Supports Liverpool, Not Accrington Stanley
You beat Porto. Well done.
You never beat Sevilla. Unlucky.
You beat Porto. Well done.
Nice draw.
Roma 6-4 on aggregate
Bayern 5-3 on aggregate
Spurs don't win anything as usual?![]()
Barcelona had a total of -1 counter attacks in the second leg against Roma. I can't see that happening with Liverpool. If they press Liverpool so high they will suffer in the counter attack for sure.
Somehow, Liverpool get greater credit for beating lesser opponents than Roma.
Liverpool had an easier group, an easier r16 tie, an easier r8 tie than Roma.
It's like those talking about Liverpool being the '2nd best team in the PL' despite having spent 1 single week in 2nd place. It flies against every bit of evidence, and goes for a gut feeling.
Roma isn't beating Pool. They don't have enough in attack and don't have defenders that can handle the pace of the Pool attack. They aren't exactly a park the bus side as people are hoping. Salah will burn them, they sold the fullback that could've coped with him.
Why not hope for Roma abd eliminate Liverpool from the picture altogether?
FWIW, Roma are the type of team who could be kryptonite to Klopp. Liverpool usually raise their game against bigger teams.
In the last two finals they’ve got to they’ve had the benefit of not having to worry about competing for the league. It helps.Mourinho was right when he spoke of football heritage. He might have been wrong when he implied we lacked it but he was right when pointing to its influence. When it comes to the CL, Real Madrid, AC Milan and I hate myself for writing this, Liverpool do have something about them. When they have that momentum going for them and quality obviously, they just seem to have that something extra ahead of everyone else. The team might not be experienced but the club definitely is and it can make a big difference in those edgy moments where games are on the edge which is very often in those knockout games. Obviously that doesn't mean anything if you are significantly inferior quality wise but it looks like this year has no stand out teams. The scousers might actually do it.
I agree. But that's kind of part of the point. The culture at some clubs like the ones I mentioned is just more oriented to CL success. Real Madrid won the league, CL double once since the '50s. Milan dominated European football last decade whilst in the league, they had one title. There just comes a time in the season for those clubs where no matter how well they're doing domestically, they gather enough momentum helped by being fresher and more focused obviously, to go on a brilliant CL run.In the last two finals they’ve got to they’ve had the benefit of not having to worry about competing for the league. It helps.
After that draw you just know the stars are aligned, scouse cnuts will actually do it.
Brace yourselves.
Because you hate them and dread the idea. If you were a Lazio fan you'd probably feel like Roma's name is on the trophy.
Spot on. The fact is, no matter how shite Barca were, it is no small matter stopping Messi, Suarez and co. Roma's defense is very well organized to cope with strong attacks and they will be doubly prepared for Salah.
Also, expect them to go route one to Dzeko. Klopp hates long balls and he still hasn't been successful in countering that properly. VVD will need to be wary.
Do not forget that de Francesco is a very good coach, and while Klopp is no slouch and is experienced obviously, he is often clueless with respect to a plan B.
I expect Roma, in good form, to draw 1-1 or lose 1-0 at Anfield and beat Liverpool 2-1 or 2-0 at the Olimpico. This won't be a goalfest.
One of Liverpool or Roma in the final. Can somebody ask our genius manager how did they get to the final despite their little heritage in this competition in the past 7 years.
Heritage!!!
What a hypocrite.
Well he had to tell something after bowing out of the competition so pathetically. He was not going to say, my starting line-up was screwed. Or my players are all dumb a** who cant string couple of passes togetherOne of Liverpool or Roma in the final. Can somebody ask our genius manager how did they get to the final despite their little heritage in this competition in the past 7 years.
Heritage!!!
What a hypocrite.
Fair point, what is Seville in comparison to Manchester united, we have both, better team and bigger history.Jose probably meant what matters is history of the clubs in European football. If anything it proved his point considering the likes of city, psg in ucl and rb leipzig in uel got eliminated despite having very good teams.
What's Liverpool and Roma's Eritage?Jose probably meant what matters is history of the clubs in European football. If anything it proved his point considering the likes of city, psg in ucl and rb leipzig in uel got eliminated despite having very good teams.
Football heritage in the way Mourinho was talking would mean Liverpool are even worse than us in recent years and have no right to expect to be where they are this season. He was talking recent years, rather than the club's history. To be honest, thought it was his way of making excuses then and still is now.Mourinho was right when he spoke of football heritage. He might have been wrong when he implied we lacked it but he was right when pointing to its influence. When it comes to the CL, Real Madrid, AC Milan and I hate myself for writing this, Liverpool do have something about them. Could be he is looking at history. Lfc have lost only one of 8 semis in the last 60 yrsOne of Liverpool or Roma in the final. Can somebody ask our genius manager how did they get to the final despite their little heritage in this competition in the past 7 years.
Heritage!!!
What a hypocrite.
and united has the highest number of an English club playing in a european semifinal "13 times".Could be he is looking at history. Lfc have lost only one of 8 semis in the last 60 yrs
Why is it apocalyptic? It would be far more dreadful for Real Madrid to win it for the third time in succession. I'd prefer Roma or Bayern to win it too but would definitely back Liverpool over Real. Besides, I believe we should show more support for an English team in an international competition rather than oppose then just because they are our local rivals. The apocalyptic scenario of Liverpool winning the Champions League is one step closer. FFS.
There is no easy team in UCL, Liverpool and Man UTD got the easiest groups, UTD scored more points than Liverpool in a group which was little bit more difficult than ours but Man UTD lost to Sevilla(Supposedly easy draw) which gave Bayern run for their money. Point being their is no easy team in champions league maybe on paper but on field every team give their all. How is City and Roma(which knocked barca by scoring three while conceding none in their home ground) easy draws?
Roma is a team which likes to play football, they play 4-3-3 with inverted forwards and fullbacks joining in the attacks(sounds like Liverpool going forward). They ain't defensive team as people make them to be. They haven't won away tie in CL this season while not conceding goal in CL. Your analysis of their personnel is very true but only time will tell how the tie pans out because Roma also have weaknesses which Liverpool can exploit like, their CBs don't have the pace, Roma's midfield is mature but aged, so I am not sure if they will be able to handle the relentless pressing of Liverpool.
Tie is truly 50/50 at this point but things can change between now at the first leg then between first and second leg. Also it will depend on how the managers setup their teams.
You never beat Sevilla. Unlucky.
With 7 or 8 losses. United should have won one or two more under SAFand united has the highest number of an English club playing in a european semifinal "13 times".
