This was a monumental mistake by United, i've yet to see what he offfers us. The sooner we cut him loose and let him go back to Everton the better. I know its harsh but it would be the best for all concerned.

That's just stupid thinking. All indications from the coaching staff at the club suggest that they are setting about giving him the fitness and positional sense to play the box to box role for us and that they feel given time he can adjust to that role and be an asset. Why not give him time to at least settle at the club before forming concrete views on his long term usefulness?
It's obvious why Moyes bought him. He offers us something our other midfielders don't, our midfield is shite, he was brilliant for Moyes' Everton side. Nobody can blame Moyes for pursuing him, in my opinion.
Physical presence and great in the air.
To be fair, he said he'd be the new Roy Keane. I can only imagine he means he's a bitter bastard.

Moyes would have expected an instant return on investment when buying Marouane Fellaini. I rate him highly in a certain type of team but I’m not sure he is a Manchester United player,’ Owen wrote on his Sportlobster blog.
I can't help but feeling he was a last resort type signing. After we had bids rejected for other midfielders we turned back to him at the last minute and therefore overpaid. Didn't want him then and he hasn't change my mind. As the other poster said of course I hope he improves and he proves me wrong but I just can't see it. I just don't see where he's just suddenly going to get the ability from. I know he's low on confidence but still regardless of that I don't think he's quite good enough to be a regular.

Not sure when the last game he played in was but feels like more than 2 weeks which was the time given to do the surgury on his wrist and recover I thought? Might have been a handy time to book him in, though suppose that's in hindsight.
I believe his last game was against Everton, 16 days ago. But I'm not sure it's a long enough period for recovery. I think they talked about a six-week recovery from the wrist surgery he needs?
Can someone help me out here as I don't recall much from his Everton days except his elbows..
Did he actually play this position for Everton? As I only recall the keeper/defenders hoofing it to him, him elbowing all around him and holding up the ball..
If he didn't play this position before, it's a bit unfair on the guy to expect him to do so
The thing that annoys me most is that we don't even seem to know ourselves what to do with him. When Moyes paid £30m for him I thought it was part of a master plan and Moyes was one step ahead of us all. If Moyes had just given a clear indication of his thinking, I'd have forgiven it.
I was looking for that clarity in his Press unveiling but even Moyes himself didn't even seem to know. "Uh well he can play in erm.. behind striker and uh, midfielder, I guess"
feck sake, he didn't even play last night and people are abusing the shite out of him.
Might be time for a change of paperHim being injured is fantastic, as I get to pretend he's not a United player.
Also, I read in the paper today that we haven't won a match that he's started.
Phil Jones has both of these qualities.
Phil Jones is a centre back being played out of position.

Call a spade a spade, he has lived up to his billing as a potential top midfielder for United. He has shown the attributes he has, once he manages to glue everything together... beware. Naysayers will be naysayers...

He played behind the striker for most of last season, and a bit the season before (for instance, the game we lost 4-2 or 4-3 to Everton where he and Pienaar scored in the last few minutes).

Prior to that he played in a holding role for Everton, where he's played for us. He also plays the holding role for Belgium.
I still think he'll hit stride as a United player, he's a better footballer than he's shown for us thus far imo.
What game?!
That would be the 4-4 game, I'd assume.
How anyone could get the details of that game wrong I'll never know.
4-2 up, Evra hits the post with a header.
Jones starts to warm up, then sheer shock as Everton get it back to 4-4, and Fergie still brings Jones on!
Rio taking a last min left foot pile driver from outside the area, but alas well saved.
At least we've got the Wigan away game to come we all thought...
How can anyone forget the Wigan away was before the Everton game?![]()
A traumatic day for us all. I'll forgive you this repressed memory and factual errors.

Yeah, other than the fact that that didn't happen it's an excellent point.
