I am a Pole and I can tell you that currently Hazard and Gotze are about equal and better than Thiago but he has the potential to be as good as both of them if not better. He will find it difficult to realize his potential at Barcelona because of strong competition there and if he doesn't pick his next club carefully he might go down the path of Giovani.

Thus says a Pole.

Poles are completely unreliable. How many British Elections have you guys failed to predict?

Well Fergie doesn't usually goes himself to scout a player if there isn't a serious interest....

agreed, unless it's a future CL opponent, it's unlikely he'd make such a trip unless there is serious interest in a player, and that player/club is also open to the deal.

Yes. But is it Hazard we're interested in?

I'm not sure who else was on show, but a creative midfield playmaker is one position we are definitely looking to fill, and Hazard does fit that profile, a little young of course, but a lot of quality there.

Doesn't mean it's a done deal, but definitely serious interest.

great one:lol:

"Our chairman is willing to pay for an exceptional talent, like Eden Hazard," he is quoted by L'Equipe.

"I have seen him several times recently in Marseille [in January] and then also against PSG in the final of the Coupe de France [last May].

"But I also know that Manchester United are looking at him and also Manchester City.
"It will be difficult to get him, but I like him a lot."

Redknapp also admitted that he was ready to make a personal check on Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, who has been in impressive form this season.

"He looks good, I have read many good reports on him and I have a scout following the French championship," he said.

"If a player attracts my attention I will watch him play."

Harry Redknapp being a transfer muppet again.

Maybe he was watching someone else

Wouldn't it be exciting to see Fergie get his hands on another truly special talent like this kid?

1000/1 it happens though.

Apparently that's the third time SAF has watched Lille in person according to The Times.

Hazard or Gaitan then? Who do we prefer?

You need only see a couple of games of each to see that Gaitan's a class below, I reckon.

This. Haven't seen enough of either to claim an expert view or anything, but Hazard looks a cut above Gaitan.

Is this guy a player in the David Silva mould?

Or another true winger?

He's not a true winger. The best matches I've seen from him, he was playing in a free role and he was both playing on the wings and through the middle. Maybe that would make him more of a Silva type..

Reminds me more of Nani IMO.

Can run players down the line with good tricks / pace, or cut inside through midfield and run at the defence or look for a clever pass.

So is he better than Nani, one of the areas that concerns me about him is his decision making, but have no idea what Hazard is like with his passing etc

I dont know tbh, i havent watched hazard numberous times in and out to say that, but i doubt right now when nani is on full firing that he is better, but certainly has a similar ceiling as such.

Watch 1 of his numberous videos on the tube, you will get the idea of how he plays.

Not a fan of youtube, it can make anyone look good, even Carroll/Henderson look world class

Quite excited about this rumor. I have decided it makes perfect sense despite us not really having room for him per say.

I've not seen enough of him to know definitively but isn't he more of a winger than an attacking midfielder?

I'd say so, but there's always some players that are in between the two. Take Arshavin as an example, winger or attacking midfielder? Or Ronaldinho. Neither would be what I'd call attacking midfielders but at the same time they're clearly not wingers. It'd be a waste to keep Hazard stuck out on the touchline because of his passing but at the same time the easiest place to utilise his dribbling and pace is clearly out wide. No matter where he plays he's always going to drift right across the pitch.

The Telegraph and Times are both running this story, apparently has Fergie has seen him in person thrice() and contact already has been made with his agents.

Really if Fergie has gone and seen him thrice himself, I can see us being very interested in him.

This is running on Goal.com atm:

Hazard 'excited' over Manchester United link & flattered by Ferguson scouting trip
The young attacker has caught the eye of many a manager, including Sir Alex Ferguson, with the Red Devils boss seemingly scouting the player in person last weekend against Lyon

Eden Hazard has admitted that he is excited by the interest shown in him by Manchester United, after Sir Alex Ferguson made the trip to France to see the Lille starlet in action over the weekend.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has also made no secret of his desire to bring the 21-year-old to England.

