I called it when people were slating him for the interview, now it's proven that it was rehashed, now it's all rosy again.

£60m for Pogba. Repeated attempts to bring him back.

Telegraph saying the same but that it's unlikely we'll go for him.

Just bring him back already.........60 million is cheap for a player that would transform our cack midfield into one of europes best...Woody and LVG would be nuts not to go for him.......I think all Pogba wants at this point is his 200,000 Pounds a week contract somewhere and he will go to the first club offering him that and we most certainly will not be the only ones interested... ..I just can't see it happening as the likes of Madrid and PSG will be only too happy to offer him more than us....he deserves a second chance here and if he was on 200,000 a week here then I don't think he would be looking to leave anytime soon.....but he'll go to PSG

His head will turn for whoever offers him more money. Every time.

When will people start to learn Pogba went for game time and not money? :wenger:

Its easy for them to delude themselves into thinking the club didn't feck this up.
Even though Gill has already come out on numerous occasions to say he was offered a very competitive deal to stay.
He didn't play, we didn't assure him of playing time, Juve did. Good thing we learnt and haven't done the same to Januzaj

Agreed.

I don't buy into that for a second.........Fergie was going to Retire at the end of the 2012 season if Utd had won the league but seem as City pipped us on the last day - Fergie opted to stay on so that he could try to go out with a bang.....It was this reason that he overlooked Pogba that year....So in that sense yes Fergie was completely to blame......But we were offering Pogba 20,000 quid it was reported at the time to extend his contract...Juventus snuck in behind our backs and offered him 30,000 quid and a guarantee of first team football which he would have been guaranteed at utd in the 2012-2013 season with us.....an extra 10,000 quid a week is a lot of money when your not on a huge salary .......add that to the fact that Pogba had the greediest agent ever in his ear about the benefits of moving to Juve and it's clear that Pogba left because Juve made him a better offer......he should have been given way more game time at Utd but at the same time he would have got as much football here as he would have got at Juve if he was a little more patient and Pogba in his heart knows that

No stop right there.
If you are a player and the manager is telling you hes going to give you playing time and instead he brings back Scholes out of retirement and plays Park and Rafeal in CM ahead of you. That give you absolutley 0 confidence to believe the manager is going to play you next season.

Fergie has form for this as he did it to Berbatov (telling him he wanted him to stay and then not playing him)

He did what was best for his career given the circumstance and I am happy for him that hes got playing time and is doing well. We had a chance to play him and we didn't the manager didn't trust him. At the time it maybe it was the right decision, however in hindsight we can see that it wasn't.

I'm pretty sure if we had played him that season and gave him game time he would have signed a contract with us.

That was the final straw I guess. That would have been a body blow to any footballer to see players playing out of position ahead of you.

I agree with you, If we had offered him more playing time, he would have most likely stayed.

Enough of the talk about how and why he left the club, let's discuss where he's at in terms of his level of performances. By all means he had a great season this time around. Relegated Marchiso to a squaddie and was in the top 3 performers at Juve(behind Tevez and Vidal)

I don't know, but while he is quite obviously incredibly gifted and plays great football I just feel he isn't doing enough yet for his level of ability. It just seems to me like he pretty much coasts through games. He's definitely IMO not someone you'd classify as a trier. Somewhat different to the likes of Barkley who seem like they want to take over the game every time that they step onto the field.

If he does ever develop that side of his game they'll literally be nothing holding him back. Its so rare to see a footballer so complete. He can pass it, shoot it, drive it, dribble and he has strength to spare. He also finds it incredibly easy to take the ball from opponents. Perhaps the critism I have of him is just a matter of him growing up and understand what he's totally capable off cause he's limiting himself as far as I can see.

He doesn't need to try to take over a game because he does it naturally, I hate him as much as the next United fan but he contributes a lot to Juventus and I think for a 20 year old he's incredible, he starts off a lot of attacks with the simplest of passes which will bypass 2/3 player and take them out of the game.

The second part I agree with but for some reason I don't think his attitude will hold him back and I think he will be one of those rare players that fully fills out his potential.

Disagree with that. He actually doesn't take over much at Juve, naturally or unnaturally. He threatens to, but never really does(I.e first half of the home CL game vs madrid, and he was playing out of position!). He's almost always at his base level, which is pretty high.
I don't hate him, I actually love watching him play. I don't blame him for one moment for leaving a club where he wasn't getting game time because the manager preferred inferior players. He's the perfect combination of physique and technique. His contribution to Juve is undoubted, he's doing great things for them but IMO could be doing more despite his age. He's heavily developed already as a player. He's atm what you'd call a one paced player.

One thing we've learned from football history is that the great box to box mids leave it all out there, he isn't doing enough of that and has all the ability to do so.

Interesting that both the Telegraph and Guardian have said that he is open to a return. The Guardian article didn't say that the £60 million quoted put us off. I would imagine if he does leave it will be for far less than that figure in any case. An offer of £30 million + Hernandez should turn Juve's head.

Will it though? Hernandez has been touted at around 10 mil, a deal totalling 40 mil will hardly turn their heads.

Pogba's a fantastic player already, and will definitely improve over the next couple of years. The thing is though, spending that much on someone we let go for free just feels wrong.

I'd value Hernandez at £15-20 million personally. The man just guarantees goals. Imagine how many he would get if he was given a regular run in the team?

Have we any choice? SAF f****d up big time with Pogba. It is his second worst mistake after his decision to pick Moyes as his successor. Barcelona lost Fabregas as a 16 year old and paid over £30 million to bring him back. Chelsea paid a decent fee to bring Matic back after including him in the deal for Luiz. We will just have to take our medicine and pay whatever it takes. We will just be compounding our error in letting him go if we don't buy him back.

He's worth a big investment, I would easily spunk £40million on him. Rather to spend big now and invest for the future, he has potential to be the best midfielder in the world.

Highly doubt it. Think we'd have to spend £55m at least to get him. I'd do it though if it was up to me, think he's brilliant and will go on to be one of the best.

It doesn't sit well with me either, and its the main reason why I can't see this happening. Although then on the other hand, perhaps we should just go for it anyway and forget what went on before. He is, after all, exactly what we need.

Pogba is one of the best young players in the world. At 21 he is already a definite starter for a major club and major national team. His playing style is spectacular and he stands out with his attitude and antics (not in a Balotelli way) which makes him hugely marketable. We can do much better than getting 30m and a back-up striker. We do not want to sell him. It will take a blockbuster bid to get him. This is not a blockbuster bid.

What if we sweeten the deal with an overweight Brazilian?

I would consider Pogba to be worth around £50 million so £30 million + Javier Hernandez is pretty fair IMO.

I'd have no issue paying a ridiculous fee for Pogba but I just don't think that with his agent, he's ever gonna stay at a club for more than 3-4 years.

After 2 good seasons in the 4th best League in Europe? Really? Jeez!

The poster I was responding to thinks that offer wouldn't be sufficient. Considering the inflated transfer fees in football I think £50 million is about right for Pogba considering his age, current ability and potential.

Yeah, just like Ibrahimovic who has the same agent.

Even if we were prepared to part with daft money for Pogba, surely there's little chance he's going to come back here? It'd be like us re-signing Tevez. The amount he's given it large about United to journalists, I don't think he would want to come back, nor would we want to bring him back.

Which would be more or less perfect.

Lets use the £50 million fee that some are talking about (which in my opinion is definitely too much) he comes for 3 or 4 years and then Madrid take him for plenty more than we paid. We'll find someone new.
