Who do you want United to sign?

Krasic can play left, i dont see why its this either or scenario with some people, Valencia was even playing left wing today when Giggs came on, my point is both Valencia and Krasic can operate in the same team and interchnage during the match from either flank....its called having a fluid front line with adaptable players.

Hard to play when you've broken your leg isn't it?
Guess you missed his first season at Spurs too.

A more understandable suggestion than Krasic to be honest. Why sign another predominantly right-sided player when Valencia is playing very well?

It's the left wing that needs work. And Modric's creativity and tendency to drift inside would in theory work perfectly with Evra, allowing Evra to overlap and do what he does best.

Point you are indeed missing once again, already answered that not going to do so again.

No, my point quite clearly being when comparing Modrics performances to Kranjaers this season Kranjear has been the better player from what ive seen....and is keeping Modric out of the side since he returned quite rightly.

Modric before his injury was Spurs best player, orchestrating everything.

Granted Kranjcar has been brilliant in the time Modric has been injured but when both are fully fit and playing Modric > Kranjcar.

Maybe someone like Ozil or Hamsik who we have actually been linked with and is particularly interesting fergie. Could be a perfect replacement for Scholes.

Considering Tottenham are our feeder i wouldn't be surprised if we do making a signing from them though but the only one who we could do with is probably Modric, so am not sure Harry will let him go.

Modric would be a fantastic signing.

Vuc, I respect you.

Modric isn't really like todays Scholes, because one attacks, and the other sits due his physical condition/age, but certainly similar to a Scholes a few years ago. And what we definitely need right now, and have needed for some time. Scholes also played on the left for England at times. What you have tried to explain about he can play in the middle for Croatia because a slower pace makes use of his intelligent passing just doesn't make sense. Heres a quote from Redknapp:

"I think he could play for anyone, he's that good. He's a fantastic footballer, amazing player, great brain," "Not only is he a great footballer, he's strong, he works for the team, takes knocks and gets on with it." "I played him off the front, I've played him wide left and he plays central in a 4-4-2. Against Stoke he was fantastic in the middle of the park, against a physical team, and he was the best player on the pitch that night.

I'm sure a few people would disagree with you Brwned when you say Huddlestone is 'rubbish'. It will be interesting when Lennon returns, to see where Redknapp plays Modric and Kranjcar. He has said they can play in the same side.

And I do still think Modric is better than Fabregas. He simply doesn't get the media spotlight because he plays for Spurs and not one of the top 4.

Thought it was an excellent post until that last paragraph. I'm a big fan of Modric but there's no way he's better than Fabregas.

Yeah both are fit.. what don't you get about Modric coming back from a broken leg? Yes he's "fit" to play but doesn't mean he'll be back to how he was straight away, does it.

Wait, you're actually serious!?

Not at the moment it isnt....both are fit and Kranjcars brilliant form is keeping Modric out of the side.

Against West Ham, Modric started and Kranjcar made the bench. Modric scored too. Whatever they're broth Croats to me, but Modric is the better talent no doubt in my mind.

What dont you get about Kranjcars form regardless of Modrics fitness deserving his place in the team?

I belive Slaben Bilic the coach of Croatia has said Kranjcar is the most talented player hes ever worked with, Harry Redknapp came out and said that in a press conferance recently, considering he works with both Modric and Kranjcar at international level hes not a bad judge.

Wasnt that in the cup to get some fitness for Modric back? in the league Kranjcar has kept his place on merit.

Nah, it was actually the league game against west ham and didn't even look as if he has been sidelined for 3 months. It was actually a great comeback game for him.

Are you sure?

Because i remember when England were about to play them, he was going on about how big a blow Modric loss will be for that game. Not too sure where you got that from..

Yep positive.....Redknapp said it in a press conferance this week, he said Bilic spoke to him about Kranjcar while he was at portsmouth and told him he was the most talented player in the Croatian team and the best hed worked with.

It was all over SSN.

Bilic once called Modric the best player in Europe and Corluka the best right back in the world so..

Probably porkies because Kranjcar and 'Arry were both at Pompey and probably just trying to raise his value. Oh and Bilic said in a interview when they were about to play England that Modric is their most important player.

Both of them could have lied, i don't know really

But Bilic dosnt think so....the total opposite in fact.

Its not unheard of coaches talking up a player to get their transfer value up. Bilic also praised Modric before as others have mentioned. I am just going on what I have seen from both. Modric is the main man for Croatia and he was also the main man for Tottenham before his injury.

Most 'important' player dosnt mean most gifted though does it? which is what Bilic said to Redknapp about Kranjcar....Rooneys always been our most important player dosnt mean he was as gifted as Ronaldo...two different things.

Anyway this is all semantics really.

I signed Modric on Fifa for United recently, I'll let you know how he goes.

Im not arguing that, i know Modric is the main man for Croatia that dosnt mean hes considered the most talented which is the point i was making.

an experienced keeper (£8m)(maybes Tim Howard or Schwarzer), ozil (£15m), hamsik(£25m), dzeko(£20m))- not necessarily in that order, before the end of January, and Diouf(priceless).

Sell: Nani(£10m), Berbatov(as he is too good to play second fiddle to Dzeko) (£15m), Gibson (£5m), Tosic (£3m)

Loan: Macheda, Welbeck, Foster, Fabio

----------Keeper---------
---------Rio--Vidic-------
Rafael--------------Evra
-----Fletcher--Hamsik----
Valencia----Ozil<-->Rooney
-----------Dzeko--------

Bench: Keeper,Evans, Brown, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs, Diouf

Backup: Neville,O'Shea, De laet, Scholes, Obertan, Hargreaves (could well leap into first team if he recovers fully), Owen.

Then the kids

CRACKING

dear god, I used to love doing this shit in the old manutd.com forum, it is stupid really.

"Luka is a star even without this tournament, I keep saying to him every day that he is the best player in Europe" - Bilic on Modric

So let me get this straight just so im clear, when Bilic says Kranjcar is the most talented player hes worked with (as Redknapp said he did this week) its rubbish etc etc yet when he says the above hes spot on? is that the crux of what your saying, just so were clear on this...

My point is that it cancels it out. Redknapp also said Taarabt was the most talented player in the team and then sent him out on loan.

Who do I want United to sign?

In January, probably nobody.

In the summer, I'd like us to look at the Ribery deal. I don't care what the transfer experts say about him to Real being a done deal - I want to see us try for him, show we're still in the market for the best players. Failing Ribery I guess Silva and Krasic are the two names in contention. I have my doubts about both but both nevertheless think they'd be good signings.

Also, a top quality centre forward. Unfortunately there is a long list of players I don't want and I'm struggling to think of any realistic options that I would want.

edit: and maybe a keeper.
