I have no idea why but I'm confident we'll still bring in two more reinforncments before the window ends. Also, the defence conceding over 50 wasn't exactly all on them. Matic's inability to do his job was also a major reason for a downfall. Hiddink dropped him altogether while Conte has played Oscar & Kante together to protect him.
I still think we have a shot at stealing Koulibaly but Makismovic would be a nice alternative as well. Tbh, I could see this coming from a mile away after, Luke Shaw & John Stones should've both been Chelsea players but Mourinho screwed us over.

So, which CBs are realistically gettable for Chelsea this late in the window? It seems like most their advances towards the preferred targets in Italy by Conte has been declined, there are really not many adequate options left. I can't think of any gettable standouts in BL, La Liga or the French league.

As soon as Napoli tie up the deal for Maskimivic from Torino, Koulibaly will join.
Will be quite the coup for you guys, probably the best CB in Serie A if you discount the Juventus lineup.
He will probably be real expensive though? Especially this late in the window. Can't see Napoli accepting anything lower than 50m euros.
I don't really know anything about him. Regarding he fee, I've read that Conte has been given 100 million euros to spend and I'd rather we buy 2 great players than 5 mediocre ones.
Could've been title favourites this season if we acquired all of his targets (Nainggolan, Koulibaly). Massive shame.

We will sign atleast one defender and pretty much anyone we sign will be an improvement over Cahill. Plus Zouma will come back by next month so the defense should not stay so shaky. It wont be the best in the league but will get right up there.
They are very very lucky to of won the first two games ref blunders in both the games allowing costa to stay on the pitch

I think we need two defenders. Ivanovic, Cahill & co are capable against the sides we've faced so far. It's against the top tier talent like Aguero, De Bruyne, Mane, Coutinho, Sanchez etc that worries me.
I think anyone we bring in at this point won't be a huge upgrade over what we currently have. Napoli fecked us over badly with Koulibaly.
Wont matter against dippers and arsenal, they have problems of their own. Defense will suck against city and United but thats just 4 games.
I am happy with the fullbacks we have in Azpi, Aina, Ivanovic with DaSilva and Kane on the ready. Just need that one CB.

Who could they get? Plenty out there, all gettable if enough money is offered (which tends to happen the more desperate you get)

No, just a vast improvement on what they did last year and the first two games this season.
Yes, they were very good. Completely dominated the game against a Burnley side which just beat Liverpool. The early goal helped them obvisouly but they kept on attacking after that for the whole game. The whole team was very good but Hazard, Willian and Kante stood out as being top notch.
Hazard being back to his best means they will have a good season. Simple as.

That aside, I think they will be a contender. Conte knows what he's doing and he's a very competent manager.
Kante adds a lot of balance to their midfield, and allows Hazard to enjoy himself playing without having to chase defenders down. Makelele Mk 2
