Buttner - Ferdinand - Evans - Smalling
Lindegaard

moyes will field a strong team here, a win and we are a step closer. this might not be the main priority or the biggest trophy in the world but a cup is a cup and given our situation in the league, a league cup triumph would be something for moyes to build for. i reckon there will be 3 or 4 changes from villa, the maximum.

Is Vidic fit? He always enjoys games like the Stoke one where he gets a load of clearances

Should Rio play I hope he is much improved from Shaktar game

Be good to see Hernandez, Anderson, Nani and Zaha get a game

I think Moyes will a strongish team. I dont think we have fielded a weak side so far so I hope Zaha and Hernandez can make an appearance.

Moyes knows that the appeal of a double-legged tie against City or Chelsea will galvanise the club. A loss will send us back to Newcastle.

I'd like to see Anderson play. Without the benefit of an insight to training, I believe that he's been done a bit harshly by Moyes this season. Our other options have generally been poor, so I don't see why he hasn't had more opportunity, especially given that he probably has more ability than them anyway. I don't think his inconsistency should have him ruled out altogether when the others have been equally inconsistent.

Why are people now putting Lindegaard in? Do you look back at others and think 'I'll try to be different...'
DDG should be our GK.
Hopefully team will be

DDG
Rafael Evans Jones Fabio*
Fletcher**Cleverley
Zaha Rooney Nani
Welbeck***
* I wish!
** If fit, if not then I'd like to see Ando
*** Hernandez needs a game, so perhaps dropping Welbeck behind Hernandez? But I'd rather play Danny up top and get him more experience

Because Lindegaard played in the last round. Majority of big clubs these days tend to stick with the 2nd choice keeper throughout cup campaigns.

Amos was on the bench at Villa no? Wonder if he's above Anders in the pecking order or if Anders is injured again.

Amos is on-loan at Carlisle

Lindegaard was on the bench against Aston Villa

Johnstone is our number 3

Oh!

I saw a 'keeper doing some warm up stuff pre-game v Villa and it wasn't Anders so presumed it was Amos and that he was on the bench seeing as he was there. Nevermind!

Well Moyes pretty much said he's going to rotate so I expect to see Zaha, Young, Fletcher, Buttner and Lindegaard feature. Not sure who's back from injury, that may change a few things.

If Vidic, Van Persie, Carrick, Hernandez, Kagwa, Smalling & Fellaini (Suspended) are out.........

Starting XI:...........Lindegaard
Rafael.....Ferdinand...................Evans........Büttner
..........-..Cleverley.................Anderson
.Nani....................... Giggs.......................Young
...........................-.Rooney

Bench: De Gea, Fabio, Jones, Fletcher, Januzaj, Zaha & Welbeck

Rest: Evra & Valencia

But of course i hope Vidic, Hernandez & Kagawa are available

Manchester United will check on Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kawaga, who both missed the weekend win at Aston Villa, before naming their side for tomorrow'sCapital One Cupquarter-final at Stoke, which will be the commentary match in 5 live Sport.
The absence of Hernandez was due to a head injury suffered in training, whilst Kagawa had not fully recovered from having his stomach pumped 10 days previously. Nemanja Vidic (Ankle) could be available after two matches on the sidelines but Robin van Persie (thigh) and Michael Carrick (Achilles) are definitely out.

Kagawa ha his stomach pumped?!

Ref =? Will be a big factor imo. Fearful of Stoke's 'enthusiasm' during a midweek, nighttime cup match.

people might feel above it but i hope they dont, the league cup is an important competition. it served us very well when ronaldo and co won it beating wigan that time and could have the same purpose just now. keep some silverware ticking over. a big final against city would be fantastic, weve a decent chance at a good champions league run now and a win on saturday will leave us 7 off top. this season can be salvaged between now and the end of january and a win tomorrow would be fantastic, followed by a semi final against sunderland.

will be very tough. i go 2-1 united after extra time.

Very positive post! I am giddy as feck after Sundays performance.I'd fecking love a good win and performance tonight, and then spank the hammers on Saturday. Our season can be salvaged if we hit a good run in what remains of this month and January.Good times ahead! At present we're sorting our squad out and preparing for change and the new regime is settling in.The league cup is just what we need to give the squad that feel good feeling! Pissed off I didn't apply for tonights game!! I remember some 20 years ago going to the old Victoria round and getting beaten 2-1 in a league cup game.Revenge will be sweet!

Would like to see Jones and Evans at centre back, they deserve a second run out. Would also like to see two of Nani, Januzaj and Zaha feature tonight, with Rooney in behind Hernandez. I reckon we'll hammer these lot 3-0.

I think it'll be a tough slog. We have a better record than most sides away to Stoke. They give the big teams a hard game at their place.

I'll go for a scrappy 2-1 to us. Crouch will score his usual scruffy header by pushing the defender down by the shoulders, the massive cheating cnut.

I hope Fletcher plays, and Welbeck starts centrally. I'd like to see Zaha get more than 8 minutes too. Give him an hour or so.
