The days of Ronaldo being the 2nd BPITW are over.. as are the days where he could entertain the masses (that probably ended in 2008 tbh.. but he could still beat players and be Ronaldo 2.0 until perhaps WC 2014).
He will never be the same player again - that is a fact but why does everyone see that as a stick to beat him up with... he's realised his current limitations and he is doing what he can to stay relevant. To be fair to him, he's still racking up a fair number of goals.
Do I think he's getting past that point where he needs to leave Madrid because he may be a hindrance rather than an asset - possibly.. but I think he still deserves some credit for getting goals despite his physical powers waning, he is still being professional and doing the right things on the pitch unlike Rooney.
His goal against Sociedad was quality, deserves more credit for it.. not the sort of goal he usually scores, so it was nice to see,
