Manchester City vs. Manchester United

I'm a big Park fan, but i'd rather have Giggs back on the left for this one. I think our left side this season lacks consistancy, when Ronaldo is not there its almost dead. Thoughts?

Park, when hes played has shown great work rate but seems alot less effective than were used to.
Giggs should be a sub and mabey his time on the wing is over. id rather have anderson there over anyone, or tevez.

seriously mate, i would love to see anderson on the left, is there any chance of this happening though?!! And if not why not, fergie could give it at least 1 go?!

He did against Pompey and Liverpool didn't he?

Nani's starting on the left wing ahead of Anderson, no question in my mind about that. Indeed i'd probably have Patrice higher inthe pecking order too.

VDS

We should win this. We usually drop points in this fixture cause we aren't up for it and they are. This time I think we have a real point to prove. Judging by the players and ferie's comments anyway.

Think we'll play the following XI (not neccessarily the one I would play):

van der Sar
O'Shea - Rio - Vidic - Evra
Fletcher - Carrick - Giggs
Ronaldo - Rooney - Park

I say we bleed Rafael at RB, why have O'Shea or Neville in there, especially Oshea when people will be like feck O'Shea even when HE ISNT a RB. This could be a big test for Rafael but lets see more of what he has got, I say, surely the game wont come back to RB, so if United play well it shouldnt matter, but this could be the game where Rafael steps up solidly as Brown's backup for the time being

I love rafael but i cant see saf throwing him in against city, think hes a bit more cautious in his old age.

Thats the thing I would have Brown in anyday, but he isnt fit, so it begs the question who is the better option Oshea who isnt a RB, Neville who is borderline past it although I would love to see him put in a top performance on Sun., or Rafael a player who looks up to. I find it amusing how people were complaining about how he was playing out of position v Arsenal, ummmmm we were losing 2-0 at the time, lets give the lad a chance from teh start to play his normal position from the start and prepared to be awed or pissed

Because he's not a winger. And Park's on good form.

Seems a bit pointless to play a player out of position when there's better options available.

Eh?

6 goals in 9 league starts and one substitute appearance last season compared to 8 in 9 league starts and one substitute appearance this season.

He has played in 5 of our last 6 games and scored in just 1 of them. The Stoke game.

That's my point, that it isn't as regular and there is no1 stepping up to the plate to grab us some goals.

Last season it seemed that he would score more regularly just a less amount each time, if that makes sense.

I don't know about that.

He had a similar run last season, only scored 1 in his first 5 league matches last season. And near the end of last season, he didn't score in any of the four matches he played between the 19th of April and 3rd of May.

It's just a slight rough patch, I think you're looking into it a bit much.

I think you're misunderstanding me somewhat.

I don't have a problem with his goalscoring form, everyone has rough patches and thats fine, my problem is that when he does seem to have a slight barren spell in front of goal (like at the minute) there doesn't seem to be anyone willing/capable of smashing a few in and helping out. And its showing at the minute with consecutive goalless draws and struggling to find the back of the net against Arsenal and Celtic.

The same sort of thing happened last season though, we do rely on him somewhat for our goals.

In the two spells I mentioned, we only scored 5 in 5 and 3 in 4 last season when Ronaldo wasn't scoring much. This season in the spell you're talking about, we've scored 7 in 5. Oh and, FWIW, Ronaldo has scored twice in this 5 game dry spell this season.

I do get your point though.

I know it did, thats my point. Other people need to step up when Ronnie isnt banging them in game after game.

True but take the Stoke game out of that and its 2 goals in 4 matches, that suddenly doesnt look as good.

I dont know what that means! :D

We seemed to cope alright with our reliance on Ronaldo last season, so I think we'll cope alright with it this season as well.

It definitely doesn't, but I definitely expect us to score at least once tomorrow, and I think we'll score three goals actually. Then everything will be back to normal.

FWIW = For what it's worth.

I just realized he only had three barren spells (defined as two or more consecutive games without scoring) last season. And the worst was 3+1 games. That's sick.

So do i, i have faith in our squad. I just meant we weren't coping very well with it at the moment.

Innit.
