Fully expect arsenal to collect minimum 21 points and reach about 75. We have to beat them if we harbor any hope of reaching the top, we all know they peak at this very moment in the season.
75 points is a tall order, they're also still in the FA cup. They have Utd, Spurs, Palace, Everton. Your expecting them to win 7 of their 9 games. They will deserve it if they manage that.
Well its arsenal, where did yesterdays performance come since they've looked pathetic for so long? This is what they're good at, flailing about in the early months, then dominating their way to the top 4.
We looked good but West Ham were pretty poor, gave us allot of time on the ball.
If arsenal make the top 4 and city and united miss out ( although we have europa league) it will be a disaster for english teams in the ucl because spurs liverpool and arsenal will be useless in europe.
Us and City didn't cover ourselves in glory the last time we were there.
I think we need to use the league games now to keep players fresh, sharp and give opportunities for players to get into the Europa team as the Europa is our best chance of champions league football. That's not to say it will be easy, it certainly wont be, but it's something that is in our hands and is something I think United are very much capable of doing.

Anyone that sits back, we are unable to break down and then even if we do break them down, we have no one outside of Zlatan that you can rely on to score goals regularly.

Nither did Arsenal Liverpool and spurs, Still manchester clubs are better off in europe than north london clubs or liverpool.

I'm not giving up on top 4 just yet. Time and time again, those in front of us have shown that they are unable to capitalize on points dropped by us. Anyway, we're playing mostly away from home now, which seems to suit us better, and against quite a few teams who won't be parking the bus, which also will suit us better.
I genuinely hope your right. I however think we have too many hard games and it's us that needs to take the opportunities to claw back points when the other teams drop them, Liverpool for instance can afford to drop points because they are 6 ahead. (I know we have 2 games in hand, but thats against city and southampton, far from easy).
I just hope Jose doesn't go with what he sees as his best 11 in every game and then we burn ourselves out in both the league and europa and end up with nothing. I think we need to concentrate our efforts more on one than the other and in my view the best chance for us in the Europa league.
Mou's record against the top 4 this season to date is piss poor so top 4 is gone in my mind, but yeah it's still technically achievable. If United do advanced to the Europa Semi the two games will get sandwiched right around the away trips to Arsenal and Tottenham.
Only way we make top 4 is by getting results at WHL, Emirates and Etihad. Tough tough ask. Even if it was Chelsea who had these 3 fixtures list, I would have listed Spurs as favourite to overtake them. Jose's record this season against top 6 is very poor but in general he has won big away games many times in his career. Once you add the extra fixtures of EL in the mix, I seriously think we have no shot at top 4 in the league. If we had drawn 3 less games at home, those 6 points could have given us some buffer to lose points later on but it was not to be.
Jose had yet to find out his best 11 and tactics when we played city and chelsea, while we pretty much dominated vs arsenal and tottenham . 2 games against liverpool were pretty even steven.

United have a very hard run in as well. As do Liverpool if you think about how they struggle against the bottom half.
The top 6 teams with the easiest run in funnily enough appear to be Spurs and Chelsea.

Because contrary to popular opinion where we are mediocre and our top 4 competitors are so awesome, the reality is all the clubs are tired and dropping points. So we are basically in it until we are mathematically eliminated. Something the resident gloom and doom bedwetters should take into account.
You missed the point. I was pointing out that even witha HUGE if materialising we would only be chasing Chelsea.
Arsenal just fecking irritate me. You know they'll sneak top four and have the exact same season next year going out early in the CL before suffering a mini-crisis at the start of 2018 before, don't you know it, going on a run and getting top four.

Arsenal look like winning the most games now. Awful 2pts dropped by Liverpool vs. Bournemouth. Utd out of it - need too many very good results to have a chance & can't hardly beat anybody at all at home anyway.

They could end up getting the likes of Seville,Dortmund,Napoli or even PSG(if they finish third in France) in a qualifier.

Or you win the EL and Leicester the CL. I'm not sure if we can do it though...
If that scenario happens, does 3rd place in the league mean you have to play a qualifier? Or is it still automatic qualification?

Coutinho a doubt for the weekend against Stoke too. Without both of them in the 2nd half against Bournemouth they drew 2-2 so chance they could falter
I consider this to be unlikely although not impossible.
If they finish 4th, Liverpool would need to play the last round of qualifications (play-offs) which is seeded - 20 teams = 2 groups of 10 teams.
Although Pool's UEFA coefficient isn't great (34th), most of the teams above them will either directly qualify (e.g. Bayern, Chelsea) or not at all (e.g. Schalke, Leverkusen).
In other words:
To play against any of the team you suggested, there must be at least 10 teams with a higher UEFA coefficient than Pool. That's not impossible but unlikely.
Last but not least: In a clash over two games, everything is possible. Pool knocked us out last season, they can do it again against any of the teams you mentioned.

The last few years the 4th qualifying round has two separate parts. The Champions section and non Champions section.
Would need to check but as I remember it, the Champions and the other section are relevant in the first rounds qualifications (1st to 3rd round to be exact) only and fuse in the play offs (qualification round 4). I'll check.

I had Gladbach in mind which I remembered having been the last team to grab a spot in the seeded group '16/17 but as their coefficient was that bad, I thought they were 10th out of 20, not 5th out of 10.
I stand by my last point from above though: Liverpool can beat any team over two games.

I guess we can remove Spurs from this now and give them a thread of their own. Not quite in the title race, safely in top 4. Looks like its 4 teams playing for 2 spots now.
Anyone thought they would win the league last season? I meant even into February where they're very catchable. Nothing is impossible in football. Of course this is just unlikely.
