If true, I'm just glad it's coming to an end soon and we can move on.

I think most of us have begrudgingly accepted that DDG is off and now the question seems to be should we sign Cech or Lloris.

£18million? I hope Madrid are selling us Bale for £30million as a reciprocated goodwill gesture otherwise :wenger:

When you consider the CL and PL prize money, the degree to which results influence future transfer possibilities and the risk of us finishing 5th next year if either Liverpool rebound or Pochettino gets Spurs going, or the very real possibility of finishing 4th but having Italy pip England for the 4th CL spot (only about 3 points behind and they beat England by 6 this past year)...

I don't think 18M is that much money. I'd let him run out his contract here.

And if you consider that we are going to improve and invest, there is no reason to think that we couldn't be better than Spurs and Liverpool.

£18m. Pretty much what we paid for him. It'll be like we've had him on a four year loan, developed him into one of the world's best, and then just giving him back.
We also had to put up with all of his stupid tweets about his talentless missus and her 'music' career. Money in the bank that.

Never liked Barcelona much but i hope they will dominate la Liga for years while van Gaal builds an exciting side which will play a major part in the Champions League and England.

Hopefully de Gea will regret leaving Manchester for the circus in Madrid at the end of his career (if he leaves but it looks like he will) and other players will think twice before signing for that freakshow of a club.

Vamos Neymar! Vamos Suarez! I hate them both

I don't wish ill on De Gea. He pretty much secured us 4th this season. I do, however, wish ill on Madrid. Hooe they fonish trophyless and get fecked over countless times by Barca and Atletico in the league and by us in the Champions League for years to come.

She has some talents... its just not her music. I thought de Gea likes music like Slayer and such, i cant believe he really likes any of her music but he may like other aspects of her.

David de Gea has told Real Madrid that he will not push for a move. RM are convinced a transfer will happen this summer. [cope]

MUFC have asked Real Madrid to include Karim Benzema in a deal for David de Gea. [cope]

Jorge Mendes is insisting that Karim Benzema goes to #mufc. Florentino Perez has refused. [cope]

I'll be OK with him going if we get Cech, but by all accounts Cech wants to stay in London due to his family, so we're potentially losing a better GK and in the process Arsenal are strengthening theirs.

I could of accepted this very easily if a decent player came from Madrid also, but that looks unlikely. So we're selling the second best keeper in the world for not enough because he has a year left on his contract.

What a bag of shite.

£18m is a bad price, though I guess it was inevitable we weren't going to get much given the circumstances. Something around £25m would have been fair....

There is no way this can happen at that price, and certainly not next week.

If it does then we have lost, and we will be laughed at and rightly so.

We need to hang on until we get a much better deal, or he has to stay.

Sure, but it's not set in stone or anything. And again, Italy may well grab the 4th CL spot instead of England, so we may have to finish ahead of Chelsea, Citeh or Arsenal to qualify for it in 16-17. I expect Chelsea to still finish ahead of us and Citeh look to be buying just as big as us (De Bruyne would be a massive upgrade for them) and Arsenal ended the season looking better than us.

18M isn't a huge amount of money for a club like us when you're talking about a serious downgrade, which we are. Didn't Falcao more than that for one yea, including his loan fee? Google brings up varying numbers but the lowest, including the loan fee, is still 16M.

Falcao was coming off serious injuries and an 11 in 17 season for Monaco at a position where we had Van Persie and Rooney (assuming Chicharito was never in Van Gaal's plans). How did that make sense, even if he'd ended up being a solid B+ instead of a D+, but De Gea for a similar cost when we know how good he is, he has no serious injuries and he'll be in his age 25 season, not?

That's the thing, he has had great goalkeeping coaches since he's been here. Looking at the way the Real goalies have gone, he might regress pretty quickly. I wish him well at the same time hoping he falls flat on his face. Very mixed feelings.

Nine out of ten games he plays he'll have little to do, so you make a fair point.

Here is how see the situation, if we keep him we lose +18m (I say 'plus' because I think that we will have more than that), De Gea will leave on a free in 2016 and we will have to replace him without the money we could have gain from him, and here is the thing, you said it yourself we are facing tough competition and I believe that every pennies will count whether it's in wages or transfer fees, therefore we should optimize it.

Now, it doesn't prevent us from squeezing as much as we can out of Madrid.

Ronaldo to Real Madrid was announced on Thursday, June 11, 2009.

De Gea to Real Madrid to be announced on Thursday, June 11, 2015?

If every penny counts, why did we spend so much on a 3rd #9? Why did we get nothing for Cleverley at at time when English players all go for crazy figures? Why did we loan Hernandez out instead of selling him with 2 years on his deal and higher value?

18 million is about what I expected, would be silly to sell him for that :(

Was there a queue of buyers for these lads?

i'm going to boycott the number 1 in protest.

Surely it'd be better to explain to DDG that Madrid are taking the piss and if they're not willing to pay a fair price he has to stay one more season? We don't need £18m as he doesn't seem the sort to be a cnut about it

I'm almost sure that we tried to sell all the players you mentioned and Falcao wasn't a 3rd choice, he was supposed to be our main striker and he failed, and we financed his arrival with Welbeck sale.

We made so many excuses for this geezer during his first season. Damn, what a slap in the face this feels like.

18m is terrible. I think I've finally got around that DDG is leaving but that's daylight robbery if it's accurate.

If Casillas is indeed leaving then a fee between United and RM has already been agreed, surely? Otherwise they would not let Casillas go.
I wish we either insist on at least 30 mil £ or keep him for one more year and let him go for free.

I have to think that as well. Otherwise, United could demand a higher fee for De Gea.

The £18m rumoured fee is an insult, if that's all we can get let him run his contract down and go on a free next season.
