Berbatov | Fulham player

I can just not understand how a United fan can be so hard on a player who helped us to no 19, with such a signicant contribution. You even had to qualify his scoring record as joint top scorer.

Because I expect more from him, nothing more untoward than that.
As for the top scorer thing, that was just the truth.

He has been doing that for ages. Somehow claimed that somebody said berbatov won the league for us, when nobody said that. He is amazingly tedious both in the criticism of Berba and in defending of you know who.

Stop making stuff up, please quote where I claimed this!

Or are you talking utter shite again?

Ok, so what comes between decent and great?

I use "decent" all the time, for example, if see a hot girl I tend to turn to a mate and say "decent" ;-)

Reckon you're taking the word decent far too harshly.

I reckon so. Put it down to a misunderstanding.

Clairvoyant are we? or do you have no idea what on earth a FACT is?
We don't know that we wouldn't have won more if we never hired SAF, we don't even know if the sun will rise tomorrow. None of these are facts in your strict sense, but you wouldn't mock someone who called these claims facts for pretending to be clairvoyant. Of course there are degrees, we feel a lot more certain that we wouldn't reach 19 in 2011 already had we not had SAF than we do that we'd not have won the league last year without Berbatov. However, to roll eyes at someone, call them Rafa and clairvoyant for making a rather mild but debatable claim doesn't make you look clever, it makes you look like a twat without arguments.

It's certainly a deluded argument to state anything as FACT, when it isn't actually fact.

All the name calling and smiley faces in the World don't change that.

Berba didn't win us the league, Berba didn't "rescue" our season, Berba played a part, a decent part. Why on Earth you lot are so insistent on making it out to be more than what it was is a mystery.

He hardly did a Ronaldo in 07-08 did he? or a Cantona in '96. He spent most of the second half of the season as 3rd choice if my memory serves.

To conclude, you're all nuts, and it aint changing anytime soon.

Its clear that you were implying that somebody said Berbatov won us the league, anyway this is all getting a bit silly now. Its two am in the morning and I'm arguing regarding Berbatov here. So I'm gonna stop.

It's really not clear, I put people claims in these "..", have a look ;)

Anzhi Makhachkala plot move for Dimitar Berbatov - report - ESPN Soccernet

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is the latest player being targeted by newly-rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, according to reports.

Berbatov, 30, has played just five times for United this season after being left out of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad for last season's Champions League decider against Barcelona. The striker's agent, Emil Danchev, has now suggested the Russian club could make a £15 million bid for the Bulgarian during the January transfer window.

"We would be interested when Anzhi make a concrete offer," Danchev told the Mirror. "We will sit down with Dimitar and ponder this. I don't know if Dimitar is happy in Manchester. He plays, then he just sits on the bench."

Berbatov's contract with the reigning Premier League champions expires at the end of this season, adding to the possibility of United selling him in January. Anzhi, meanwhile, have signed the likes of Roberto Carlos, Yuri Zhirkov and Samuel Eto'o since being taken over by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov.

Oh and for the record. I don't think Berba will be sold before the end of the season if at all. Him, Giggsy, Park and the likes will carry us in the second half of the season, when experience will mean everything. And who knos, he might actually win us the title then

Exactly. Over the course of a season the whole team is used. The first half of last season Berbatov and Valencia pretty much dragged us through games. Eventually Nani and Rooney took over after Xmas.

If we don`t sell him before the end of the season, he walks on a free

I like Berba, and I think that if Rooney gets hurt, he is one of the few options we have to play that role. However, 15 million for a player with 6 months left on the contract (and who knows, he may be refusing to sign a new contract/we haven't offered him money he think he is worth) isn't that bad of a deal.

If he was to leave, I just hope he goes to Italy. I think he would flourish there

Rooney? Double standards?

Rooney is our best player mate, and has proved this season after season. He is also one of the best (p)layers in the world. A dry spell isn't enough to drop him. So yes, I suppose one of the best players in the world gets slightly better treatment. Like a doubling of wages after holding the club to ransom.

this could be the beginning of the end for berba though i hope he stays

If this story is true, you would refuse £15m for our 30 year old, out of favour striker? Really?

in terms of shrewd business hell no but in other terms yes. I still think he could have a good impact here. Imagine if we had sold him last year when rooney was out of form

Berbatov did well to step up last season when Rooney was out of form, but I still think that Hernandez would have been enough, I'm also not so sure that Welbeck would have been loaned out.

But what does the possible consequences of us selling him last summer have to do with the coming January?

I'm sorry but Berbatov and Valencia did not "drag us through games". Nani was excellent at the start of last year, as was Vidic, VDS, Scholes & Hernandez.

Think you've mixed Valencia and Nani up there.

And I disagree that anyone "dragged us through games" last season, no-one was that good.

He hasn't managed it for the past 3 seasons, what makes you think it'll happen this year?

I never liked Berba as a player altough I appreciete his talent. However I don't think that we have treated him fairly in the past few months to be honest

People had the same argument with Tevez, it's a tried argument for me, Berbatov certainly has the talent to force his way back in, fair doesn't come into it.

There's a big difference between Tev and Berba. Tevez is a cnut, Berba doesnt look like that kind of guy

He hasn't managed what? To help us win titles?

Match winning goals in his first season against Middlesbrough, Bolton, Newcastle gave us six points we would not have had and we won the league by four points. I dare say if we'd not have signed him we very likely would have seen Liverpool crowned Champions in 2009.

His goals won us 12 points last season and we finished 9 points clear.

I'm not Berba's biggest fan but to say he's done nothing in helping us to a couple of league titles is absolute nonsense.

They sure did.

Little strange that the same "people" aren't making that same argument for Berbatov, eh?

Agent talk is normally crap. But it might be an interesting January… Wonder if Bayern and or Inter will take a look also

Will mean we will almost certainly be in the market for a new player too

But I thought we weren't playing Berbatov because we were blooding Welbeck in? :wenger:

I said the same thing when we had the Tevez issue, if we get the right results I don't care who plays. I think Berbatov has been treated fine, it's still up to him to break into the team and he will have chances to do so. There are other players who can actually claim to have been treated unfairly like PIG who has literally no chance and has well he has claimed to have been prevented from leaving.

I think Marchi was trying to counter the point Berbatov's experience will help us in the latter half of the season when in reality if we're flexible with the phrase "half" Berbatov has generally been non existant between March to May the crunch end of the season.

If we could get £15-16m I suspect almost everyone would be happy. I'm not fully convinced he'll play as big a part as Fergie suggests later in the season so it might make sense to let him move on if he's not part of our future plans. Personally I think he can do a good job for us but I'm not convinced he has Fergie's confidence any more.