Hazard, who has scored 11 times in 27 appearances so far this season, concedes that he is likely to move onto an English club when the time is right and that the interest shown by United excites him, but insists that he must keep focus on his duties with Lille.

The Belgium international told La Voix du Nord: “Of course [United interest me], this is a club that excites everyone, but for now my focus is on Lille.

“But yes, it is a pleasure to be watched by one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best.”

I hope these rumours are true, I didn't think we'd be interested in signing Hazard, but all this talk could bring out the transfer Muppet in oneself

ffs ive been trying to steer clear of the hazard hype, as i felt we would never be interested in him because of the bidding war..

But perhaps, just perhaps its time to unleash my inner muppet

Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, who is expected to be without the injury-plagued Brazilian, Anderson, for the rest of the season because of a suspected torn hamstring, spent Saturday evening at Stade de Gerland as French champions Lille suffered a 2-1 defeat against Lyon.

Ferguson has held a long-standing interest in Hazard, but Tottenham had been favourites to sign the 21 year-old, who has also been monitored by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, with Ferguson determined to avoid a repeat of last summer’s failure to add an attacking midfielder to his squad, when moves for Samir Nasri and Wesley Sneijder both ended in disappointment, the Scot is keen to identify targets for an early raid in the transfer market this summer.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, speaking to French media at the weekend, conceded that United had emerged as serious rivals in the race for Hazard.

“Our owner is ready to pay for an exceptional talent like Eden Hazard,” Redknapp said. “But I know Manchester United are also following him very closely. Manchester City too, so it will be difficult to sign him.”

Having been handed his Lille debut as a 16 year-old in November 2007, Hazard was dubbed ‘Little Messi’ by then-coach Claude Puel because of apparent similarities in the player’s attacking play from the right flank.

But Hazard was also urged to show “more charisma” by former Belgium coach Dick Advocaat to realise his potential.

Ferguson’s decision to reinstate Paul Scholes to his squad following the 37 year-old’s retirement about-turn in January has highlighted the need for a long-term replacement for the veteran, however.

And while Athletic Bilbao’s Iker Muniain was hugely impressive during his team’s 3-2 Europa League victory at Old Trafford last Thursday, the Spain international says he has no desire to pursue a move away from his present club.

A move for Hazard could be eased with a victory for the Socialist party in the forthcoming French elections because of calls by their presidential candidate, Francois Hollande, for a 75 per cent tax rate on millionaires.

Should such a proposal be implemented, it is expected to spark an exodus of leading talent from the French league, with Hazard unlikely to halt his desire to move this summer.

United’s pursuit of Hazard, if successful, could prove a blow to Anderson’s attempts to claim a regular place at Old Trafford, five years after arriving from Porto.

The 23 year-old has made just 16 first-team appearances this season because of injury problems and, having returned to the fold for the first time since Jan 8 with a substitute outing against Bilbao last week, is now awaiting the result of scans on a hamstring injury sustained in training at the week.

There are fears that the injury could lead to Anderson being sidelined until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, United winger Ashley Young claims that the pressure in the title race remains with City, despite Ferguson’s team reclaiming top spot on Sunday.

The two clubs meet at the Etihad Stadium on April 30, but having emerged unscathed from a recent run of games including clashes with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, Young believes United have overcome their most testing period of the campaign.

He said: “I think we said if we came through the tough away fixtures then we would set ourselves up for the rest of the season. We’ve managed to do that away from home and our home form is key now.

“A lot of people might not have said that we’d be in front of City, but we’ve got the belief that, as long as we’re winning our games, the pressure’s on them.”

i've decided we are selling nani this summer and buying this fella, and you can quote me on that!!

I hope not, we'd be weaker if that were to happen. It looks like we are in for a winger though as we have been scouting Gaitan and apparently now Hazard too. We need to get ourselves over to Sao Paulo and check Lucas out. I've seen Hazard only 4 times but he's never blown me away if I'm honest.
