Moyes So Far!

What the feck is up with the doom and gloom in here? Losing a game and all of the sudden we're no longer top 4? You guys need to get a fecking grip.

Its three very ordinary to extremely poor performances in the three big PL games so far. Its quite worrying no matter what way you look at it.
Awful tactics and some poor team selection

That and its one players fault apparently. A player who has dominated against Toure and City before but still its all his fault

Absolutely no one is saying it's only Fellaini's fault. Have you seen the criticism of Young, and to a lesser extent Valencia and our defence?

People saying we won't get top 4 are massively overreacting and I'd still be shocked if we don't, but make no mistake this has been one of our worst performances in a very long time and people are rightly frustrated and angry.

It is worrying. 3 big games, 0 goals scored, five conceded. You can't twist that around any other way.

Moyes has to make sure we finish in the top four. That is a clear priority and it's a tough one this year.

We drew at home to a cowardly Chelsea and created very little. We've delivered two of our worst performances in a long time in those losses to Liverpool and City.

Labelling it as "doom and gloom" is a bit silly. Simply put, we've been shit in big games.

Only one sub, Kagawa Nani, Hernandez on the bench. Says it all. He accepted defeat.

Its the league cup, a team has to win on the day

I know that. I was making a point of Moyes not going for it against Chelsea, Liverpool, or City so far in the season.

We'll also probably play the same 11. At least Young and Valencia will play. So far, we've not rotated the squad at all. It's not terribly surprising if some of the team is tired.

Today has been a major disappointment from Moyes; it's hard to fathom what's gone on in this game. Still early days though, I will reserve judgement.

He still has not made the step up from Everton. I was hoping he was more adventurous and more of a winner

He looks distraught. He needs to bounce back and the Scouse game is now a must-win.

Are people kidding. Top four? If we finish outside of the top 3 Moyes is off. I can't see us finishing lower than 3rd. It's just a question of whether Moyes has what it takes at this level but if he were to lead us to lower than 3rd he would have failed absolutely miserably. Especially given his talk of how he sees day in day out that he's got a group of winners and that we are champions for a reason.

I don't think he could have you it more wrong today. Young starting, Nani Kagawa and Chicharito all unused subs, Fellaini up top. I genuinely don't understand what he was thinking, it's all extremely obvious stuff. Oh well, he still deserves plenty of time. Still, very disappointing stuff today.

Feel like he's implemented some of Fergie's horrible tactics but without the brilliant man management.

I didn't think he was anywhere near cut out for the job back in May and unfortunately he's done nothing so far to sway me from that view.

Couldnt be arsed working it out but what is our worst start to a PL season. I know the 1st in 92/93 was worst bad. But could this be the 2nd worst?

Not scoring from open play since the first game of the season remains my biggest worry. You can sugarcoat it all you like, but it's a massive concern, even against Chelsea Liverpool and City (particularly in the context of the Chelsea and Liverpool games, City less so as Kompany was never letting anything through open play).

Out of his depth today. It's a good thing this has come so early so he has time to turn things around.

Indeed, lets not sugarcoat it at all. From the transfer Window to results in the 1st 5 games its been very disappointing

Agree and I just don't care if some random internet gimp criticises me. He's not the right man and never was, worrying.

It was actually farcical stuff. I mean, the wrong line-up I can forgive, because it's a bit like rock / paper / scissors at times in trying to play the formation that beats your opponent, but then shoving Fellaini up top at the end -- where he somehow managed to look even worse -- instead of bringing on Hernandez is just... /facepalm. And why the heck didn't Nani get some minutes at the end? What did we have to lose?!

City and Pool away and Chelsea so 3 points of top not bad but more down to our opponents than us. Need to improve drastically Evra and Rio looked like get we're not up for the fight. Worrying times as we need 3 in middle to get best out Fellaini but ten that doesn't suit Rooney looks like square pegs for round holes this season.

West Brom - Home , Sunderland - Away, Southampton - Home, Stoke - Home and Fulham - Away.

If he can't mastermind the team to at least 12 points from these 5, then I'll worry about our credentials for a top 2 finish. Whilst it's always good to beat the near rivals, the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal show that their results against the lesser sides have held them back over the years so it's imperative to take advantage of these games.

Did anyone else fear the worst when they saw the team line up? Why do managers persist in letting us get out numbered in midfield? Against city of all teams. Its a recipe for defeat and that is exactly what happened. I hope moyes learns this quickly, because it was the one thing that ferguson consistently gone wrong

Lets just hope he learns from his mistakes or that this is part of a Moysterplan to keep Kagawa, Nani and Hernandez fresh and hungry.

Can't believe one of Nani/Kagawa/Hernandez didn't come on at any stage.

Fellaini upfront was fecking mind boggling as well.

Shit in preseason. Shit in the transfer window. And shit at the start of the season. Not impressed. Team selections have been negative and rubbish.
He wasnt negative enough today. Playing 442 is madness at city unless you have a pair of wingers at the top of their game

The one thing I thought would improve with Moyes was that Valencia wouldn't start week in week out.

5 points off the top mate.

What I don't get and it's not just Moyes as we saw it under Fergie at times as well although in fairness that may have been down to form, but why is it that we seem to be the only top team that wants top defensive strength out wide/up front over actual attacking quality. I mean Navas and Nasri do not offer more defensive cover than Nani and Kagawa do, and certainly not more than a combo from nani/kagawa and young/valencia. But we've opted for the latter two both playing a lot now and I just don't see what we get from them. I mean you can argue Chelsea are going that route as well but Hazard/Oscar as part of their two in attack are clearly more creative and they at least aren't as strong in the middle so you could maybe see why Mour wants more from wide.

Valencia and Young pose a threat on the counter but it always feels they need things going in their favor and additionally I just don't think we've got the defensive strength necessary to play that way against top attacking teams.

Its hard to say how much was cause of city dropping off being 4 up, but there such a clear difference in the fluidity of the team once Young came off. Welbeck isn't creative but he will come infield and link up in a way Young won't often enough and Young simply does not put in enough good balls from the left. With Valencia holding his width on the right and approaching his game in a very rigid way between them we're very one dimensional. And the other thing is having better attacking players on the pitch can let you relieve pressure of yourself. Like I said there's no way nani and/or kagawa will track back less than nasri/navas, but in open play they could do more individually and as part of the team.

I think it was understandable that Moyes was hesitant to play the likes of Kagawa/Nani earlier in the season as he didn't know them/they were injured. But I think going forward we have to address the situation. Both Young and Valencia seem to have largely continued their form from last season, there's no reason to think Nani hasn't either but he and Kagawa need to be given a chance and I don't think the not knowing kagawa card can be played anymore. He's been in training for a while now and there's been plenty of opportunity to watch some past games from him.

Had a plan to deal with the tough start to the season - it has failed.

What was it Petestorey and every other WUM said when we appointed him... The Evertonization of United has started... he's following the script completely so far.

Fellaini now used up front...

i suggest you log out for a couple if hours. youre either a fecking dickhead or are too wound up to talk sense.
