I'm coming back to win the title - Zlatan

Definitely the kinda stuff United need to be hearing after comments like 'Huddersfield had more desire and passion than us' by the fans captain Ander Herrera.

I didn't hear that interview, but isn't that the right thing to say after a game like that? Essentially, we were not good enough and that's not good enough? I don't think coming out and saying he was a lion who could walk on water and was here to win the league would be appropriate.

Too late for that this season, I'm afraid.

Will be nice to have him back in the squad though. He's such a personality.
Hilarious.

Yep. You're right. Absolutely no team in the history of English football has won the premier league after not being top after 9 games of the season.

Jesus wept.

Just love his attitude and personality, bringing him back is one of the best decisions that Jose has made.He could play a big part next year....

To be blunt; if you think the league is over already you’re a moron.

His attitude is amazing. Sounds so much more sincere in his interviews than Ashley Young for example.

He has fergie mentality and the mentality accustomed into United for decades under fergie.

In a interview with Thierry Henry, Zlatan says that the injury prolonged his career just so he can prove a injury won't decide how he retires from top football. Reading this I can't help to think how important a personality like his is in a squad and how much the younger players can learn from him when it comes to the mental aspect of the game.

This.

My thoughts exactly.

You give up on the title in October. WTF! LVG and Moyes really did a number of some of you guys.
In life or in sport, you should never give up until it becomes impossible. You always have a chance to turn things around while you are fighting, but once you give up, you have no chance. Take this as a life lesson.

For the record I think it will be difficult, but if we can get Ibra, Pogba, Fellaini, Rojo - all back, playing well and fighting hard, we are definitely in with a good chance to win the title, but we have to get lucky with injuries.
When you add Jose to the mix, anything is possible.
I haven't given up on anything. I said I *fear* it's too late. As currently City look too strong to overcome. I'm not saying anything is settled, far from it. But at this point it's looking *unlikely* for us.

I wonder if he could do a job as the #10 behind Lukaku, he does love dropping deep.

Tbf. it won't take much to do better than our current options there.

His mentality is one of the reasons why I like the guy so much. Most Swedish athletes almost apologizes for being good at what they do, something you can't really blame Zlatan of doing.. :D He may be OTT for some but I feel as if most of them don't get that half the things he say are tongue in cheek. 10-15 years ago he was very selfish and arrogant imo but definitely not so today, and somehow people only seem to hear what they want to hear when he speaks. He can praise everyone and their mother, talk about teamwork for 25min etc and then joke around with Pogba about how he's not a lion and afterwards people will only remember him trying to 'belittle' Pogba.
Anyway... I'm looking forward to seeing him in the red shirt again!

He can't win the league on his own. But if we are up there when he is back, could easily earn us valuable points. He knows only one way to talk, expecting him to be a sheep and be pragmatic is foolish even if you don't agree with him.

Shut the league and award City the title. At least our overpaid players can have an extended holiday till next August.

Mkhitaryan has been so terrible lately, I'd prefer Zlatan at No10 tomorrow, regardless of his lack of match fitness. I fear Lukaku's going to be totally stranded again.

Great. Lots of clear chances missed and exuberant shots tried (instead of just putting the ball in the net).

Exactly. He's one of those rare strikers who doesn't score every single chance he gets. Ho hum.

What I love about Zlatan is that he's never come across as being bigger than the club. I believe he wouldn't have a problem playing second fiddle to Lukaku when he's back but he will certainly be pushing him all the way, which can only be a good thing. Would love to see him in the #10 role. Be great when he is back. That will piss the Berties off even more.

I think he'd do alright there against teams we can bulldoze at home, but when we need to counter more and, as a result, need our forwards to hold up the ball he'd be less than convincing there. For his size, strength and technical ability, he's isn't that good at shielding the ball.

I think having him and Lukaku up front together would leave our midfield pretty exposed due to the fact that neither work particularly hard defensively. If we play them both with a midfield 2 of Pogba and Matic, I think it could be quite costly as Pogba's not the best defensively either. Unless we have Zlatan up front and move Lukaku to more of a right forward like he sometimes played at Everton last year I believe.

Where do you come up with that number? I see a clear cut missed chance quantity of 18 here: https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/big_chance_missed
Granted it's 5 more than Aguero, yet people wet themselves over him.

Ibra scored 17. And missed 18. Pretty much 50%.

Yes apologies my stats were off.

He had 115 shots and scored 17 in the PL sorry that’s 14.7%. Not sure anyone missed more than 18 clear cut chances?
He had 40 % on target.

Feck me, some people here don't know the difference about being realist and being a hopeless sack of negativity.

Right, so ... all his shots were clear cut chances according to you? Jesus.

No, he did have the highest amount of clear cut chances missed, that's true. But he still scored plenty of goals and will be a great back up to have.

As I said I got my stats wrong. That said we now look a much better team (when everyone is fit) without him. He wasn’t the saviour last season, imo quite the contrary and he certainly won’t be this season.

Wouldn’t it be similar to when Jose throws fellaini up the field, except ibra is more of an attacking threat; he is a better passer, better shooter, etc ... so essentially an all around better player for that position

Wouldn't be surprised to see this as our main set up once he returns, with Mhiki being pushed to the right.
