He gets extra love for not spelling like a chav.
He doesn't speak English, so it's mighty impressive if he's written it himself.

It is a genuine question though, how can he be anyone's favorite (or top 2-3) whereas the real season hasn't even kicked off yet ?

Maybe some people actually knew he existed before this summer.
You don't find it strange that someone can say, 'Kagawa is my favourite United player', despite not watching him play a game for United?
For me its the way he plays football. He's got quality on the ball but he also work incredibly hard without it, in both defence and attack. He also says the right things for fans, the fact he wanted to come here is great too.
He looks a nice guy.
Whats not to like?!

So let me get this straight, he was their favourite player last season?
No, of course he wasn't. In fact, I reckon he barely registered on anyones scale of favourite players. But, now that he's a United player, he suddenly is the favourite and has been?
It doesn't make any sense. People calling him their favourite player are being stupid as he hasn't played a real match for us yet.
How does that translate into becoming a fans favourite though?
Would that mean Van Persie would be a favourite if he came, despite not doing anything for us?
Well, Hectic he's a two times title winning player from another top European league. It kind of automatically fires up the supporters. (Heinze was the "fan's player of the year" the year he joined us.)
Also, favourite in a sense of 'Favourite to shine'? MY favourite has been always Scholes, and it won't change.
You're misunderstanding me. I'm not asking why people are very excited over him, it would be hard to find a United supporter who isn't.
Yes, Heinze was fans player of the year, after having played a years worth of football. Which is my point. You wouldn't of had posters saying in the season we brought Heinze, before he played any games, 'He's my favourite United player'.

Heinze was a fighter and a good performer in a season where United was poor by its standards. His "love" and him being a fan favorite didn't even kick off before the season started
He has played 3 games though wether you count them or not, i think that is enough to establish if they like that type of player. His personality also helps, seems very scholes-like which i think we all appreciate.
I think the other reason is we really dont have another player like him in our squad - hes the closest to iniesta that we have got, as soon as he gets the ball i feel like something will always happen.
I have to disagree. I'm not talking about whether you like a player or not. I'm talking about people saying 'Kagawa is my favourite United player', after three pre-season games. It's that simple.
Yeah that I can certainly understand, but for me he has to actually do something for United, to become a favourite. I've warmed upto him a lot, he looks a ridiculous talent and I enjoyed watching him before he signed here, but a favourite? Not even close.
Perhaps some others really dislike most of our squad
I agree that to say already he is the favourite above giggs / scholes is a bit silly, but he is also "1" of my favourite players already, as i watched him alot for dortmund.
I wouldn't read too much into it. Rooney has scored 180 goals here and some people hate him, the fat shit.
I'd imagine Kagawa will still play behind the striker in Europe where we'll push Rooney wide.
I think it's a shame we probably won't see him in that role regularly though, been a while since I've been as excited about a player as Kagawa after his performances behind the striker in pre-season.

"I think that, absolutely. That had to be in our estimation of bringing Robin here that we had to… what would be the combinations because Robin can actually play in two or three positions as he's done at Arsenal, last season he proved what his best position was, number 1, furthest up the pitch, 37 goals, 30 league goals, that in itself tells you where his best position is. But Arsenal over the years have sort of evolved their systems a bit and therefore that's maybe why he was sometimes played midfield, wide right, sometimes wide left, and in that situation now I have the possibility I can play Rooney through, Van Persie through, Chicharito through, I've got Danny Welbeck who could play through and I've got Kagawa playing in that hole behind, who is a fantastic young footballer too. So that's my dilemma but you know that the most important thing for all these 5 players, and you've got Macheda, young Macheda, who is still a young lad, only 20 years of age, the important thing is to win what we want to win, that's the important thing and the players, as a unit, the 5 of them, have helped us to do that by offering a goal contribution that is better than everyone else, then we've done the right thing.
Without wishing to offending anyone, Kagawa is in effect replacing Park (and Giggs pretty much). He is able to play off the main striker and also flexible enough to play in central midfield and out wide, all positions Fergie had hoped Park would end up suceeding in doing last season.
