CAF GRU Rep
Apparently Arsene Wenger has now got involved in these riots..................

guardian home page have a live feed as to BBC. He is just increasing policing numbers and recalling parliament for 1 day. Joke.
Really? Old enough to know right from wrong....feck em.
Im from the UK, I dont live there anymore and I can tell you I am very thankful for that, esepcially when I see the state it is in at the minute.
One of the rioter's twitter account: Twitter
We both know the latter is true. Is this because the "shits" gene is somehow more prevalent in people born into poverty? Or is because of, perhaps, the environment they grow up in?
i agree with you in some waysThese 16-25 olds have opportunities that billions would die for. They want it now and dint to work for it. I said a while back their should be parenting licenses I think only Dwayne agreed.

I've never seen anything like this in my time.
I'm amazed at how it's snowballed.
Police in a real catch-twenty-two situation. Look how the country has kicked off, stemming from a man being shot at the weekend. They can't really risk fighting fire with fire, for risk of exacerbating the situation.
Sad, sad state of affairs. The looters should feel thoroughly ashamed.
Its their reaction to the environment they grow up in.
The well off often dont need to resort to crime but they share the same materialistic sense of entitlement as those in poorer areas, they have other means of getting what they want though.
Studies into impact of materialistic attitudes on interpersonal relationships show that they result in anger, violence, inability to deal with stress and a host of other factors. The studies I've read crossed social and racial divides and had over 8000 subjects.
Attitudes are similar, reactions are sometimes governed by environment.
So in poorer areas the end results are more obvious, crime, whereas in more well off areas other factors come into play, depression, mental ill health.
The question is, if we tackle the root causes, attitudes to parenting being one which crosses most divides, are we better off than tackling the end results?

While the majority are kids, I can't help but feel a few opportunist adults will be partly involved. I think it's dangerous to exclude them in situations like this because there is no focus on adults and therefore theres a blind spot there

They're spread far too thinly and the little bolloxes doing all of this know this fine well
You all seem to be missing the point that this can be about consumerism and social exclusion.
It's the former that drives these kids to break into shops rather than government building but the latter that creates hordes of disenfranchised youths who spend their life accustomed to lawlessness and violence and have nothing to lose by going on a rampage.
As I said a few posts back, consumerism is endemic amongst all strata of contemporary society but the kids running amok all live in the poorest, most run-down parts of London. Coincidence?
Do you actually think changing attitudes to parenting is more of an issue here than social inequality?
Irrespective of how we rank these causes, which one do you think would be the easier to tackle?
There is plenty of video footage to be found of men who easily look in their mid 30's cycling around on bikes like utter knobs, in full support of this.
This whole thing is going to have massive repercussions because it is going to completely inspire mindless morons. It's been a very sad weekend for UK society
I see where you're coming from Pogue, but am I wrong in thinking that there has been looting going on in relatively affluent areas such as Clapham?
The UK Home Secretary
You guys are fecking shit, this bitch was the same during the Student Riots, no answers to actual questions, and even less in terms of action. Also not criticizing individual officers, but riot containment planning by the relevant authorities is laughable.
I'm not saying police should go in, crack skulls and fire off rubber bullets.
But I've seen no water cannons or tear gas, third world countries handle much larger demonstrations/lawlessness in a more coherent and coordinated manner.
It's like the police are completely toothless.
How many police are actually being deployed whilst all this is going on? Are they stretched to the limit?
Can they not get support from other nearby counties if so?
Christ we had 5000 police on duty for the Royal Wedding.
Thanks Frosty.
Just asking because I have a few friends in the police up here and they are more than willing to travel.
The message that has been sent ou by the police is the worst thing of the lot. Ransack and steal what you want, then set things alight and we will just watch.
The cops sitting back has literally gobsmacked me.
You are right, but a presence that large should deter some of those little cnuts off. The problem is even if there are 20,000 of them, and they are passive, not much will change. I've no idea why they haven't used the kettling method as of yet.
Your right it is not that simple and where are these extra 10,000 Police coming from.
Dont blame jobs!
Blame bad parenting
You can't have parenting licenses, it's completely impractical, there'd be a population crash.
A lot of points that have been raised today in this article below. A good read actually..
Panic on the streets of London « Futile Democracy
watching a women being interview on Sky now and she just said , they are teenagers and dont know what they are doing .
UTTER BOLLOCKS they know exactly what they are doing.
There has always been social inequality, there is social inequality across the world, there are far less opportunities across the world and far more poverty. This generation of Britons have far more afforded to them than any other in history.
I put it down to discipline, corporal punishment is pretty much banned, school teachers are unable to punish and find it terribly difficult to expell anyone, the police are unable to use force, the courts are too lenient and prisons too amicable, and parents have became far too protective of their children with regard to schools and the police. We need to completely rethink the criminal justice system.
i dont think there would be a population crash when you look at it as things stand some parts of the world are overcrowded, and to me some of those people should not be allowed to procreate without consent, any oul eejit can come to a party but only a selection are considered a good host
I'm concerned that tonight things are going to get wildly out of control, and there doesn't sound like many safeguards to stop that. Increasing police presence means nothing, not if they have their hands-tied.
I'm almost certain that I'll see this in MK tonight.

I fully agree but like it or not watching kids rob shops and watching it sends out the message that all the cops are gonna do is sit back and watch it.What bollocks. What do you want the Police to do?
The country has crippled the Police Service
Sorry, I know this is off-topic but I have a one-track mind - was 'fine well' a typo or is that an idiom in Irish English?
If I were the Government I would be putting pressure on Twitter to suspend all service to UK IP addresses and Blackberry to suspend their messaging service.
In troublesome hotspots, the police should be given the authority to shutdown mobile telephone masts.
My God. You have to be a parody.
First it's immigration, now it's the end of corporal punishment. Amazing.
