David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

Has Gary Neville come to the rescue yet?

It will be Sunday Supplement squad, Custis et al. They were gushing over him just yesterday, the fecking weirdos. I mean, the man is a fecking fraud.

incompetent managers tend to gang up together.

Our own Sparky would kick his whitewalker's butt straight to the other side of the wall.

I hate Moyes, I said it whilst he was United he came across a proper nasty character. His attitude towards reporters was horrid at times and I always maintained it wasn't in fitting with our club.

I know Sir Alex wasn't always the nicest of guys but you always felt he was a nice guy generally, I don't get that feeling with Moyes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sunderland use this as an excuse to sack him.

I don't want to cause another Devilish saga here. However I assure you that SAF was an absolute gentleman in terms of treating women.

After managing for so long he should know better than to talk to someone like that whether it was meant in jest or not.

He has given Sunderland an excuse to sack him, and given how they have fared this season, it would come as no surprise if they took it.

The way I read about it, they made it sound as if it was a serious threat. After watching the video it just seemed as a bit of a laugh, though the women part could be quite offensive.

It was clearly a joke, the lady in question laughed, she never reported it and accepted his apology.

Not his biggest fan but this is bullshit to be honest.

I wish I could be this bad at my job and still make millions out of it.

Genuinely curious to see where Moyes ends up 5 years from now.

Im a celebrity or strictly come dancing would be my bet. Because i seriously doubt it will be football management.

what he said was incredibly naive, but i am not up with my political correctness. Is it sexist because he said "even though you're a women". If he didn't say that would it have been treated the same if he said it to a man?

Not at all Moyes said he would slap her even though she's a woman just as he would a man. If anything he's just treating her equally...haha

I don't see how it's sexist, it's just a bit weird. The sort of thing someone at work says and you just pretend to laugh at so they'll go away. Which is exactly what the female reporter did.

Obviously meant in good humour. Moyes is clearly a terrible manager and a cretin, but of all the things he should be crucified for this isn't it.

A nice and easy way to sack him without having to pay out his contract I would imagine.

Yep definitely this is a tap in for Sunderland. But if they don't use this then they really are being run by a bunch of clowns, in which case Moyes must fit right in.

He joked about hitting a woman ffs. Less an issue of sexism or political correctness and more an issue of gross fecking stupidity. Oh Moyesy.

Yeah I agree. Although maybe not the best joke, it clearly wasn't serious.

It might be overblown but for me, all it proves is the immense naivety of the man. Think about some of his comments to the press as United manager, and its clear he has very poor media skills and doesn't think before he speaks.

My take is that it's sexist because he would never dare say the same to a man. Can you imagine threatening a guy with a slap and he gets punched in the face?

Pretty much what I was trying to get at earlier

Probably not sexist and not serious. But just a very very odd remark.

Could anyone imagine saying that to a women in a working environment? They would probably laugh it off but think what a fecking weirdo

would he have threatened to slap a male reporter in jest?

Quite possibly yeah. I've said all sorts of things like that to other guys. The whole "you wouldn't have said that to so and so" argument that's often trotted out is a huge assumption people make.

Sounds to me like he was being passive aggressive under the sly. I've always maintained he's not the 'decent' bloke his press buddies were making him out to be. Never ever came across as such. He's a nasty piece of work imo.

I actually think that would be grounds for termination. "Even though you're a women" is sexist. The threat of physical violence is also grounds for termination.
Add to that he's in a position of power.
He's lucky she took it as a joke.
He's lucky he wasn't called in and told to clear out his desk.

Hmmmm, is there more to it than just this one misfiring joke?

This sort of changes my view on this from innocent joke to something a bit more serious.

There was nothing nice about him at United. His constant belittling of players in media was awful as it was a title winning squad who just won no. 20.
