We don't need an 30+m winger imo, he would be a fantastic buy but do we really need him?

30m for a CM yes!!!!

Debuchy can play a few position (RB, CM and LB).........maybe Fergie thinks that we're needing a "new O'Shea" in the squad again.

Indeed; the last series of transfer windows basically since Berbatov has badly beaten down my muppetry to the point that I can't imagine how we'll ever sign anybody ever again, let alone someone hyped/in demand.

But now we apparantly have quotes from one of the lead muppet-fantasy targets encouraging us to allow ourselves to dream once more; that all things might be possible and indeed dreams can come true. Even that this situation just seems like the latest in a series of links that have included clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs recently doesn't deter this re-newed feeling of hope. And it is the hope that ultimately kills you.

Muppetry season starts earlier every summer...

My muppetry has taken a battering as well, but it's like the Irish People in the course of our long tragic history - however many times brutally suppressed, it will rise again.

No, your mixing up your nations drinking problem with history again.

Debuchy is a very solid RB.Probably the best one in France (yes even better than Sagna). He is complete, good crosser and accomplished defender

Since ronaldo sir Alex and his team have developed a winning system with a squad of very good players who can generally fulfil a number of roles and can do a job even if they are not on top form.

This approach has proved incredibly effective in league football in that is not over reliant on certain players and is such is very robust and less sensitive to injuries or lack of form. It is also very efficient in terms of the money which needs to be spent to achieve continued success.

Hazard is exceptionally talented but I don't think there are enough facets to his game to contribute effectively to the squad he is also relatively ineffective when not on top of his game. I also don't think he is good enough for us to change our philosophy and build the team around him a la ronaldo.

He's a great ball player with imagination. Why does he have to be painting in a category of 'having to build a team around' Lille don't why would we? As long as he can create chances in the final third ala David Silva that what we require. From what I've seen of him he doesn't lack effort on the pitch.

Fair enough if love for you to be right. Just seems a little inconsistent and when he's off form is basically a passenger

Yep really like him too, the French Gary Neville. He loves a good tackle too.

Some said that he can play in CM

Jones can play CM, RB, CB, Smalling CB, RB, Fabio RB,LB, RW, LW, Park can play as CM, RW and LW...we've got already too many new 'Osheas' in the team. I see the sense behind getting another right back...but not a new OShea.

Saturday's game between Lyon and Lille was third time Fergie has watched Hazard in person. Contact already made with intermediaries #MUFC

Mass suicide on the Cafe if this turns out to be bs. Too many disappointments in recent years. I don't think we can take any more.

I've keeping a poster of Hazard and a razor blade in my bedside locker. One or other will be used.

Ozil 2010
Sneijder 2011
Hazard 2012?

The Ozil saga wasn't horrendous because it was never certain we were interested. The press proclaimed Sneijder a United player so many times.... he was within our grasp - only to slip away.

We seem to have dodged a bullet though. Funny how things work out.

Well, if no other teams wants a player and he's foreign then he's ours. We've got a fine record in beating other teams for British/Irish signings but if the Spaniards or Italians or big local teams are after the same player we're not likely to follow through with it (talking only about the last few years) because of value. Benzema is one of those guys.

Would be nice to get a marquee player in this summer.

The interesting thing is that the last time we actually went out and made a load of f@ptastic signings (summer of '07) we ended up winning the double the following season.

BBC say that City and Chelsea are also interested.

The only way we're signing Hazard is if he's sensible - otherwise he'll go for the excessive riches on offer elsewhere.

We'll prably announce we have signed Hazard as soon as the season ends, him as well as anyone else we're getting, then say our summer business is done, thus robbing us muppets of what could be many many long entertaining hours scouring the interweb for every rumour and reporting what every Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime on twitter says.

I much prefer this.

The sagas are just painful.

I hope we are keeping an eye on him. It's nice to feel back in the loop with regards to attracting top talent. We can't always develop youth.

Would love him here. For all the talk of Goetze and Eriksson, I think Hazard is the best of the bunch, he's going to be an amazing midfielder (yes midfielder, not a winger) in a few years.

If we're in a bidding war with Chelsea and City though, we will struggle, sadly.

What's up muppets, has this guy signed for Madrid yet? Don't get your hopes up for this one lads, don't want you suffering the disappointment when Florentino gets his chequebook out. :p

I've not watched the kid in depth, but if he can play CM at a top level than I'm all for it. Pointless buying another winger/attacker though at this point in time.

I've said it before and will say it again.. Twice I've been stunned by a player when I saw them make their debut. The first time was Cristiano Ronaldo for United, and the second time was Eden Hazard for Belgium at age 17. I don't know if he'll be as good as Ronnie, but he surely has enough ability to be a worldbeater. I would be very excited if he was to sign for us in the summer.

You were more stunned by Ronaldo on his debut than Rooney? Rooney's debut was simply outstanding, as was his debut season at United.

Got a battle on.If any of this is true.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham have all contacted Lille to register an interest in signing playmaker Eden Hazard.

The Premier League quartet, along with clubs in Italy and Germany, are keen to sign the 21-year-old Belgian but none of them has made a formal offer.

French champions Lille are willing to let Hazard leave in the summer if they receive an acceptable bid.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson watched Lille's defeat at Lyon on Saturday.

Ferguson missed out on Samir Nasri and Wesley Sneijder last summer but still appears determined to sign a creative midfielder.

When asked if a move to Old Trafford would attract him, Hazard told Lille daily newspaper La Voix du Nord: "Of course. This is a club that excites everyone, but for now my focus is on Lille.

"But yes, it is a pleasure to be watched by one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best."

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is also an admirer of Hazard, who has won 26 caps for his country.

"Our owner is willing to pay for an exceptional talent, like Eden Hazard," Redknapp told L'Equipe.

"I have seen him several times recently, in Marseilles [in January] and then also against PSG in the final of the Coupe de France [last May].

"But I also know that Manchester United are looking at him and also Manchester City.

"It will be difficult to get him but I like him a lot."

Hazard has scored 11 goals in 27 league games this season, helping Lille to third place in the French top flight.

He featured in all six of their Champions League group games and registered his first goal for Belgium in October.

Real Madrid had previously been linked with Hazard but they have not spoken to Lille about his availability.

The English clubs declined to comment when contacted by BBC Spor
