David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

Exactly.
On pitch results are what ultimately build a reputation.
If you have a good reputation, as a manager, you will have a lot more sway with the fans and your employers.

For the record, I think Moyes is 100% correct in what ever he has said so far (and this is coming from a MUFC fan who was dead against Moyes, from the get-go - I was desperate to see him gone).

How is he right in saying that he was wrongly dismissed from United job if you reckon that he should have been sacked?

He's not supposed to be telling the press that his players are too crap to be doing anything other than barely surviving relegation at best, either, even if it's true. He's the manager and he absolves himself of any blame in his first two weeks in the job by doing that.

Moyes says something positive: Deluded
Moyes says something negative: Uninspiring
Moyes says something neutral: Dullard

I really don't understand the fascination with Moyes on here.

What's this?? A Premier League manager (who used to manage MUFC) and there's one thread about him in the football forum. I just cant fathom this level of creepy obsession either, mate. :wenger:

Come to think of it, the caf seems to have a weird obsession with Antonio Conte, Real Madrid, Sam Allardyce and Roy Keane's eyebrows, I just don't understand it all

I think the decision makers of MUFC were stoned and drunk when they made the decision.
Some have said that Fergie chose Moyes on purpose to make himself look good (ie. "aww, look at what a great job I did; now look at the new manager, he can't do what I did. I'm so great."). I don't buy this theory though. I think Fergie genuinely believed that a mid table manager, who had never won a trophy before, with an average CV, could manage one of the biggest clubs in the World.

I strongly believe almost anybody could've done a better job than Moyes here just by letting René and Mick Phelan do all the work.

Love... As in Donald Love... As a team mate... Fingers crossed!

No. One of the only players who played with any fight in the last 3 seasons despite in spite of technical ability.Furthermore, it's still early days but he is making a very strong case for himself being part of our starting XI. At the very least, he deserves his place in the squad.

Just the contstant discussion in here I find weird, threads about the aforementioned fall away after a few hours before spiking up only if something happened/was said.

There's a thread on Austrian football literally right below this one. Almost on to two pages. People talk about everything here. Plenty to discuss with Moyes new in the Sunderland job, really not that hard to work out.

Still waiting for Phelan to be called a coward for his substitution, and Mourinho too(Smalling for Rooney)

Sunderland definitely not the place to be right now - according to Sky Joe Hart, Iborra and Ryan Mason all turning down the club.

Hart choosing Torino is a massive one as a loan move to Sunderland would surely be ideal? Stay in the PL as a first choice keeper, Big Sam can keep tabs on him, easier for family and a few hours from home. Torino isn't exactly a top Italian club either. Must be the Moyes effect and, to be fair, if I was a player I would avoid him like the plague.

Double whammy of having Moyes as your manager and having to live in/near Sunderland. I wouldn't be rushing to sign for them either.

top of the league to relegation would be hard to take

FWIW Iborra agreed terms, just his club changed their minds about accepting the offer

Not sure how you can find discussions about a former Man Utd manager weird when you are on a Man Utd forum...

If you want to move to the prem in hope of becoming a better player and moving to a bigger club in the future, Sunderland are probably the least attractive out of all the clubs. when was the last time Sunderland developed a player into a top one and sold them for a relatively big amount of money?

Mr super scout appears to sticking to what he knows
, either that, or no one wants to play for him.

I think Moyes just suffers from crippling indecision, when weighing up a potential new player he seems afraid to take any risk.

Apparently this indecision extends to most aspects of his job:

He would be indecisive over everything from team selection to travelling arrangements, with even his programme notes being changed on numerous occasions due to his concern over the pitch of his message.

He's also just continually being linked to, or signing mainly ex players of his. Says a lot about what a tactical dinosaur he is.

I shudder to think that I once thought he was good enough for the United job. Damn.

In fairness, he's clearly in a relegation battle with Sunderland (announcing it wasn't the best idea but its still the truth).

Bringing in players he has already worked with and are conditioned for the EPL isn't the worst idea in the world.

When the 4 of them combined have played less Premier League Football in the last 2 seasons than most Premier League first choice players would have played in one I certainly wouldn't say it's the best idea in the world.

Moyes is a very good tactition, just not Good enough for the likes of Man United. Since he's been managing Sunderland he almost got a draw from City and a win against Soutampton who were nearly crushing them.

Said it time and again, bringing a club from bottom level to top 10 is his specialty. Once this negative aura fades Sunderland with realize that they have a very good manager.

Could well be true man. Guess I'm just overly negative/averse wrt anything related to Moyes these days.

3 are quite young and were at United so weren't going to get many opportunities but McNair and Januzaj are definitely decent prospects. Pienaar is 34 and will bring some leadership to the team.

Had missed this article. Runs contrary to the general perception that Moyes got an easy ride from the media. That certainly is a pretty damning article.

He got an easy ride and protected by journalists while he was in the job. But that article is from the day the news of his sacking broke.
