Feck sake Casillas, grow a spine and stand your ground.
If true, I'm just glad it's coming to an end soon and we can move on.
When you consider the CL and PL prize money, the degree to which results influence future transfer possibilities and the risk of us finishing 5th next year if either Liverpool rebound or Pochettino gets Spurs going, or the very real possibility of finishing 4th but having Italy pip England for the 4th CL spot (only about 3 points behind and they beat England by 6 this past year)...
I don't think 18M is that much money. I'd let him run out his contract here.
We also had to put up with all of his stupid tweets about his talentless missus and her 'music' career. Money in the bank that.£18m. Pretty much what we paid for him. It'll be like we've had him on a four year loan, developed him into one of the world's best, and then just giving him back.

David de Gea has told Real Madrid that he will not push for a move. RM are convinced a transfer will happen this summer. [cope]
MUFC have asked Real Madrid to include Karim Benzema in a deal for David de Gea. [cope]
Jorge Mendes is insisting that Karim Benzema goes to #mufc. Florentino Perez has refused. [cope]
but no doubt he likes other aspects of her.
Agreed, Neuer.Would anyone agree with me that a better communicating GK than DDG would be better for us?
And if you consider that we are going to improve and invest, there is no reason to think that we couldn't be better than Spurs and Liverpool.
That's the thing, he has had great goalkeeping coaches since he's been here. Looking at the way the Real goalies have gone, he might regress pretty quickly. I wish him well at the same time hoping he falls flat on his face. Very mixed feelings.£18m. Pretty much what we paid for him. Nine out of ten games he plays he'll have little to do, so you make a fair point. That's the thing, he has had great goalkeeping coaches since he's been here. Sure, but it's not set in stone or anything. And again, Italy may well grab the 4th CL spot instead of England, so we may have to finish ahead of Chelsea, Citeh or Arsenal to qualify for it in 16-17. I expect Chelsea to still finish ahead of us and Citeh look to be buying just as big as us (De Bruyne would be a massive upgrade for them) and Arsenal ended the season looking better than us.
18M isn't a huge amount of money for a club like us when you're talking about a serious downgrade, which we are. Didn't Falcao more than that for one yea, including his loan fee? Google brings up varying numbers but the lowest, including the loan fee, is still 16M.
Falcao was coming off serious injuries and an 11 in 17 season for Monaco at a position where we had Van Persie and Rooney (assuming Chicharito was never in Van Gaal's plans). How did that make sense, even if he'd ended up being a solid B+ instead of a D+, but De Gea for a similar cost when we know how good he is, he has no serious injuries and he'll be in his age 25 season, not?
Here is how see the situation, if we keep him we lose +18m (I say 'plus' because I think that we will have more than that), De Gea will leave on a free in 2016 and we will have to replace him without the money we could have gain from him, and here is the thing, you said it yourself we are facing tough competition and I believe that every pennies will count whether it's in wages or transfer fees, therefore we should optimize it.
Now, it doesn't prevent us from squeezing as much as we can out of Madrid.
Was there a queue of buyers for these lads?If every penny counts, why did we spend so much on a 3rd #9? Why did we get nothing for Cleverley at at time when English players all go for crazy figures? Why did we loan Hernandez out instead of selling him with 2 years on his deal and higher value?

If Casillas is indeed leaving then a fee between United and RM has already been agreed, surely? Otherwise they would not let Casillas go.
I wish we either insist on at least 30 mil £ or keep him for one more year and let him go for free.
