The Championship 2018/19 - Play-off final

Derby up against Hull. It could be a tricky game for them, considering Hull's form. Nottingham winning as well, as Preston, Birmingham and Swansea. Blackburn-Bristol City 0-0, Rotherham-Wigan 1-1 and Sheffield Wednesday-Reading 0-0. Middlesbrough-Leeds 1-1 FT.

Derby and Bristol win, so the battle for the playoffs continues. Nottingham and Birmingham don't give up though. Bolton look fecked at the bottom. Rotherham-Wigan 1-1, Sheffield Wednesday-Reading 0-0 and Swansea-Millwall 1-0. Stoke-WBA now.
1-0 WBA FT. Good riddance Stoke cnuts. Enjoy another year in the Championship.

Always had a soft spot for Ipswich after living near there as a teenager and used to watch them with my late uncle around 84/85. It was just a few years after their very good side and saw some cracking games at Portman road. Shame to see them where they are now, plenty of endeavour today but little quality in last 3rd.

Bolton and Bristol win. Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday and WBA draw, instead. Some light at the end of tunnel for Bolton.

Norwich lose. Leeds take advantage of it and are back in the first place. Sheffield United win as well. Derby 1-1. Brentford- Aston Villa 1-0, Wigan-Stoke 0-0 and Reading-Blackburn 2-1.

Brentford 1 - 0 Villa - doesn't tell the story, Villa were battered tonight, top draw stuff at times from Brentford.

Norwich thrash Bolton so they go back to the top. Big win for Sheffield United as well. Ipswich-Stoke 1-1, Aston Villa-WBA 0-2 and Preston-Nottingham 0-0.

I feel for our resident Villa fans. What an absolute terrible season they're having. The only reason I care is because my old man is a Villa fan +I want them promoted. They look worse than under Bruce regardless of injuries.

Pundits had Stoke as favourites for getting promoted. They are currently 17th
The Championship is an incredibly difficult league to play in with the competition for top six being fierce. Stoke are winless in their last five and play Notts F & Villa next so that could easily stretch that to seven. For each year spent in the Championship the degree of difficulty increases. I'm afraid Stoke could be in a lot of trouble.

Goal galore today. 34! Norwich come back and win. Leeds don't give up though, as they beat Bolton 2-1. Boro win as well, but it is probably too late to finish in the first 2 places. Birmingham-Blackburn 2-2, Brentford-Hull 5-1, Millwall-Preston 1-3, Reading-Rotherham 1-1, Sheffield Wednesday-Swansea 3-1, Stoke-Aston Villa 1-1 and Wigan-Ipswich 1-1. Big match between WBA and Sheffield United now.
1-0 Sheffield United FT. They are 2nd now.

He's been playing really well for them. Still only 31.

Mental that he’s only 31! Yeah watching some Championship highlights and the fans are full of praise for him. I completely missed the transfer though.

We seem to be settling to become the new Leeds in this division if they go up.

In two minds tbh. Look at our squad and it would get ripped apart in premier league if we fluked a promotion. We will have mass clearout in summer regardless so would rather stay down and get a young and exciting 11 to properly compete next year.

The two minds is this is easily the weakest division we've been in the three years. First season Newcastle and Brighton both got mid 90s, Newcastle actually got 100 points. Last season Wolves were one win from making 100 points and then you had Fulham with their amazing form second half of the season.

There is none of that quality this season. Leeds are good but doubt they'll even reach 90 points. Norwich attack but defensively they're nothing special, Sheffield United impress me more actually and would rather see them go up as they havent played in prem for a while.

We have missed an opportunity this year but the squad was very unbalanced at the start and really apart from a few weeks under Dean Smith we've never looked capable of even making the play offs this season.

Whoever their manager is Derby always bottle this part of the season like clockwork.

Derby bottling this stage of the season is like clockwork.

Championship version of Arsenal/Spurs.

They really are, I've been calling them the Arsenal of the Championship for years. I remember going to the March home game against Birmingham in 14/15 where they were 2-0 up despite doing nothing all game.

They conceded a penalty in injury time and then were panicking and conceded an equaliser and then there was even time for Birmingham to nearly win it in the final seconds. A win would've taken them 2 points clear of Bournemouth at the top of the Championship.

They ended up completely collapsing and losing 3-0 at home to midtable Reading on the final day and finished outside the play-offs.

The wheels have been slowly coming off for Leeds for a while now. They'll probably end up finish 3rd or 4th. Norwich and Sheffield look too good at the moment.

Ah think that was the season when McClaren was tapped up by Newcastle around February and as you say their form declined from that point. Worked out so well Derby reappointed him a year later.

Think the next season Paul Clement got them top of championship at xmas, their form dipped and he was sacked and they failed in the play offs.

There were 4 games today: Birmingham, Hull, Q.P.R. and Sheffield Wednesday win. Bad defeat for Leeds.
