Depressing as it may be, Farage is probably man of the year. Building up a national movement based on an issue previously confined to rightwing idealogues and types like the Major from Fawlty Towers to trigger the biggest disruptive event in modern British history, is an impressive achievement even if, like me, you wish he had stuck to commodity trading in the City.
I won it in 2006. I try not to mention it too often.Who won last years person of the year. Without searching google.

Not sure really. He was a notable face but I don't think he did much more than ride the wave. He wasn't even part of the official leave campaign because they were too embarrassed by him.
I'm not really sure he had a massive bearing on the events of this year and arguably he actually was a hindrance to the Leave campaign.

The joys of giving a political rival a job he is not remotely suited for, so he can tarnish his image.
She's damaging herself just as much, here, is she?Nah it sums up how completely nuts number 10 is under May. Well and truly jumped the shark when you are briefing that the views of the foreign secretary are not the views of the government with regards to foreign policy![]()

That's a pretty good summary. In an ideal* world this should be as big a scandal as Labour's uncertain position on Trident.
*in a more ideal world everyone should have Boris' view on this![]()
I swear the places by elections are held are just made up.Looks like it's close between the Lib Dems and UKIP for second in the Sleaford by election, LD swing will be interesting to see given it's a Leave area.
Pretty good result for the Tories all told, pretty bad for UKIP, meh for Lib Dems. But very low turnout.
Not to mention the lack of an effective opposition. The Labour Party are absolutely fecked for the next election.Without reading too much into a single by-election, it seems that as shit and incompetent as the current government is, it doesn't matter to Leave voters as long as they get their Brexit.

Maybe Brexit won't be a big issue at the next election. Not to mention the lack of an effective opposition. The Labour Party are absolutely fecked for the next election.
It doesn't really matter either way. THe only question is if the decline is terminal.Maybe Brexit won't be a big issue at the next election.
Maybe?
Possibly... though if a deal is not negotiated in the very tight time frame perhaps the article 50 negotiations are extended by all parties agreement and then actually the ratification of the final deal falls slap bang around the next election making the next election essentially a defecto second referendum... personally I'm not sure I could take the tantrums and lies from both sides if this happened... and I think it's a decent possibility given how long most trade deals seem to takeMaybe Brexit won't be a big issue at the next election.

Corbyn would never do it, but I'd love to see someone question May over her claim to be guided by her Christian faith whilst attempting to push the children of illegal immigrants to the bottom of the list for school places.
Dear Prime Minister’s Office,
Following a recent interview where the Prime Minister said that her faith in God would help guide our path out of Europe, could you please tell me what advice and/or guidance, official or otherwise, the Prime Minister has received, either from God directly or indirectly through her faith in God?
Yours faithfully,
James McWilliam
Civil servants and other holders of public office should swear an oath to British values, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid has said.
Writing in the Sunday Times, Mr Javid said people could not play a "positive role" in public life unless they accepted basic values.
These included democracy, equality and freedom of speech, he said.
