Dissapointed more with Smalling not being played then anything else in the team, looking forward too seeing how Mata and Hernandez link up

Giggs is going the experience route. Makes no sense to have Rio and Vidic in there. Our aim should be to get the youngsters some game time now. I really hoped Giggs would go down that route rather than stick with two CBs who are more or less destined to not be at the club this coming season.

Glad to see Nani start. That aside the rest of the team is meh, how the feck does Young get starts?

Calm down, Giggs is under pressure now to win for Europa League, these games are not completely useless now.

Exactly, the idea that he is under no pressure and these are nothing games is nonsense. The fans might not appreciate the Europa League but to the board it's millions in revenue next season.

That makes it even more questionable why he plays Young over Januzaj or Kagawa. Having Smalling instead of one of the oldie makes us better too.

Good team, hope to see Mata further up the pitch, like a shadow striker.

On paper, it could be lethal. Hernandez's best form, for me, came in 2010/11, when he had Rooney playing as a classic No.10 behind him. If Sunderland leave any space 'in behind', then you can see the combination of Mata's incisive through balls and Hernandez's pace and finishing abilities working wonders.

It’s weird that Vidic plays so many games although we know he is off in the summer, not to mention we have some good CBs to cover. The same with Ferdinand.

Well, I really wanted to see Welbeck up front and Mata behind him from the start, I guess it won’t happen this season then. Great to see Nani.

and?? Smalling has been our best CB this season. Certainly better than Rio. It doesn't make sense that he shouldn't start.

I think it's just giving Rio and Vidic a run out before they leave the club, we have a game on Tuesday remember where one or both Vidic and Rio won't be playing. This way we have fresh legs in both games.

I hope Nani has a spectacular performance, he really needs it to get some confidence going which would probably improve his game a lot. A lucky goal/assist/dribbling raid early can hopefully help him finish the game strong.

Young is getting starts because he's a Giggs style player and he probably appreciates his pace and willingness to bomb forward. He's in there for athleticism.

Nani is a surprising start he was pretty useless against everton and i wouldn't be surprised of he's already signed a deal with another club. Looking forward to seeing Hernandez play and hopefully a cameo from RVP.

Very surprised there's no Kagawa, he was impressive against Norwich and was top class in running the show. I assume Giggs thinks they will play Johnson in which case Young is a better option to help Evra out.

Watching Mata is always a joy to behold.

You gotta laugh. Even under Sir Alex, lots of folks moaned about the starting line up. Maybe smalling has a knock? Or a personal issue? It's always black and white with some. Good team.

I know people don't like young, I don't either, but look at it objectively. Giggs likes pace out wide and to stretch the pitch, nothing wrong with that. Nani playing on the right means he needs to balance it out a bit with the left winger being a bit more secure. Januzaj would probably be too offensive at this stage still, and giggs wants to get 4 wins out of 4 and get into the Europa league because these aren't meaningless games for them. He trusts them, he trusts the experienced defenders (for good reason too), and so he'll go with them. We play midweek too so we'll see kagawa, januzaj smalling and others all getting a game then most likely.

No AJ. I'd like to see he and Nani together at the start of a match though if I was defending in back of them I'd be terrified of the prospect. As for the Europa league, meh.......skip that and go find another sponsor.
I should say if we win out and don't make Europa it wouldn't bother me, but I don't pay the light bill at Old Trafford. Just win.

Good that he is giving everyone a chance, but bit unfair on Smalling though since he is our best defender this year IMO.

Also it's great to have everyone in their proper positions. You could argue jones looks better at right back then center back as well. Say what you want about the selections but giggs puts a team that knows what heir doing, and we play with a purpose. Way better then what moyes did.

Januzaj not starting again and Young starting instead of him? What's up with that? Is Giggs trying to ruin his only shot at playing in the world cup?

Also, how does Ferdinand start ahead of Smalling? This is one of the reasons why I don't want Giggs to be our manager. Is he starting his friends?

We played the side with the worst away record. Lets not get carried away. We would have probably won 3-0 with Moyes. It was one game.

Would have preferred Januzaj and Welbeck to Young and Hernandez.

They'd never bring him to the WC anyway.

Good team, it shows how large our squad is when Kagawa one of our best player in the last match can not make the bench (or maybe injury is a factor?). Nevertheless, if Van Gaal takes charge, I hope he looks at trimming the squad and stop the constant rotation policy adopted by his predecessor. At this point, I do not see why we should continue play players that might be leaving. Their stock will not increase these last few matches.

Gutted with the starting line up. Absolutely hate seeing a midfield of Carrick and Fletcher. Not a big fan of Cleverley or Fellaini but I'd rather see one of them in there. Also with the inclusion of Rio and Vidic we basically have a spine of OAP's over 30 in the team and I can see us getting run over through the centre of the pitch. To top it all off we have Young for who the less said the better. Would have loved to see Januzaj there instead.

But I guess one thing we have all learnt is not to judge the game on line ups too quickly. Quite a few times we have had good line ups and played really bad

Januszaj's young enough, he'll get plenty of opportunities and will before long in this game. As for the rest, it's a strong team and Giggsy's the one who sees who in training and will be aware who's chomping at the bit

We have another game in a couple of days, I'm sure Adnan etc will get their chance.

Adnan's shot at playing at the WC will come when Wilmots assesses his suitability when he meets up with the national team. Why would Giggs try to ruin it? People don't half post some rubbish on here.

I'm talking about selections. Giggs likes a team with pace out wide and up front as well as skill, and to have an attacking team, which he's clearly done. Moyes had no idea what he wanted and changed he style and selection every week. Giggs changed a few players, but overall the team style is still the same and I can see us getting a nice win here too. Nani and young out wide can stretch them with their pace, Hernandez up top and then mata in behind feeding them passes.

OK fair enough. You said we play with a purpose though. We only really did that for 45 minutes last week. It's a bit premature to say that. I agree that Giggs picks his side knowing what he wants though.

Overall I'm really glad to see Nani starting a game and I hope he surprises us but I'm not so thrilled about Young. He frustrates me too much when he has a good opportunity to deliver the ball and he goes backwards to the fullback instead or tries the impossible shot.

Overreaction. Giggs is just being Ferguson, and rotating in the exact same manner. Other than Fellaini, Adnan and Smalling, every other first team player has now started a match in the first two games. Shite, but expected.
