Welbeck

Didn't see much of the ball, we were so casual in the first half. He had one great chance where he beat the offside trap, i thought he would let it rip on the bounce, shame that.

Spurs fielded their strongest side possible + this was their CL final. Its natural that a young player would fail to make an impact against that.

Young player in inconsistency shocker.

Exactly what I was thinking.

But even at that, he threatened in behind quite a few times and linked up with the other attackers a few times.

Which is exactly what he needs to do to add that other dimension to our team.

I was happy with him in all honesty.

has major technical issues, things like controling the football seem to be a struggle for him which is suprising for a united youngster

Knee-jerk.

His control's always been quite good, if a bit odd in how he does it.

Bollocks.

I'm guessing you haven't watched our reserves? If so, probably best not to be so critical of a 17 year old kid in a cup final at wembley. Just a thought like.

In today's game he looked like a kid playing against men. He does that sometimes. Being a kid and all. Playing against men. Fantastic prospect mind you.

Welbeck is a very good player and he is only going to get better.

And yes, today wasn't his best game but they very fact he was seen as good enough to start, spoke volumes

Looked threatening early on, just couldnt quite get himself set. I have high hopes. May need a season on loan soonish, just to get regular games and the development that comes with it.

To be honest, did better than Tevez :nervous:

Made some good runs and his pace took him away a few times but as I've mentioned before, he also has some bad touches as well as some brilliant ones.

Would say he had the worst game of the young players today, but he was 3 years younger than the others so thats nothing to be ashamed of.

The experience will have done him the world of good.

Not too bothered by this performance, he was playing against King, a defender barring injuries would always be in the England squad and 1st backup to either Rio or Terry.

Then of course there's the expected inconsistency, people forget he's 18, he will need time to fill out.

I know he's not the popular youngster right now, but Welbeck came on and looked a threat.

Should have scored the winner himself the poor bugger.

He did everything right to be fair to him it was a good save

he did nothing wrong, great take, and hit it towards the corner.

I'll thought it was over, to be honest, and we weren't ging to get a better chance. (Well technically, we didn't get a better chance, we scored from a half chance)

He could have chipped the keeper. :smirk:

No Friedel came out big and large; if Welbeck chipped it would have gone straight into his hands.

I rate Welbeck extremely high. As highly as I rate Macheda.

Friedel;s hands were at his knees, it would have needed to be exquisite but it could have been done. Good shot though, but better save. I seriously thought he was gonna score the way that opened up

Skysports.com understands Bolton are keen on signing Man Utd striker Danny Welbeck on loan. #mufc #bwfc. http://bit.ly/ofip7W

Just seen it in SSN, would be a good move if true, Sturridge done not too badly there. Would be good to get Macheda out to a similar team for the season too.

Properly kicks off his break-through season in the team by making the goal sheet tonight.

He has really struggled tonight. We should have started Berba and then brought this lad on in the 2nd half.

I was surprised he started to be honest given that he was pretty average against WBA. It's good to see him getting another opportunity though. Hopefully he can produce a better 2nd half performance.
