Point taken Mr Goldblum, but I wouldn't use comparisons of him destroying Scotland's defence to bolster you argument.

I've honestly never seen him do anything, but I'm sure he's an amazing talent. Let's see if he can handle the pressure at Barca.

We'll soon see how good he really is, im looking forward to seeing what he does at Barcelona. If he's half as good as the hype that comes with him then the €50m wont be an issue at all, infact he's going to be the face of next summers world cup, I bet they make a feck load off his name from South America.

He gets to keep his image rights in the deal. But I agree I want to see how good he is. If his style translates to the European game.

There is no doubt about Neymar's talent. I'm interested to see how he adapts to facing European defences who push up, press and make the pitch as short as possible though. In Brasil, there is so much more space on the field.

I reckon this will further motivate Real to go splash megabucks on Bale.

That's the question, absolutely

@ FCBarca

I'm hearing that Neymar wants his number 11 (read it on twitter). Can you see Thiago leave or will Thiago take Villa's number as the forward's very likely to leave in the summer?

Soon there will be some Spanish Neymar bastards running around. He's the Brazilian Raheem Sterling.

Long been wondering, strangely enough, whether he'd take #11 or #7, either way someone would have to give it up or go. Villa wouldn't give it up and it'd be douche to ask it of him, IMHO - but he's gone to Spurs or Arsenal, anyway. #11 is the natural choice and Thiago actually gave #4 up for Cesc (Still, a catastrophic mistake, IMO, among others regarding those two).

We'll know soon enough what happens with Thiago (I've got a bad bad feeling about it) but even if he were to stay

, I doubt he's married to #11 anyway. I could see him taking the vacant #7 as a result but I could also see him taking his best mate JDS'#12 as he is likely to leave too.

Edit...Thiago in the starting XI tonight :D

The likes of Oscar have come into this league and done very well and Neymar from I read has done better than him in Brazil so there is no reason for him not to do well for Barca. A lot of hype around him and as long as that doesn't get to him he should be ok. Barca need him to do well as apart from Messi their front three haven't worked as well as past years

So if Thiago starts the last game as well, his release clause goes back up to that huge amount?

I'm not really sure why players become so attached to certain numbers to be honest.

Hes really talented, but whenever i have seen him play (which is not that much tbh) hes been really greedy.

Will be interesting to see how he fits in along side Messi.

Cried today while the Santos hymn was being played.

He could be devastating in that Barcelona team. I'm sure they'll help him adapt to European football in no time at all. They'll try to develop him into more of a team player and start to coach out the diving. Well... maybe not so much of the latter. But his talent is undeniable and he just oozes trickery on the ball. He'll be fun to watch in Spain.

Yeah, Busquets has been with them since he was a kid, so I think we can surmise that coaching out diving isn't a priority.

No one's quite certain what the 60% refers to specifically, whether it's matches or minutes. If he plays in the last match against Malaga then he will have participated in 36/60 matches on the season, or 60%. In terms of minutes, it'd be below the 60% threshold regardless of whether he plays against Malaga or it goes into OT and he does play all of the match. Of course, if that's true he didn't play 60% of the team minutes last season and there was no discussion of his buyout being 18 million. So, I'm not really sure.

I want him to succeed.. out of all the current top players in the game, he's the one who possesses the most flair, the likes of Ronaldo and Messi are beasts due to their machine-like efficiency and whilst they're undoubtedly good to watch, a Neymar which actually lives up to the hype and beyond might make football really fun to watch and remind us of Ronaldinho.

Odds are stacked against him however.

That 50 figure comes from one locale, nowhere else. Also read a statement from Santos, they won't be divulging the specifics of the deal but it will appear on Barcelona's books when he is signed - which is most likely going to confirm the 28 number

Some impressive highlights really

Is that Xavi they stuck him on? I recognise that pose.

50m euros? I thought it was 28?

Why are there such varying fees flying about?

I wouldn't be surprised if Santos get 28 million which is the reported fee. But a percentage of his ownership is owned by agents and third parties who I'm sure made a good buck too. Maybe it was a combined 50 million.

I watched 1 min of that highlight reel and stopped. His flicks and tricks are pleasing to the eye but I couldn't help but think, "will he be able to do the same in Europe where the opposition will most likely be more physical and organised?"
