I enjoy reading the posts of those trying to convince themselves that Liverpool definitely won't win.
The best was how The Istanbul match thread was nowhere to be found to this dayI made a post on 26/5/05. Bad mistake.
OK. That explains a lot. Cheers.Nope but sounds racist.
Good point. I forgot they have still to play each other again.Liverpool can't win all their games if City win all theirs and vice versa.
Which end are you in mate?
Costa has played 30 games with 25 goals and 3 assists. He does take penalties. Messi has played 24 games and has 23 goals and 10 assists. Ronaldo and Suarez both have played the same number of league games (27). Ronaldo has 28 goals and 8 assists. He's the penalty taker for his team. Suarez has 29 goals and 11 assists. He doesn't take penalties. Incredible.
I know this may amaze some Liverpool fans, but converted penalties also count as goals.
I know it may amaze some United fans but Liverpool fans do understand that penalties count and only the most gormless would think that was the point of Barney's comparison.
Let them have their time in the sun. It's also convenient for Liverpool fans to only count league games as that is the only area where Suarez' stats better Ronaldo's. If you count all games played Ronaldo stats are better, including goals per game. It's also worth noting that Ronaldo has played 40 club games this season while Suarez has played 31. That nine game difference is mostly made up of a Champions League campaign which only makes Cristiano's stats all the more impressive.
Suarez is having a phenomenal season. He is one of the best players in the world, but, the constant comparisons with Ronaldo are wide of the mark, in my opinion.
comparatively ronaldo has 8 penalties from his 28 goals in the league, 11 total (including champions league). that means without penalties it's 29 goals for suarez versus 20 goals for ronaldo in the same number of appearances.Suarez all around, has possibly played better than Ronaldo this season in my opinion. I mean you have to factor in that, that Madrid team is far far better than that Liverpool side. He's certainly at the very least equaled Ronaldo. 29 league goals, I don't think 1 penalty.

I was just having a dig at Chabon who had the gall to be patronising while completely missing the point.
The CAF must surely have turned into a red and white version of RAWK; with exaggeration, there are more popular threads on Liverpool than on United.
The point being what, that you lot have developed a weird obsession with not counting penalties as goals so at to prove that Suarez isn't merely extremely good but the best player on the planet? The entire footballing internet is invariably swamped by nonsense from Liverpool fans constantly seeking to prove how they are the best ever at everything ever.
As I've said before, it's just like when you had a great midfield. That wasn't enough though, it had to be THE BEST MIDFIELD IN DA WORLD!!!
It's a lot harder to convert a penalty than say, a ball in front of an open goal set up by a clever pass from a team mate. To my mind it's just a very good chance set up by a teammate, same as any other.
Of course, that's also why I think winning a penalty should definitely count as an assist, which is something that goes very much in Suarez's favour.

if you give suarez all the penalties gerrard has scored in the league (8), it means suarez would have already smashed the premier league record having scored 37 goals in only 27 appearances.. and that compares to the 29 goals ronaldo has in 27 games including penalties.
it's not really that close in my opinion. suarez is having an unbelievable season.
What an odd post. Trying to spin a narrative to suggest scoring from a pen is more difficult than in open play? It's a lot harder to convert a penalty than say, a ball in front of an open goal set up by a clever pass from a team mate. This season 84% of penalties have been scored. That suggests there's a high chance that you will score when presented with the opportunity. Obviously it's a skill and well done to those who take them but being a regular penalty taker is not equivalent to that of a regular goal scorer in open play. To suggest so is deluded or just convenient as you attempt to find any angle to sway the Ronaldo v Suarez stats debate. There's plenty of much easier chances that come up in open play. An awful lot of penalties get missed, y'know.
So let's say you were given the option to win the Champions League this year but at a cost of Liverpool winning the next 3 Premier League titles. Would you take it?
I am not a United fan, but if I were, I would say: YES!!!
The Champions League is worth so much more than anything else in club football. It's worth any price imaginable. Even selling your soul to the devil.
To give you the significance, it would mean liverpool overtake our League Title's record to go 21/20 and leave us one behind them but we'd also get within one of their 5 European cups.
