Angel Di Maria | Performances | Wife: "He only joined United for money. The food was disgusting. The women look like porcelain"

He didn't want to be here and it showed towards the end, but many fans of this club are stuck in some kind of purgatory.
Every player that dares to try the unexpected, a difficult pass or take on a player gets so much stick. Nani, Di Maria maybe even Depay. Those same fans are calling for more entertainment, I don't see how the hope to achieve that.
I can't remember a game Di Maria didn't manage to create something, however bad he was playing he was a difference maker. We need those players and we need to get behind them.

You need to be actually good at those things consistently not to get the crowd on your back. People can forgive Ronaldo taking 10 shots a game because he scored 50-60 goals a season.

Di Maria was unbelievably awful at crossing at some points last year. Having said that, RVP owed him atleast 5 assists last season, he put RVP clear a few times only for him to miss. There was an outside the boot chip pass that was just magical!

I feel ADM just needed to get his head down and try again this year. It would have eventually clicked on a more consistent basis. I look at Ozil flying now and think thats what would have probably happened to Di Maria if he stuck it out.

LVG wanted him to stay but he didnt want to.

He is playing against massively inferior opposition to what he faced in the PL.
Everything is simpler when you can assist Zlatan and Cavani instead of Rooney and Falcao.

In fairness, it was lunacy to replace Di Maria with Depay. This was always going to be a downgrade.
And Di Maria is an absolute game changer, so the fact that he is doing well comes as no surprise.
The guy was actually very good when he played for us. He had amongst the highest assists in the league and this was while playing very little football (being on the bench most of the time).

Stupid to sell him and you can argue all day about the weak opposition but he has proved it in La Liga, Ligue 1 and the CL and even did decent in the PL for a short period when he first came here. LVG has fecked everyone over, look at our attackers right now.......

I miss him now. 15 goals and 11 assists this season in all competitions. Do we still blame this guy for leaving?

So people said he was simply never that good to begin with... Heh. Looks like hebknew what he was doing, got fecking off this sinking ship. We are following liverpool's blueprint of planning lads.

Van Gaal is a woeful manager, definitely.

But Di Maria simply didnt want to be here. It was best for all.

Except LVG probably had a huge part to play in that

My word, that goal is an absolute stunner.

Oddly enough, I was just thinking of what could have been had LVG pampered ADM a little and given him a bit of special treatment, and put less faith in the likes of Rooney and co. being enough in attack this season.

Meh, they're playing Avengers FC in a league where there is literally no competition for them.

Quality of those goals was sensational. I'd love to have kept him and got rid of LVG.. worst type of manager to bring in if you're looking to sign Marquee type players and produce a galactic type team which is all about flair etc. You can't find more philosophically incompatible manager/player combination than those two.

Under a better manager, Di Maria would have flourished.

Yes I'm blaming the burglary on LVG.

That was a great team goal.
But watch out for Ibra's keepey uppey.
That guy is just ... words can't describe what I am trying to say, but just have a look at that video.

With regards to ADM, I have come in for a lot of flack, but I still stand by what I said about him - LVG should've kept him and told him that he was part of his plans for this year.
Some players are "delicate" and need to be treated with kid gloves. This is what we call man-management.
Someone like Keane is the opposite - a manager can swear, scream, shout at Keane and Keane won't be bothered.
ADM on the other hand has a much more quiet personality and needs constant reassurance (if he is being benched every game).

I manage staff on a daily basis and the "delicate" types can be tricky to manage because they rarely speak up and can drop the "I want to resign" bomb, without you being aware that it's coming.

Oh and 15 goals and 11 assists is more productive than most of our attackers...put together.

If the burglary at the home of an employee is becoming an issue, as a manager, I'd have got him moved to another home and had 24 hour security on the new home.
If Di Maria (and his family) see this, they'd at least be aware that the club officials are caring about them and want them to be happy in Manchester.

Exactly what I was thinking today.

I see your point but Di Maria said he didn't want to come in the first place and couple that with the burglary, there was no way he was going to stay.

I do not think that is true but, even so he is contributing to a side that is much better than we are right now.
They're 24 points clear at the top. We're still in January.

Yes I'm bitter and yes he seems to have done well, but that league - I just can't take it seriously.

I know he wanted to leave and all, but I just got the impression that we didn't exactly work too hard on trying to change his mind, no matter what was said.

Not surprised that he is doing well in this shitty league...

I used to blame him for not adjusting to the premier league but now I see that I was wrong.

the same player who was utter wank for us most of the season is now flourishing in a different club after struggling early on. I'm not surprised, and same can be happening to most of or players.

Nah, Di Maria was utter wank because he sulked like a girl. I want LvG sacked asap, but the Di Maria thing isn't on him.

sure di maria wasn't completely blameless. but what I'm saying is with the right direction and push we would've found a way to keep him happy and use him more effectively.
