I remember when Varane stepped across Calum Wilson last season and everyone went apoplectic over the decision to not award a penalty.
Just google Varane Calum Wilson and you'll see headlines such as "
Callum Wilson is the most blatant penalty I've seen", "It was 100% a penalty" (Dermot Egghead), "
pundits fume over penalty decision in Man United vs Newcastle", etc etc. Yet it was by no means much worse than Gabriel being run past by Højlund and putting his arm across and around him to pull him down, which was described as "strong defending", "Gabriel simply holding his ground", or "You can see Højlund grabbing Gabriel's arm there"
