(on fans): I understand frustration. Soton were well organised. Lucky team (Soton) has won!

The gif of Darrel Strawberry crying in the simpsons sums up my feelings about this game.

It just hurt and it sucked

That is how I feel, sad and sick to the stomach most weeks. I even contemplate not following them anymore, but they are the team I love and will always love, so that isn't going to happen. This manager is destroying my club. Trouble is this board no there are people like me and you and the others who will support the club through thick and thin. They take our support for granted. :(:(

Indeed :(

Delighted for Austin today, his record and stats means he should be playing for a big club. Delighted he came on and scored from a football perspective.

As for Utd, same old shyte.

I dont and cant understand why LVG is still our manager but im now resigned to shit football and performances for the rest of the season.

And next season I reckon. If they were going to sack him because of shit football and mediocre results, he'd already be gone. He's here until the end of his contract.

I don't understand the players at times. There was no urgency, playing difficult rather than simple balls and giving away pointless free kicks.

Feck knows what Adnan was thinking. Rooney reverted to pre-Xmas form and effort, Smalling continuing his digressing, Blind playing his worse game in a United shirt. Lingard absolutely pointless being on the pitch. Fellani is just a foul machine. Only herrera and Schniederlin seemed to put in any effort.
This..

Maybe he has been told to be more measured and not run around too much. That takes everything away from the lad. I said somewhere else that I thought the players look mentally shattered, not so much physically. The tactics have been that rigid at times that they then look lost when things aren't working. I just want this manager to go. Let Giggs manage until the end of the season. See if things improve with him. Not sure what he could do about results but the play might be better. This manager has left us with a squad down to the bare bones and that is all his fault. He knew what we needed and didn't address some of the needs. Then get a new manager in the summer to reconstruct this squad.

Yes, it's quite obvious. The players just look mentally shattered, hence the playing with fear, lack of heart, you name it. They should take responsibility for their own performances but they just look out of it. Need a change, whatever it is, just bloody soon.

We are carrying far too many one dimensional players.

Fellaini plays because he's tall. Lingard because he's fast. Blind because well I'm not sure why. Darmian because well, there's no-one else.

Rory Delap made a PL career by being able to take a throw in. It's like our team is full of Rory Delaps.

I am going to have to improve my grammar, know not no. I have annoyed myself.:)

Grammatical errors are excused in the heet heat of the moment. :p

Back to the thread, surely there is no way back for LVG now, despite how bullish he sounds in the post-match interview with the 'both teams didn't create anything, they scored with their one chance'. He's been regurgitating that bullshit all season! Why does he expect us to have a 100% chance conversion rate? It truly baffles me.

Every team we play seems to become the most well organised defensive unit ever seen in the history of the EPL.
How can Norwich/Bournemouth/Newcastle who are whipping boys of the EPL, all become defensive masters, when they play us. Then, in their very next game, they go back to being shit?

The only logical reason: MUFC make other teams look better than they actually are.

Conceding the goal on a set piece wasn't the crime. The crime was the tactics that gave us no chance to win the game.

If this performance were an outlier, you brush it off and move on. But this is how we've played all season.

Any video of his post match bs?

He is just being incoherent. Says the game was winnable because SOT was poor too. Can only work further with his player to improve. Realises changes need to be made. Stressed the team won 3 times in 2016 (never mind the entirely unconvincing way we won them). Same steam pile of dung every week.

Not commenting re: questions on his job.
Re: Jan Transfers: One player cannot change everything. It's a process etc etc

Bullshit. These players are excellent technically, they just have no confidence and are being managed appallingly. A new manager can change that.
A new manager can change a lot of things, but he can't make them play quick enough to break down a well organized defence if the players can't pass accurately, have poor first touches, can't outturn anyone and can't cross. Every now and then they play at a high enough pace, but everytime it looks like they finally got it, they fall back into moving the ball around slowly. It must because they're not comfortable with moving the ball around at he high pace, because they don't have the technique. That's also visible if they do move the ball around at high pace, they hardly manage because they lack the real ability to do that and be solid.

A new manager can change it by changing the style to one that suits these players: Discard any ambition of modern football and a continental style, and just hoof it forward and rush.

He's like a record player on repeat. Yes a fecking record player, not an mp3 player. He's a tactical stubborn dinosaur who'd rather scribble things on his notepad and stay within the comforts on his seat than change anything.

Soton lost their previous 4 away games before this match.

Wasn't there a similar stat for Newcastle EG: they hadnt scored a single goal in 3 games or something. Then we play them and they score 3 against us.

It's the same old bluff from him after every game. I actually think that because the players were on such a high after last week he didn't do much motivationally this week. SAF would have reminded them that this is a different game and would have still been in their ears wanting a performance in this game.

Squad and team are a mess, manager has to go and season is a write off. Plans need to be made about how to rebuild the club.

When Paddy Crerand says we were awful, just awful... you know we were absolutely worthless.
 That is very true. Old Paddy would find a silver lining in anything and if he's given up, then it's end days now.

Surely his tenure is over now. He can't possibly be continuing now can he?

I don't blame him for wearing rose tinted glasses all the time with United but this time you could actually tell he was genuinely hurt by the performance.

MUTV - an ex united player Bojan (don't remember his last name) basically saying LVG should be fired...

I went the game today. Spent a lot of money on it. I was furious when I got out, but I thought it's not the time to post. Let's at least watch all the highlights of the game.

Well here I am 24 seconds later and I'm still fuming. Never seen such a lazy and gutless United performance. They are awful. You could tell watching them they were awful, but today every single player we had looked awful. What's worse is they didn't even care.

Obviously I try and be as positive as I can but that is simply not good enough. Not good enough at all. If he goes now, he can't complain, because that was absolutely awful.

He was going mad before the game about last nights Youth Cup game, about who is doing out scouting and that they were on another level. Even Paddy has given up.

Both teams today were poor in general, but Soton had the better game plan again at OT. Soton scored on their first and I believe only shot on goal. That's United-esque. Once Ward-Prowse came on, you just hoped the United players didn't make stupid fouls in their defensive half....but sure enough they did!

He said before the game that Morgan and Herrera should have been in the middle and that Mata should have started. It did pick up after the change, but as usual Mata disappeared. He obviously doesn't like Fellaini.

Southampton were the away side, how did he think they would play? Doesn't mean we had to play like an away side as well.

@Rood were you there today? What is the feeling like around the ground at the moment, and especially after the match today?

A really bad day for United. We got away with it for the last couple of weeks as all the teams around us dropped points, at one point today we looked like we could get away with it again, but Spurs and Liverpool both came back from being behind and Leicester destroyed Stoke. :(
