Don't think I said you weren't allowed to have one?
It's highly exaggerated is what I said.

Bearing in mind the drop off in performance i dont think it is? That said sorry for my "biting" no offence intended.

Speaking in a video with Nike football as he unveils his new ‘CR7 Chapter 3’ boots, the 31-year-old, who signed a new deal with Real Madrid last week, discussed the first day he met Ferguson.

“The first game that I played against Manchester United was an unbelievable game,” he said. “It was a perfect night.

“When I listen after the game, some of my teammates say, ‘Listen, you’re going to go to Manchester, trust me!’

“Sir Alex Ferguson was there and I go to the dressing room. He introduces me to the players. For me it was a little bit fun.

“I was a little bit shy. Sir Alex Ferguson just said to me, ‘Listen, I want you now.’

“Two days after I speak with the coach, they take me to England, and I was in Manchester. Then I signed.”

Let's wait and see if it's a decline or a blip.
People said the exact same things about Messi when he was going through fitness troubles around couple of years back before coming back with a bang and looking great again. Knowing Cristiano and the fact that his fitness is not an issue whatsoever I won't say yet that he's done, he probably just needs to adjust his playing style something that he's done plenty of times in his career as it has progressed.

If he doesn't get out his current slump he could very well end the season with his goals to games ratio below a goal per game

Playing wise its insane giving him a 5 year contract with a payrise. But i guess given he is a brand they would still be making money off him at 36..

I do think he'd rather retired if it could hurt his goal/game ratio, later on. So a 5 yr contract isn't that outrageous when he's still banging 50 goals/season constantly for years with no sign of declining. With Rooney and his new contract though..

Every player has a mini slump. Even some thought that we had a chance to sign Bale last year or so, because of his 'decline' at that time. And now Bale is considered new Madrid 'poster boy'.

He's still an incredible player. I think he's in decline, but his decline is better than the majority of other top players' peaks. Well worth the new contract.

Ronaldo's last pay day.

I never ever thought he'd come back here. Madrid would ask for a feck ton, even if he's on the decline. Ronaldo at his decline as he is now is still better than 95% of players on the planet.

I think he'll struggle eventually though. He's an incredible specimen but his overall play has deteriorated consistently over the last few seasons. It's his brutal and vicious drive as a goal scorer is what keeps him going. Unfortunately, I can't see us seeing immortal numbers from him again.

I think it's probably closer to 99.99999995%.

He wants to play until he is 41 then? Wonderful, I look forward to see him playing 36-41, he is the most suited from an athletic point of view. Very old players still keep the touch but 41 is insane, isn't it? Totti is almost there though and he still plays effectively as a super-sub with the occasional starting appearance. Roma is not Madrid and the question is where would Cristiano go and play after 2021? Do Sporting CP have the dosh??

Hmm, if only there were a club who loves Ronaldo, and who regularly indulge past it superstars with huge wages and play them week in-week out...

I'm surprised Madrid agreed to his demands of a five year contract, maybe it's like Kobe Bryant who got a pay rise as a token of appreciation of what he has done for them even though it was evident he was on a decline but surely these numbers can't be true?!? Madrid are apparently paying Gareth Bale £600,000 a week :wenger: and Ronaldo is now the best paid player at the club so he must be on more than that?

Is that true??

mind you, this isn't just one off game, he's been playing like shite all season long. If that's better than "99.999999995%" of the players on the planet, then football is in a sad state of affairs. I would even say than having Wayne Rooney is less of a drawback than current Ronaldo. I think age + that injury in the Euros have completely destroyed what he had left. Probably still have some games where he will score some goals (because he doesn't do anything else other than trying to score) but overall it will be a painful season for him

Also singed with the Swoosh until 2021, with a potential lifetime contract rumoured:

Nike just announced that it has renewed the contract with Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo has been a Nike player since 2003 and the new contract was rumored to be valid until 2021, with a possible lifetime contract also on the horizon.

“I have a great relationship with this brand, I have great friends here in the company,” says Ronaldo. “We work as a family too,” he adds. “This is my brand.”
NIKE EXTENDS CRISTIANO RONALDO CONTRACT UNTIL 2021
Cristiano Ronaldo has nothing but positives to say about his Nike partnership, watch below.

Doesn't look as sharp as he was before. It was his focus and mobility that made him such an immense player, now he has nothing.
