Manchester United vs Newcastle United

I have seen nothing from either Wooton or Keane that would make me play Carrick at CD over them. Another defensive crisis and one of them deserves a chance in the first team.

Can't compare this challenge to facing Fellaini, though. The right back has looked a bundle of nerves on the ball.

Seriously, I think that's the hardest I've ever seen him hit the ball, and he managed to get it on target as well. Double whammy.

Maybe the boss will buy him a KFC on the way home now.

So much better than last Sunday. C'mon Tom remember how to bloody shoot!?

Anderson , Clev and Fletch have made a case for themselves , and for a three man midfield with at least two out of them here ( with the third one being possibly Scholes or Carrick).

Why play Giggs in midfield ? Just why ?

Awesome strike.

Oh and I didn't mean to get on Vermeijl's back, just an observation.

Good Half.

Michael Keane continues to impress, the midfield of crocks is giving me hope and Rooney looks like he's ready for the season now. Cleverley needs to get the goal monkey of his back, couldn't believe it didn't go in. Buttner looks solid again.

fecking Anderson if he manages to stay fit and work more harder he could be some player.

awesome talent

Just imagine this type of football from us week in week out

Rooney looks sharper, fletcher looks sharper, anderson looks sharper.

Hopefully we'll be able to keep our possession and ball retention to the same standards next half, now that Newcastle will have to come at us. Should be some more space in behind now.

Whatever happens in the 2nd half, it's been a hugely encouraging game so far. Rooney and Anderson have looked sharp, Fletcher is making good progress, and the two young lads at CB have done well.

This. A million times this.

Good performance so far. The back four has been good considering its completely new. CM has been very good.

Great to see Fletcher back and he has done well.

Ando was the best in the pitch, glad for him.

I am seriously starting to think that Cleverley just can't score no matter in what position he is.

Well this is good so far, the first half's been actually enjoyable to watch from us. Not perfect, many things don't come off but it's an unusual line-up and unusual formation.

But it's a formation I'd like to see more because it's simply more pleasing to watch than seeing us outnumbered in the middle and whacking in blind cross after cross from wide. All the players in the front six look mobile, energetic and comfortable off the ball and we actually apply pressure on the opposition higher up the pitch. Such a great thing to see. Some of the passing has been really, really slick, we don't look our usual disjointed self. And this formation would be perfect with RvP and Kagawa as well.

Why not play this formation in the prem it seems so fluid.

Exactly. Midfield trio of Clev + Anderson with Fletch or Carrick behind them (With scholes to come in if things need calming down), and a front three of Rooney/Kagawa, Welbeck/Nani, Hernandez/RVP would be really fluid.

Glad to see Ando receiving the ball and driving forwards. That is where his strength is best utilised and he's shown how much of a handful he can be against a very capable, albeit just recovering, Tiote.

With 4 strikers, 3 wingers and Kagawa, there isnt much chance of us playing 3 in midfield too often... bit of a shame.

I am very very excited.

Fletch looks sharp as feck for a guy dealing with a terrible disease.

Rooney looks sharp too.

Anderson feckin scored.

Makeshift backline seemed fine.

This is the most energy we have played with this season bar Wigan.

Looks like all the players out there are basically saying "I want play against Spurs cuz the majority of the team were shit at Anfield".

I like this.

Chicharito playing wide in some moments looked weird to me. He is doing a good job too.

He's not that fat, mate.

But I agree, he's been good. As has Wayne.

It was more difficult to miss the target than find it.I think it's a psychological thingy, he doesn't believe he can finish

It could be. Anderson had the same problem too. If I am correct he didn't score in his first 2 years here.
