How good is Deulofeu I know he has been scoring for fun in the Segunda. I still think the Pedro you had his first two years in the team would be the best if Pedro could get back to that level that would help 20 goals a season and a high workrate no ego he knows how to play the one two's with Messi and he knows how to find space. When players come in tactically they can't keep up.

I don't see the signing of Neymar as one Barca desperately needs but like you said their are most likely commercial reasons. He has the talent to do well will be interesting to see how good he actually is.

I wish they could clone the Pedro of '08-'10.

Most fans are excited about Deulofeu and I like him but I'm also a bit tough on him - mainly due to his personality really. I am not a fan of cockiness and showboating to humiliate opponents. He's a bonafide talent, there's no doubt about it and he is a genuine goalscorer with pace & terrific dribbling skills. Like with Neymar, he has yet to consistently show the work ethic needed (Like a Pedro), especially at tracking back but even to be unselfish. He's gotten a lot of the CR comparisons, for good reason, IMO.

Neymar, what can you do really? I didn't want Cesc back and the club were obsessed with his return. Rosell has a hard on for Brasilians and marketing so Neymar checks all the boxes he loves - irrespective of how he can fit in ultimately. But as a fan, what can you do? You support the team/club and hope for the best or cooler heads to prevail. I think it can work with Neymar but many things have to fall into place, I believe. I do think I've misjudged aspects of his personality in the last few years from the odd performance or youtube clips, perhaps other fans have too. But as you say, we'll see.

For a player with his kind of talent not only does he have to work hard, the club and its coaches MUST find a way to adjust a system to get the best out of him too. With Messi around, on a neutral level I fear Neymar may get overshadowed and not fulfill his incredible potential.

It may go either way though. As a fan of a club looking to make moves in Europe, I have to say it'd please me to see it not go brilliantly because Neymar reaching his potential alongside the best player in the world/best player ever, frightening.

Can't disagree but I think there is this sentiment at the club and perhaps even with both Neymar & Leo themselves that indeed a unique partnership could form which would be frightening for others but a dream for the club & fans - something to build on going forward.

I think for the South American caf members, they can appreciate how unique it is as well for an Argentine & Brasilian of their talents partnering up. It's practically unprecedented really

Just read on twitter says he has accepted Barca's offer.

ESPN in the US has sent a text update that he's accepted Barca's offer, they usually don't post updates like that unless it's pretty well established, but we'll see.

Why aren't more clubs putting in bids for him? PSG, City, Chelsea etc. The asking price doesn't seem to be ridiculously high either.

He won't come to England I think City and Chelsea have enquired it has always been Barca or Real.

It's about 50m Euros - the Santos fee is for 55% of the rights. Barcelona are believed to have paid at least 10m as a deposit a couple of years ago, so they were always in the driving seat.

Barca are expected to pay 7m Euros (net of tax) wages per year and he retains all his image rights. I'm sure there are other clubs who could match them, but you'd have to do a lot more than just match the raw numbers.

Apparently it won't be official until after Santos' match tomorrow, per Neymar, out of respect to the fans. So it'd either be Sunday night or Monday for official club announcements. Scolari has apparently given him permission to fly to Barcelona to do the traditional signing presentation the first week of June so that there won't be any distractions for the Confederations Cup starting on the 15th.

And Chilean... ABC lol...

------------Neymar-------------
Alexis-------Iniesta---------Messi
-----Fabregas----Busquets------

ps. they could do so much better with a proper striker... even Rooney.

Maradona-Careca at Napoli, if they can be half as good as a duo it will be something special

I think the only way to make it work for them would be to accept equal roles for Neymar and Messi. They have a very unique situation on their hands, Messi and Neymar are the best duo of strikers in the world - but at the same time the best duo of inside forwards.

Alexis does not add much to the first eleven compared to the other options they have of using that last slot. They already have the best player in 2 positions in Messi and Iniesta and Neymar is arguably up there for that striker role as well.

Neymar-----Messi
-----Iniesta-------

I think they should take advantage of how great that trio is and just let them be free in front of a more traditional set-up to stabilize their weak defense.

I think he will be a revelation at Barca. Will take some of the burden off Messi. Probably make the genius even better as well, which I believe is still possible.

The rumoured figure is €25-28 million - 55% of that to Santos, 40% to D.I.S. and 5% to TEI

No way you're getting Neymar for €25m or anything close. €40m+

That triangle, and 7 centrebacks. Sorted.

Galera !! Tô aqui reunido com amigos e familiares e eles me ajudaram a escrever algumas coisas aqui... #Toiss

Titles, goals, dribbling, celebrations and songs that fans created for me will be forever in my heart ... I made sure to play the match tomorrow in Brasilia. I want to have the opportunity to once again take the field with the "mantle" and hear the crowd scream my name ... as the hymn says, "it is an honor that not everyone can have ..." It is a different time for me, sad (farewell) and cheerful (new challenge). May God bless me in my choices ... And I'm always in Santos! # Toiss

When was the last time a non La Masia graduate thrived? Villa, Fabregas, Alexis, Song have all been disappointing. Neymar won't fit their style.

Neymar and the current Barca don't seem to fit for me but anything can happen I suppose.
I thought Barca had other more pressing concerns than signing Neymar, like bolstering their defensive options.

I thought Villa was brilliant in 10/11, but never the same after his nasty injury at the club world cup.

Sorry if that ruffles your feathers but it is what it is, which as I pointed out before is still steep for a player in the last year of his contract. The same price for RVP

RM tried to scupper the deal by instead negotiating with his sponsors, D.I.S., by offering up to 10 million more who ended up pressuring all parties to accept the higher deal - legally they were not actually able to negotiate this way. Rosell complained to UEFA & FIFA that RM were harassing the deal with an end around - supposedly both Platini & Valcke intervened.

The circus comes to town

I really don't see what all the fuss is about Neymar . Could be wrong.

I'm very interested to see how they'll fit him into the side to get the best out of both him and Messi.

Neymar will play on the left side on their front three I guess.

He has played there before and showed he can be effective as a wide forward.

I only wonder if Neymar coming to Barca will also mean the end for Villa with them because I somehow doubt he wants to be a bench warmer for the last years of his career.

Time for a title change or time for a new thread. I'm not going to pick which one, but one of the 2 options needs picking.

TV3 (Barcelona) say it's 40m now plus 10m already paid.

There are plenty of other versions kicking around but the 50m is also the one El Mundo and El Pais are using.

Its funny really. It just shows how corrupt the game is. Barcelona complained about the Madrid behavior (according to Sport,.?!) and they do this when they themselves have a illegal pre-contract with Neymar since a year back...

It's funny how bitter fans can be but I agree corruption is rampant in the game. Pre-contract with a downpayment was already in the books for both Santos & Barcelona, the legality of which was there for scrutiny. Try again.

You're citing rumours, rumours that are constantly changing the figures. MD are saying 35 while El Pais are saying 28. Santos and Lancet in Brasil have routinely used the 28 figure.

One thing is for sure. He wont come in and just look to pass the ball around and find Messi like all of their other players atm bar Iniesta. He'll look to do it himself more often, just a question of whether he's forced into the "just pass to Messi" club after a year or two

Credit to the player, has to be said. Santos received 6 different offers for the player, the largest coming from Chelsea - yet the player only wanted to go to Barcelona. For someone portrayed as selfish & egomaniacal, he chose playing with Messi over money while showing respect to his club, Santos.

yes because he will make so little money at impoverished Barcelona.
