Jose: "There are those who want to be here at any cost and those who suffer with a little pain."

Do you agree with Jose criticizing players in public for not being willing/fit to play?

I love Shaw, I really hope he's able to find a steel/determination out of this and become a better player.

Feel oddly attached to him after that leg break he suffered last season.

Nice article by Barney Ronay on this. Balanced, researched and neutral.

Uh oh, you're not supposed to post things like that about Mourinho. Unless an article is evidence Jose is in 'meltdown', or having so-called 'third season syndrome' its not valid. You have to stick to the narrative, not let facts get in the way. Jose Mourinho has always expected his players to sacrifice and go above and beyond? Why let facts like that get in the way of the ABU 'Jose's self-destructing' line..?

I still have hope that Chris will get through this and become stronger. He seems an intelligent lad. As you say Luke I am not sure about.
Shaw wont, hes already ran to the press saying hes baffled. Hes playing right into joses' hands here because hes doing the opposite of what jose wants, its so stupid.

There is a different dynamic in individual sports because firstly the athlete chooses his coach and can ditch him at any point and they almost live together when they don't literally do it.
Not sure I get you? The point is yes she could have told him to feck off, but she didn't.
She didn't sulk, she pushed herself, listened to him and got her gold medal. She had a winning mentality and didn't let the harsh and very public criticism deter her.
Here, Shaw's people are moaning to the press when he didn't experience half the criticism she received from her coach and husband to boot. When you see things like that, it's hard to see what the press is getting its knickers in a twist about.

Her coach was also her husband not comparable to this situation one bit.

Ah fair enough. Cheers!
Problem is I haven't seen a video to know how he said the words. They are saying in the title The fury. Now has anyone actually heard the words to tell me if he sounded furious or it is the press turning an calm statement into a tirade?

He works for her, she isn't going to sulk because athletes pay their coaches, she knows exactly who he is and how he acts and she is fine with it, because it's her choice.

And that was between spouses which makes it Worlds away from this whole situation.
He was also her coach and spoke to her as such during a competition. He didn't molly coddle his wife. If she could get through that, why can't these footballers do the same?
For your information, coaches are brutal on the other side of the world. Just visit Jamaica to see how the track coaches kick ass there. It wouldn't matter if you're married or lovers, when it comes to competing, winning is all that matters there.

His first season here was a write off due to his injuries. Not being fat.

That's not how I remember it.
I remember LVG stating that Shaw is not fit and that he discussed this with Shaw how agreed.
He wasn't injured.

Well my Mom is from Jamaica so I have a general idea. And you are going away from the point of this thread. This thread was not because he was yelling at players on the touchline or something there would probably be very little reaction for that(when Van Gaal yelled at Rooney during a match it was applauded here) this thread is about him criticizing players through the press.

Jackie's criticism happened in a public arena, in full view of the press, and millions of people worldwide.

He had some injuries throughout the season after that being 'fat' issue.

If there was video of Mourinho yelling at Shaw during a match I would have no problems with it at all. I am against this passive aggressive PR battle he started with Shaw that helps no one.

People are outraged that more drama, leaks and shit articles coming out?

Well, what did we expect? That was exactly going to happen. We always say manager should lead by example.

At least for some of you, you will have a good 2 weeks to get entertained or bash on and talk shit about players I guess.

Ok, so let sell shaw, miki, rashford and martial then.

Theres no guarantee that JM will bring success here, but theres one thing for sure, this club will be in a totally messed when JM leave.

Time has changed, player has alot of option right now. Do you think that no other club want to take shaw, miki, rashford and martial from our hand? Im sure a lot manager want to take their chances with those player.

Some of you said that shaw, miki or martial have a weak mentality, but then you just look what they have done last season.

When i watched chelsea vs united few weeks before, i wondered why hazard, costa and all the chelsea player celebrated their goal like they have won a cup final, then i realized that they did it infront of JM, the manager who marginalized them last season.

Hazard and costa prove that with the right approach, they can reach their maximal potential.

You are not a good manager if you critized you own player publicly, a good manager tell it directly face to face with the player.

As bad as people called LVG was, at least he had the balls to call player directly that they have no future at the club than said it publicly that they have weak mentality.

If the player have weak mentality, its the manager job to encourage and support them, that why manager like SAF its hard to find

What do Martial and Rashford have to do with it exactly?

What's up with throwing names in just for the sake of it?

Also Costa and Hazard, they won the league with which manager?

They celebrated their goals perfectly normally.

Also, you know Jose didn't say something to Shaw before face to face?

All i know jose was getting very pissed of after the chelsea game, that he decided not to attend the post match interview.

Get some chewing gum Jose, and chill out, just like SAF. Less talk more chew., and action on pitch. You need more time, we all know that but the only one panicking apart from the usual panic fan types is you. Get it together man. Do not talk so much to the English press they will kill you. Keep them guessing at all times.
Lol. Best post of the day.

I feel like Jose's views on injuries would closely align with my own. So much of being fit is in the head.

Take Smalling for example. Up until last season, he spent about as much time in the treatment room as Phil Jones. Then suddenly, last season he's able to make 55 appearances as the bedrock of our defence. Now things are a little tougher under Jose, he's back to being injured. Same with Martial this season. Martial had 5 injuries in the whole of last season, he has already has 4 this season (according to physioroom).

I think some players take responsibility for their importance to the side and make sure they are available. See Ronaldo, Keane, Rio, Evra, Terry, Lampard. I refuse to believe that Lampard was some sort of genetic freak who regularly made in and around 60 appearances a season (excluding England caps).

I'm sure certain players in our squad use injuries, niggles and what not because the focus and responsibility is not there to have an extended run in the side. I'm all for Jose weeding these players out or calling for them to be professional, whether that's Shaw or whoever else.

Erm nothing new.

Jonny Evans used to have painkilling injections. I'm sure there were others under SAF.

I agree with you Loads of players take injections what's the big deal?

4 of the 6 guys on the list have had seasons where they really struggled with injuries.

I can only surmise that the Utd dressing room is a joke shop and players have had it way too easy for too long. If that's the case and i'm sure it is (you only have to look at that video from the Utd team bus at West Ham) Jose needs to fix this first before we can actually move forward and get back to where we belong. Jose making it public is fine by me.

How did Shaw and his advisors think running their mouth was a good idea?

The point is they regularly hit 50 games a season and beyond, and they were/are renowned for staying fit. Compare that to some of our players today.

Every club who consistently plays in Europe are going to have players hitting that mark. That does not mean some players can just will themselves healthy which you seem to be inferring.

If Shaw gets transferred, they goin' Sizzler.

Transfers mean signing on fees and a nice juicy 15% to the Shaw team. Staying at the same side is not good for business.
I forgot about that:( You could be right..

Hmm.. so managers want to get sacked and players want to get transferred. No wonder people say there's too much money in football.

League, CL final and a cup run is between 50-60 games a season.

The players I mentioned above regularly have 50+ appearances. The bulk of the games. I'm certain in the course of 50+ games they would have played a lot of them with injuries and niggles out of sheer responsibility and professionalism is my point.

Rio and Keane only hit 50 appearances twice. Terry 5 times. And surprisingly Evra only once. Lampard might be a genetic freak since he hit it 8 times including having one where he had over 60.

Edit three times for Keane
