Abject. Abysmal. Disastrous. Hopeless. Pitiful. Miserable. Wretched. All adjectives you could use to describe tonight's farce. Still, there's some deluded posters who have serious Red-tinted glasses on and who struggle to see our oh-so-obvious shortcomings.
That result was coming a mile off once those line-ups were announced. City's looked strong and imposing, particularly in midfield, where we looked especially weak and feeble. It appears that we'll never learn from our mistakes - both managerially and on the field of play. Mancini made a comment yesterday saying that United's opponents make it easy for us to beat them, often rolling over before a ball is kicked. Maybe it was a round-about way of saying that we don't have the nous to beat a well-drilled and tactically advanced team, which we have proven time and again when the chips have been down in recent seasons.
It's embarrassing seeing City come to our patch and dominate like that, especially when we know we could have put it up to them had the right personnel been selected. The most damning thing about tonight was the 1-2 scoreline was kind to us; our only clear-cut chance was an own goal. That in itself tells its own story. We shouldn't keep harping on to the old days, but in Keane's, Cantona's, Schemeichel's day, we would never have been out-fought and out-thought like that on out own patch.
Infuriating.
