how remarkable given Valencia was injured for most of the season and Young was in and out after the first few months.

They all played virtually the same amount of games, numbnuts.

Have you ever posted anything other than a sarky little bitch comment by the way?

Did more in a half hour than most of our other attackers did in the entire match.

Yet people somehow argue that Welbeck should play on the wing ahead of him.

Who's that? That guy needs a kick in the head. A hard one.

Thank god we brought him on, we would have lost this otherwise. His bit of play to win the penalty, and he bringing him on meant we had someone on the left and a threat from that side. Hopefully the contract shit gets cleared up and he stays with us.

He should've started today as he would have offered so much more than Welbeck from the wing. That pinpoint cross from the corner at the end was brilliant.

God, hope Sir Alex takes note and starts playing Nani on the left instead of Welbeck. The difference having two wingers in our game play made such a huge difference.

He has done it regularly for two years. In the last 3 to 4 months of last season he was average (injuries and being dropped didn't help), other than that he's been consistently class but people seem to have forgotten it.

Nani was poor when he came on today although great delivery from the corner RVP scored from. I agree he should start wide left instead on Danny but to be honest I don't know whats up with him as he looks severely lacking in confidence. Maybe the contractual issues are affecting him I'm not sure (just speculating).

What the feck were you watching?

He's a brilliant player and even when off form, he can have that one single moment to change a game. Give him games, let him find his form, and I'm sure he'll deliver

He really helped us to play like a football team today, along with Scholes obviously.

Start him next match! It's quite stupid playing Welbeck there and then having our entire left wing empty because Welbeck is just on the wing. Nani has that special ability of producing a moment of magic and that's why he should start. Now that Fergie's made a point, I hope he starts our next match.

Still can't believe his corner beat the first man

I thought Nani was decent when he came on, without being better than that. Which is hardly surprising given his lack of football. He'll get better and better. It was a good corner for the winner, hopefully he gets a bit of confidence from that.

Yep. He wasn't particularly great but he was much better than Welbeck in that position.

He also somehow managed to deliver a corner where he didn't hit the first man.

I also didn't think he played well, understandably. He played okay, but he produced 'when playing poorly' and that's all you can ask. Also made our left wing a threat.. unlike Danny.

Really rate Nani, this one wasn't his best 30 minutes, it was pretty average (not bad, not good). He just did the job without showing off too many great touches, didn't beat his man, just put the ball in the middle and gave in a few good crosses and a few bad ones.

He should really be starting, however. He'll play much better when given time.

Yeah, pretty much. Hopefully a decent confident boost, and a reminder for him how to take fecking corners!

What I really like about Nani is that the fullback has to give him some space as Nani has such great close control of the ball and he flicks it left, right or nutmegs the fullback if he is careless with hardly in the blink of an eye. Then he accelerates away from the fullback and is impossible to catch due to pace and strength.

He has so much going for him, and that also creates space for Evra. Welbeck is very one dimensional, and to me isn't a winger. A very capable striker, but no winger.

I thought that was a common Nani appearance. He was pretty poor but provided good width as usual and one good cross that won us the game.

What I don't understand is why can't he take that corner the whole time. That's what he should be doing, taking a corner that landed in or around the edge of the 6 yard box. 80% of his corners don't beat the first man and 10% are looped way over to the far side of the box. Take the damn corners like that and we might score a few more.

Welbeck is not a winger and should be absolutely nowhere near the left wing. An out of form Nani is much better than an in form Welbeck playing in a position he cannot play in.

he was a threat when he came on, but like the above post, i thought it was an average nani rather than a fabulous nani performance.

but his corner for rvp's winner. why he just cannot do that on a regular basis?

Oh look, playing someone on the wing who's a winger won us the game.

I have no idea why we've constantly played Welbeck or Rooney there this season, when we have wingers fit.

Everton - Welbeck plays wide left, we get beat.

Fulham - Young starts, we lead at half time 3-1. Welbeck and Rooney come on for one of them to play out of position, we 'lose' the second half 1-0 (even though the game came before this, we were more shit from the substitutions onward).

Southampton - Welbeck wide left yet again with left wingers fit. We go behind. We go behind again. We bring Scholes and a winger (Nani) on and go 442 (and eventually Hernandez but still 442). We win.

Over those three games, when we've had Welbeck or Rooney going to the wide left position, we have not scored a goal and we've conceded 3. So, is it me or does this playing more strikers even if it means they're out of position simply not work? Yet it keeps happening...

tl;dr fecking start Nani on the wing if he's fit.

Bringing nani on changed the game. Before he came on we were relying on evra to provided all the width down the left and it resulted in the team being stuck going right every time. Nani gave us good width and a threat down the other flank which opened the game up far more.

Hopefully SAF plays nani on the left next week instead of having welbeck as a floating inside left forward. We just look so much more dangerous with two natural wide players out there.

He did have a couple of silly moments in fairness.but his good moments over shadowed them in the end

Well he always has silly moments, something you have to accept with him.

Did Nani also have a stint at right back?

A fair point, though I've said repeatedly myself that Valencia was the better player last season, it's pointless to argue against that. It was merely used to reference his comment stating that he wasn't productive last season, which wasn't true, he was still very productive and his stats were up there with everyone else despite being "average" for large portions

I'm still in utter shock and disbelief that we scored directly with a header from a Nani corner...

The system SAF's playing doesn't work. Unfortunately for Danny, I feel we're much better with Nani as he's a natural winger, Danny simply isn't.
