.
So he's an overated midget now?

We'll see a few dozen goals just like that in the PL this season.
