Leave Women's Football Alone!!!
Our good form started with the signings of Coutinho & Sturridge back in January. In fact I think our league form in the 2nd half of last season was 2nd only to Arsenal. Most people dismissed us (including a lot of Liverpool fans tbh) as potential top 4 candidates based on our 7th place finish in the league. But not many took into account the amount of work Rodgers had to do in the first place by getting rid of a lot of dross, & getting the side to play the way he wanted them too. Any side that can score 42 goals in 17 league games needs to be taken seriously. Even if one man has largely been responsible for a lot of those goals. But having said that, Daniel Sturridge hasn't been doing too badly himself. It's easy to forget that he's not played the past few games. & it's also easy to forget he was instrumental in us winning 7, drawing 2, & losing just 1 of the 10 games Suarez missed through suspension.
There's a massive air of incredulity on here at seeing Liverpool doing aswell as they are. It's probably been compounded by United's less than flattering start under new manager David Moyes. Some people are reassuring each other that Liverpool's sudden rise is only a temporary thing, & the normal cycle of us falling away will soon take place (albeit a bit later than usual). They may be proved right in the long-run, because none of us know the future. However, considering how far we've come in just a short space of time, & looking at the way we play the game. The evidence suggests that the we're very much moving in the right direction. I'd be interested to know exactly why people are so sure we can't be competing for major honours anytime soon.
I for one am not surprised at Liverpools current position. I think they will finish right up among the money. They have the best striker in the EPL at present, they have signed some very talented players, Coutinho being one of them and Rodgers has got them playing quality football, I think the slagging off of Liverpools current position is a mixture of ignorance and blindness. I dont think this is a temporary thing and I dont think their squad is as weak in depth as others think. I remember the days when Liverpool were top of the pile and right now is the first time in over 20 years I have felt they are playing in a way which reminds me of back then. Add in the Anfield factor to a decent squad and a decent manager and Liverpool fans for the first time in a long time have every reason to be optimistic.
Decent manager, decent squad, the team is confident, they will have their off days but they are a serious danger this season.
