Television The Caf' Anime Thread

Four episodes into Toradora, does it improve? School Rumble was so much better.

It's really is quite brilliant. Has a bit of everything.
I haven't read the manga for this but the voice actors do such a great job in this.
It's one of the rare times that the anime is better than the manga, the animators genuinely love it which is always a plus.

The Chimera Ant arc held my interest well once

Netero and Killua's grandad stormed Meruem's palace

it's just a bit grueling getting there.

I'm looking forward to see the second season of Sidonia no Kishi. So far, there are only few first episodes I like (among them "Plastic Memories" and "Arslan"). It's nice so I won't have a problem picking few to follow instead of being overwhelmed by trying to follow too many. Still I don't get why it's so difficult for me to follow more than 6 anime (it's only 2 weekly hours) while I waste my time trying to read so-so novels or novels that bore me (that takes at least one hour before I give up, if I give up).

Any One Piece watchers or manga readers?
Here, here! Been watching the anime and reading the manga for years now!

As for the Spring season, choices aplenty! There really are a lot of good animes this time around.

Do you mean that you read the chapter or what exactly

Yes !

It's quite coincidental really. Because of how long it's been going on (started reading it in 2000 when I was in 5th grade), now I read it once every couple to months (like 10 chapters in one go) to save time. Picked it up yesterday and boom !

Gear 4.

I don't like the whole Dressrosa Arc a lot though TBH. Been a downhill slope since Marineford. Either that, or I'm just getting too old to read Shounen.. :(

It's true it's been underwhelming for a while now but if you read the whole Dresseosa Arc as a whole and from it's beginning to the end I think it would seem a lot better than reading chapter by chapter, anyway I think it was necessary that this arc was to be done so Luffy would beat the strongest shichibukai/second strongest after Mihawk? to show how much he has grown, I'm guessing next it should be a yonko(Big Mom or Kaido) or an admiral to show he is on the right path to becoming the Pirates King, although it is also possible Oda would make him fight the strongest out of the bad generation like maybe Drake just to take it step by step. Also we still don't know how much stronger other crew members have become, other than Zoro, Luffy, and Franky, non had a serious fight, I would like to see Sanji getting a power up and maybe Chopper.
Who do you think will join the crew after the arc? I'm betting on Bellamy still.
Edit: Also would like to say that the Marineford Arc was such an amazing arc that it would be very hard to top that.

Such as? Last time I had a look nothing really stood out and looked to me like it would be that good

For me, the biggest turnoff was

Sabo's reveal. Where was he when Ace died ?

After that, it's just basically fan-service. Lots of shite characters, dwarfs, slow pacing, pointless fights. Ah well, atleast it's better than Punk Hazard.

As for the next Strawhat, I genuinely have no idea. Trafalgar Law would've been badass but it's not gonna happen. Bellamy or Jinbei or Barthomolew will be predictable.. Kuzan would be my favorite choice ! He did say he will stop chasing Robin, and he doesn't really have a crew either. But it's not gonna happen either..

Since Sabo is in the revolutionary army it's kind of acceptable he didn't go the the marines headquarter to save ace, they have much bigger plans than to risk somebody like him going there.
I wouldn't want Bartho joining as he just doesn't seem special or strong enough and he has his own crew so he won't just leave them and join, he'll be an ally though just like Law, Jinbei seems really strong and we've still not seen him going to his full strengths he had a crazy bounty before, something like 500 millions or something, so I'm excited to see what he's fully capable of, Bellamy has really become a lovable character this arc and him being without a crew and out of his current crew it just makes so much sense for him to join the straw hats, though he still is not as strong as Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji but much stronger than the rest of the crew, maybe at Frankys level.
Kyros seems very strong and noble maybe he could join the crew somehow?

Jinbei was already asked to join, wasn't he? He could join after Luffy fights Big Mom's crew at some point
Yes he was, and he promised to join as soon as he finished some on going business he had, although I think he will join the fight against Big Mom not after

Have you read yesterdays chapter?
I have! I was quite surprised at the end, but now can't wait to see what Oda will come up with. I'm not a whole fan of the arc myself, there have been some nice bits here and there but overall I feel like it's dragging on for way too long.

On the subject of the new nakama, I'd love it if it's Barto! Guy is utter mad :D Though I feel his antics would wear-off rather quickly if we were to see him every episode. There's only one possible new nakama and we all know who that is.

Such as? Last time I had a look nothing really stood out and looked to me like it would be that good

Well, personally I'm interested in Arslan Senki, Kekkai Sensen, Owari No Seraph, Nisekoi, Ore no Monogatari, Shokugeki no Souma, Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darouka. These are just off the top of my head, think there were a few more.

Started watching Attack on the Titan today. 6 episodes so far, it is brilliant.

Finished Toradora! yesterday. Some storylines could have been better and it wasn't as funny as School Rumble, but the romance part of it was spot on.

Started Dangan Ronpa, which seems like a Battle Royale type of show. But more subtle and less entertaining, so far.

Watched Terror In Resonance. Thought it would be decent since it was directed by the same guy behind Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Space Dandy.

It's awful, I watched through to the end because it unintentionally became a comedy....

"You're kidding..."

Rewatched Darker than Black. Totally worth it !

Wish they'd remake Claymore though. So much potential, and such a premature ending.. :(

Finished Attack on the Titan. 25 episodes in a day is insane, even for me. I guess I need some measure of safe control.

Didn't like how things went one in the end though. Titans were more intereting when they were brainless zombies.

There was something about it that made you keep wanting to watch it - but if you asked me why it was good, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Loved it when I was watching it - but have forgotten most of it since then. I can barely remember their names despite only watching 2-3 months ago

What would you rate it?

Also you might wanna spoiler that last bit.

I honestly don't think 3.33 is commercially out yet, been eagerly awaiting that one as well. NGE is the bomb really.

The English one isn't. I read somewhere they're aiming for August ish to release that dub.

Agreed though. Only watched bits and pieces before of NGE, but ripped right through 1.11 and 2.22. Amazing
