I said it from the first game - it's not Pochettino doing anything. PSG has individual brilliance - there's no cohesion in that team, at least not something that remotely resembles Klopp's Liverpool or Pep's City. He's not the right man to take United further.

This has aged well. Said again and again - PSG looks without any cohesion and togetherness in their play on the pitch. They didn't look good in the first leg, rather had a lot of individuals spark on the same night. Pochettino is not the right man to hire for us.
They did look good in the first leg, thanks to the high press+Mbappé and our own fault. Yesterday we *made them* look good(except Mbappé, who is simply the best player on earth) right until we didn't
He's a brilliant manager, world class even. People saying otherwise don't know what they're talking about. He just needs time at PSG. Enough time for us to sign Ten Hag instead of him.
Watching them last year it was pretty evident that the key weakness was that they didn't have enough graft with Neymar and Mbappe offering nothing defensively. I suspected during the summer that adding Messi to that would weaken them and not make them stronger.
People are quick to attack Pochettino, but I suspect he'd prefer the team Tuchel had over what he's got now.

Wouldn't even go that far. We're neck and neck with them when we have played them and according to UEFA club coefficients have been for almost 10 years now. The only difference being we actually won something almost worth winning in that time (Europa League), and we have to play our weekly games in a much harder league.
Think he set them well for both games against RM, but maybe was slow to react to everything that was happening in the 2nd half. Think that was main criticism of Poch at Spurs as well, like vs Juventus in 2018 if I remember correctly.
Poch just looked stunned at 3-1, not his fault that team completely stopped playing but that was hard to watch.
Real Madrid on the other side really are a team full of winners. Benzema with 3 goals, Modrić with that fantastic run through PSG players and great pass to the left, which later resulted into goal. They are a team filled with some old players but world class players as well.

That is correct. However I don't see any manager around that can get the best out of every world class players at PSG and guide them to CL glory, aside from Pep because he is an exceptional manager, has an excellent record when he has money at his disposal and has a deep connection with Messi. To anyone other than Pep, Messi only adds more pressure to the manager while at his current state he is not exactly single handedly carrying PSG. I'm not saying that we should go for Poch. If anything, his time at PSG spells caution. If he can't handle those egos at PSG, chances are he can't do it at United unless if we have a massive clear out. But in the terms of quality, he is a quality manager, just like Tuchel.
Spurs never got close to their CL run, which can always happen in any cup competition. Nor did they ever get close to their 2nd place position im the league. Those are false dawns.
They were never close to improving or equalling those standards...and that's an indictment on the manager just as much as it is on the players. They were one hit wonders yet didn't even win anything.
Spurs recruitment has been more about Levy and the club rather than the manager. That is clear as day. You really think having a spine of Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dembele, Walker/Tripper, Erikson, Son, Kane, etc was all down to Pochettino?

It would be hilarious that he won’t win the league again in that case. Two years managing in a farmers league with PSG and no league title. Bloody hell. How would you even explain that and make a case for such a manager or make a case for yourself in the next job ?

To be fair, he’s probably busy packing his bags in Paris right now.
A lot of fans seem to have set their hearts on the Ajax boss and i like the idea that's been put forward of transitioning to a more progressive style of football. Based on the admittedly very few games i've seen Ajax play and the ideas he seems to promote, he'd be my first choice.
However, I still wouldn't completely write off Poch. If we do get him i'll support him and hope for the best and I hope our fan base gets behind him, even though it seems to be getting more and more negative about him.
The state of the club has been very toxic since....well, going back to Jose really, and i'd argue that it wouldn't take long for people to start calling for Poch's head if he went on a bad run/slow start. Get the feeling Poch would be on thin ice from the moment he came here, which is a bit sad.

its funny we all sort of thought regardless of what happens this season with PSG, the squad is top heavy and really unbalanced and it would be impossible to make that front three work, he was never going to win CL etc, that once that has come to pass its resulted in the club dropping all Poch coverage.

Yet here we are. When we defended like imbeciles and practically kicked the ball into our own net then, yes, I expressed a view that some things are out of a manager’s control. Just like that first goal, which led to the collapse, was completely out of Pochettino’s control. Just like it was out of Ferguson’s control that time the referee gave Nani a red card in the Champions League quarter final. We went on to lose a tie we didn’t look like losing.
I don’t care who we sign on as manager (as long as it isn’t that tit, Rodgers), so I have no loyalty to Pochettino here. I think he was a bit unlucky last night.

To rate Pochettino, you first need to rate PSG. Did Tuchel have them playing wonderful football and win the CL? No, he was sacked. Could Pep or Klopp do it? Perhaps better, most likely yes, but probably it would end in a big crash of cultures. Managing PSG means you have to motivate Messi, Neymar and to a lesser degree Mbappe up from 1/10 to 6/10 against teams like Brest and Angers. The chances of Messi knowing any player from these teams is like zero to none. Then you play in the CL on the back of winning and not caring against unknown players in a league you win by default unless something special happens. Tuchel started the rot last season, Pochettino wasn’t able to fix it, Tuchel went to Chelsea and won the CL.
Point is, it doesn’t matter if you’re as great as Sir Alex or as terrible as Solskjær, managing PSG is a different sport and it’s difficult to compare it to other teams and leagues. In my opinion, the best manager for PSG isn’t one of the best in the world - perhaps they are better suited with a former, younger player, who knows if it’s possible for them to take the final step.
