Bundesliga 2015/2016

I know it's just Stuttgart, but can someone tell me what Alonso does that Kimmich can't do? Is there any rational reason why Kimmich doesn't start at least half the games?

What is the caf's verdict on Draxler's red card? It's probably legit, but I found it a bit harsh since he didn't even see him and didn't use excessive force.

gif?

I hope we don't stop scoring, we could get double digits today :D.

Nevermind actually. I only saw the last close up replay. The first angle of the gif makes it much clearer imho.

Bayern have proven that parking the bus won't really help you against them, especially in the AA. I think it's about time that some teams try to exploit Pep's very offensive lineups.

the red looks harsh. He's not even looking?

4:0 at half time. Now we can really get going in the 2nd half. Do it for Balu's dream of 100 goals!

I'm convinced that he didn't look, but the ref probably can't clearly tell that and regardless of that you probably have to expect that some opponent will be trying to head that ball.

It always amazes me a bit how steady Mainz are. Somehow they seem so stable and that's despite constantly losing players and getting their coaches poached by Dortmund.

Anyone else thinking that Hecking created a few too many problems himself at Wolfsburg? With all the public criticism and the 'punishments' ? Sure, a few players struggled for form, but some of his decisions look too harsh and it seems as if he's partly at fault that the team doesn't really find form.

Possibly.

Though I think the main problem is the lack of quality with De Bruyne gone. Dost and Bendtner is a joke of a strike force. 35m for Schürrle is a monumental blunder. And a glance at Draxler's recent seasons show he's not going to make too much of a difference (yet?)

I haven't watched that many Wolfsburg matches in full length, so I can't comment in detail. But in general I don't think communicating these matters via the press is a good or sustainable way to lead people. However de Bruyne from last season was easily world class and he turned them very much into a one man team, so losing someone like was always going to cause a lot of problems for a squad like Wolfsburg's and thus it's hard to say how much is down to Heckings mistakes and how much of their problems are caused by losing the heart and brain of their attack.

I think Draxler has been a bit hit and miss for them, not necessarily terrible. But as a one for one replacement for de Bruyne he was always going to fail, at least in the short term.

I agree with that. Kruse is missing as well. Arnold, Caligiuri, Dante, Träsch and Bendtner are not necessarily "cl-quality" players.
They started well this season, but they were fortunate in several games. In the long run the lack of quality is just fairly obvious (if they have the intention to finish in the top4).

Hecking for me is the kind of coach who would throw his own players under the bus to deflect from his own shortcomings. I never really warmed up to him even before Wolfsburg and have never rated him anywhere near the top of the league´s coaches.

That being said, De Bruyne leaving was simply a massive blow to them and they don´t have enough quality in the squad to really compensate that loss. They could still be lucky in the end, though, as outside Bayern, Dortmund and the ressurected Gladbach no team has really shown consistence to threaten them for the top 4. If Leverkusen and Schalke get their shit together that could change fairly quickly though.

So apparently two of Bayern's goals were offside and Stuttgart was robbed of one by another false offside ruling?

Not that Bayern wouldn't win anyway, but that's pretty ridiculous..

And the next really questionable decision in Leverkusen. Extremely harsh red to Papadopoulos after a tactical foul.

Badstuber for Müller. Very strange substitution positionwise, but great to see him back (yet) again.

He's not spanish... yes, that's cynical me speaking. :)

Steamrolling Stuttgart with ease, and then a bench of Benatia, Badstuber, Thiago, Martinez, Alonso and Lahm

I'm so happy, lost for words.

Checking the scores in the Bundesliga, just nodding to @Balu :D

It's good to have Mueller and Costa on your fantasy team.

To be fair, I did expect something like that today. We love to score goals against Stuttgart :D

But substitute them and the party ends.

But the other results are interesting right now...

So, Gladbach draws and both Leverkusen & Wolfsburg lose. If we win the derby tomorrow, we are up eight points to the third place and nine to the fourth. You can basically add another point aswell as the differences in GD are mental. On top of that we are already qualified in EL so we can rest players there. I would not be surprised if the differences grow to double digits by Christmas.

This could actually turn out to be a repeat of 2012/2013 with Bayern being unchallenged at the top and us concentrating on the cup competitions relatively early. Who klnows, maybe the season ends with another treble for Bayern but an additional international title for the Bundesliga. It is still slightly worrying that the main source of excitment could turn out to be the race for 3rd/4th and relegation battle.

A win. And a clean sheet. I'd almost forgotten how it felt. :)

The red card helped a lot. Looking at the replay, it seems fair enough really, even though Draxler's looking the other way. Still, good performance by the team, especially Latza was very impressive.

Let's wait until we've played both away games at Schalke and Gladbach before we talk about us running away with the league. 5 points isn't that much and we still have to play in Dortmund in the 2nd half of the year. I told you before that the gap between Dortmund and the rest of the league is much bigger than between Bayern and Dortmund and if you win tomorrow, I kinda feel proven right. If we play another 90 points season, Dortmund won't stand a chance of course. But I have doubts that we will.

I agree with that. Bayern still have to play all the big teams away and Pep's record in those games is actually quite poor. However, Bayern are just so consistent and have the deeper squad that I can't really see them losing the league title.

Common guys this is ridiculous. We all know Bayern will have won the league in early march again. Dortmund is much more likely to suffer a drop in form than Bayern. You can try to act like there is any kind of suspense left in the league it's not, only about who gets relegated and who might make the top four apart from Bayern and Dortmund but that's it.

barring a chelsea-esque drop in form or a serious injury crisis for bayern I don't see anyone in bundesliga usurping them, not this season at least.

relegation will be fun again. Ingolstadt and Darmstadt have done well so far, which puts a lot of pressure on other teams. Augsburg vs Bremen will be tense. Both teams need to pick up points.

I'm pretty certain Hannover will go down. They are absolutely terrible and are only one point ahead of the playoff place and three ahead of the relegation zone, with a lot of luck going their way.

Ingolstadt and Darmstadt will likely be part of the relegation battle, Bremen as well. I think Augsburg and Stuttgart will ultimately pick up the necessary points to stay up fairly comfortably.

Hoffenheim are the tricky one. Stevens is a poor choice of manager for them, his defensive style of football doesn't suit their squad at all and makes poor use of their fantastic attackers. I can see them drawing too many games and getting into real trouble.
