Fabinho

Yeah I get that. But this thread is chiefly about Fabinho and if you are to beleive some of the article then the rest should be beleived too.

Di Marzio doesn't say we have bid or will bid for Fabinho. He says Fabinho is one of three midfield targets. Given that you have an Italian hack writing about a Brazilian player based in France possibly transfering to an English club, it should all be taken with an almighty pinch of salt.

Being top of a transfer list tends to a positive sign we are going to sign them. If we don't go all in for our top target then who do we try to sign?

He's the same Italian hack who called a certain Portuguese manager signing for a certain English club way back in Feb 16'. As well as calling the Pogba transfer, he'll clearly got a very reliable source at the club.

Monaco is a special case, there is a lot of football people leaving or spending time in the city particularly agents and some of the big italian agents. So it's not surprising if Di Marzio is clued up about the club.

But he could have also cut out possession.and saved a few equalizers from being scored. You cant deal in hypotheticals and not consider that.

agree and also less intercepted passes from us considering his passing stats. He also disrupts the midfield and attack for the oppo which not only neutralises any build up at that point but opens an opportunity for either a counter or progression/transition into attack.

Agreed captain. I'll set the coordinates for the Gamma Quadrant

We could do with a player of Gilberto Silva's quality, which he clearly is.

Christ. Even acquire me beat him to those exclusives.

He's got plenty wrong in the past and this all sounds rather vague but there have been numerous reports from a variety of hacks about our interest in these players, so we'll wait and see...

In Italy maybe. I think Darmian is a good player and he is showing his worth now. The Caf turned on him quick because patience is for communists or something.

Definitely improved and has looked relatively solid. But feck me, he's been horrendous for most of his tenure.

For which I'm sure you dismissed because, you know, he's just a hack.

You're calling into question the most credible source around, mate. What sources should we be taking interest in if not someone with s superb track record?

This is the type of player I want to see us linked to. I will admit I haven't seen a lot of him but he's getting good reviews and its a position we need strengthening.

Are you all just misreading posts, or something? I said I'd be extremely happy in signing Nainggolan, and that signing somebody of Naiggolan's ability level would, in my opinion, be better than signing a lesser player who gives the 'perfect holding'.
No you are being very misleading in your replies, pretty sure you said something alone the lines of "Since when has central midfield been an issue this season?"
I'd argue all season as it has Pogba and Herrera having to do a lot of donkey work and limit their creativity

And what has "the best source available" actually said?

We bid €85m for Mbappe, the bid was the turned down, Monaco want €140m and the player wants Real Madrid (so nothing happening there). We made an initial enquiry months ago for Nainggolan but have not followed up and the player doesn't want to leave anyway (so nothing happening there). Fabinho and Kroos are alternatives (which doesn't even make sense as they are different types of midfielders).

Not exactly exciting stuff.

Also, Di Marzio is nothing like "the best source available" for non-Italian-based players.

I must have missed the bit where Fabinho said he wants a different club. Could you quote for me please?

Mbappe is the player we bid for. Fabinho is apparently a midfield target along with Kroos.

you didn't answer the question posed by @ivaldo . Where is your source or statement from anyone that anyone wants a different club?

Genuine question I want to confirm if he or anyone representatives had said this.

Fabinho in CM with the two crockinhos as CB and LB respectively.

We never sign the players I really want us to so this (Fabinho) isn't happening :(

I hope we don't go for Mbappe. I'd rather we get Griezmann. I also want Rash, Martial, Miki, Mata, etc. to get a fair chance.
If we get a second attacker besides Griezmann, we should be going for someone muscular, like Lukaku, to replace Zlatan.

Fabinho would be perfect though.

Acquire me > Di Marzio. Christ! Only on redcafe!

Nothing against acquire me by the way.

Di Marzio has a decent track record on Italian-based players and Raiola's clients. Why are you so sure that he's particularly connected at United? A Mendes client like Fabinho, I'd probably wait for Duncan Castles. At any rate, not much sense in getting excited about anyone reporting interest, I imagine we'll have genuine interest in 20+ players for the summer (numerous options for each desired position).

This season few players have established themselves more than Kylian Mbappe' and the Monaco striker is certain to be a big name in the summer transfer market headlines. Manchester United has made a concrete attempt to sign him by offering €85 million which Monaco turned down as they're looking for €120/140 million, this shows the French club's desire to hold on to him for at least another season. Mbappe' on the other hand is intrigued by possibility of joining Real Madrid, but the Spanish club has yet to take concrete action.

Mourinho wants to also improve the Red Devils midfield. A few months ago an inquiry was made for Radha Nainggolan but there have been no additional steps forward, in addition the Belgian international prefers to stay at Roma. As alternatives Manchester United is also interested in Fabinho and Toni Kross.

I see. The confusing part is that you are both using Di Marzio to make a claim then using that same Di Marzio to make a claim against him.

You do seem confused. Anyone getting giddy about the prospects of signing Mbappe based on this Di Marzio article should also take note of the fact that in the very same article Di Marzio says our bid for the player was unsuccessful and that the player is interested in joining a different club.

Nothing about that is contradictory.

Test monaco and just straight up offer €120 million for mbappe and Fabinho.

The figures they want (if true) are never going to happen in a million years.

Peak Messi is priceless, 300m wouldn't even bring Barcelona to the table.

You're right....this is absolutely crazy idk how I never read about what his transfer fee would be until now.

Peak messi is priceless if he stays with the club for an extended period of time...
I'm curious as to how many years do you think peak messi would have to play for a team to make his price payoff in their eyes ? surely if he chose to stay for only a season or two , then 300mil+ would be better used on the whole squad
