Benitez to Chelsea Discussion & Sack watch

I'm surprised people are expecting more from this Chelsea side. Their spine that won them so much over the past decade has aged or been sold off. Bedding in youth talent and new signings will take some time to work. It doesn't help that the managers position is a revolving door. I know it's the "in thing" to blame Benitez, but this has been long overdue for Chelsea.

The young team was bedding in just fine at the beginning of the season, playing some scintillating football. When Robbie was sacked, we were just 4 points behind, still well in the title race and unfortunate to go out of the CL with the highest ever points/GD total not to qualify.

We played with fight and confidence, getting big results away at Arsenal and Spurs and being unlucky to be done against United by an offside goal against 9 men (one of whom shouldn't have been red carded).

We are now a shadow of that side, miles off the title race, out of almost every competition (with nothing to show for it) and with a club in absolute disarray.

There is not a way on earth that persevering with Roberto would have turned out as badly as this. And even if it had, the fans would still have been behind him.

I thought it'd be interesting to look at Chelseas record under Benitez and compare it to the teams currently in the top 6. It reads as follows:

Code:
[B]Team P GD PTS[/B]
Manchester United 15 18 41
Tottenham 15 15 34
Arsenal 15 12 28
Manchester City 15 9 27
Chelsea 15 14 25
Everton 15 0 22

N.B. When Benitez took over Chelsea had played 12 games and were in 3rd position on 24 points. They were 5 points behind us and 3 behind City. Chelsea are now 19 points us and 7 behind City.

Thus proves the sheer prowess of Benitez!

This has been done to death now. Its quite well established amongst everyone from the most die hard United fan to the Chelsea equivalent that Rafa is not a very good manager. The problem is we are the ones lumbered with he who shall not be sacked!

Just had one of his meltdowns.

Fair play though, he knows the fans hate him and now he just doesn't give a feck what he says.

Just another 80 days to go Rob.

What did Benitez say post-match tonight?

"They are wasting time with their banners and songs. They don't need to worry about me. I leave at end of the season"

"These Chelsea fans have an agenda. These Chelsea fans are damaging the image of the club"

"I'm experienced. I've won the Champions League, the Spanish league twice, the FA Cup. They (fans) are a group with an agenda"

"must get behind the team or they will be in the Europa League next season"

"I will leave at the end of the season. They don't need to worry about me"

"They gave me the title of Interim Manager, is a big mistake, I am the manager"

"They want to be in the CL, they have to support the team."

"If the fans continue singing, we will end up in Europa league"

McGarry reckons he could be sacked sooner rather than later.

Rafa to an extent has a point about the negativity of fans. Likewise the crazy management.
He's an idiot but the fans haven't helped with the situation and neither have the senior players.

He has gone into a full blown meltdown, need a video of this.

Benitez: "Why put 'interim' in title? Why did they need to do that? Maybe they (board) thought: 'He was at Liverpool so we put 'interim' in"

Chelsea fans acted like morons, to be honest. I just can't see how booing the manager from the off'd be constructive. Booing your only has an adverse affect, whereas teams thrive of opposition fans abusing them. Basically it's nose cutting...face spiting.

Abramovich is not going to let this schmuck speak about his club like that. I think he'll be gone by the weekend.

If he's criticised the board, he'll be sacked by the weekend.

Where does Roman go now - Jose, Klopp or JT??

Oh come on, 99.9% of United fans would be exactly the same if Rafa became manager of United after SAF, yes it probably has an adverse effect on the overall team and performances, but that's not the point. You moan when clubs are fickle, and get behind people they previously despised, well we haven't. We didn't like him before and we still don't like him.

I'm pretty sure the general consensus is we want Rafa out regardless of the cost. If anything its an unusually genuine display of feeling for a club, especially one which changes managers so often.

Just watched it on SSN  He had his little "facts list" and reeled off his achievements then said Chelsea fans are wasting time preparing negative banners etc.

Horrible club, they won't reach the heights they did under Mourinho again. The CL will be the last major trophy they win for a long time.

Benitez is hilarious.

They're just going to boo him even louder if he manages to survive for another game. Good work Rafa.

He reeled off a list of his achievements? What was it written on? A post it note?

We wouldnt be stupid enough to hire him in the first place. One he just sucks and second he managed one of your main rivals. Why would you want him in the first place? I still cant fathom that.

We dislike him immensely. But I'm not sure the heart should rule...when the chances are it may affect the whole club. Truth is Roman made a massive mistake, and that's where your displeasure should've been aimed at.

He will be sacked before the West Brom game, JT will step in as player manager
