Who do you want United to sign?

Except Huddlestone's not actually rubbish.

Modric is simply more effective from a wide position than he'd be centrally in Redknapp's 4-4-2.

If we signed him I'd have no doubt he'd play on the left for us as well. Perhaps he would play centrally when we play in this 4-5-1 system that Fergie increasingly seems to use.

I wasn't serious about Huddlestone.

If we played 4-4-2 he'd be on the left, 'tis all I'm saying and is all I was ever saying. I'd happily have him here.

I did, and its obvious that Harry wants to continue with his two 2 DM's in the centre - its all speculation, because we haven't seen him play the centre to see how he would fare.

Yes your right its a different game, but my point was in seeing him play CM for Croatia IMO he could do it in the PL, with a solid DM next to him. Seeing as we haven't seen it yet, I won't comment on him playing CM no more - rather just hang on to my hypotheses.

I wouldn't say he is nothing like him. Technically brilliant footballer, with the ability to control games and make killer passes. Sounds like Scholes to me. In what ways is Scholes different in your opinion?

The Fabregas comment was a little spastic.

Fine, he's a bit like him.

Scholes is a centre mid, Modric is an attacking midfielder, a withdrawn winger, whatever you want to call it. Modric is an Iniesta and Scholes is a Xavi, basically. One dictates the game and one influences it with technical excellence, drifting about the pitch, dribbling...all things Scholes doesn't really do.

Krasic can play left, i dont see why its this either or scenario with some people, Valencia was even playing left wing today when Giggs came on, my point is both Valencia and Krasic can operate in the same team and interchnage during the match from either flank....its called having a fluid front line with adaptable players.

I don't think you've seen enough of him to know whether he could play there consistently.

How would you know how much of him i may or may not have seen? pure speculation on your part.....ive seen plenty of Krasic over the past 2 years for club and country.

Cheap hotels, weekend rendevous.....

Because there've only been about 15 games that are even available for you to see of him in the past two years, and even then I doubt you watched them all. Then there's the fact out of those games he's started on the left maybe twice, if even?

And Ekeke's been banging on about him for about two years now and he doesn't even know if he can play left wing, so if he doesn't that's saying something.

Basically it's because it's pretty much physically not possible for you to know, since he's not played there very often.

Whats that thing called again..... Oh yeah the internet.

Modric would be too expansive, this club is not interested to spend

The truth is that we have won many trophies in these years and the club doesn't want to improve the team spending money, they are satisfied and the have a full belly. A simply lack of ambition, and the current squad too, lack of motivation and ambition.

Never heard of it.

Tell me more...does it show games of CSKA moscow now that no-one's interested in, because that'd be news to me. Myp2p doesn't have everything. Some nights it struggles to get United in a Carling cup for christ's sake!

Dunno, but it did have Huracan games when I was following Pastore last year.

right now: only if we can get someone like hamsik or ozil in.

in summer, same. i think hamsik is the dogs bollocks. would much rather have him or ozil than modric IMO. plus i don't want to deal with the yid cnuts anymore. levy is a right bastard.

i would like to see:

-1 of neuer, adler, or lloris...depending on who fergie/coton rate the highest.

-marek hamsik (i think he should be one of our top targets if not THE top target)..this lad is the bollocks.

-a striker in the 15-25 million range. (ideally i'd want pato, but i'd rather spread 60-70 million over a top class gk, hamsik, and a striker).

-a cb like kjaer to cover or step in for vida/crocked rio (i have no confidence that rio can stay fit for more than 50% of a season any longer...and lads like brown/evans have shown to be injury prone).

-and if that is all done, then someone like silva or ozil...but i have doubts that either can consistently play a left mid/wing role week in week out since they both seem more comfortable the more they drift in.

do not want ribery.

We need Hargreaves, Ferdinand, Vidic, O'Shea, Van der Sar all fit and a doctor of Gregory House's intelligence... dead leg ... pfff!

I'd hope he'd be mature enough not to be bothered by another player's nationality.

I'd hope so but there is a lot of bad blood between Serbia and Croatia.

Every Serbian I know hates everything to do with Croatia. Every Croatian I know hates everything to do with Serbia.

He'd probably diagnose them all with 3 separate terrible diseases one after the other and give them extremely risky treatments and surgeries, before realising he'd hallucinated and it was a dead leg after all.

I'd like to sign Lloris, he's already one of the best keepers in the world and still has plenty of years to dominate with us. Since we urgently need a left winger, I'd suggest David Silva. Seems the best option from a scarce supply. Also since we need a good centre mid I think Van Der Vaart would do a good job for us.

Problem is, Silva is injured and as a few others have pointed out (and as I have noticed the few times I've seen him) he performs well when he has time on the ball. He may not be suited to the PL but he is a professional and could adapt so I'm probably talking bollocks. Anyway, the main thing is that he is currently injured so it would be an Aquilani type of signing.

EDIT: Just read about his injury again, and it was only for the remainder of 2009. He is back as of January 8 and scored a goal after 12 min coming on as a sub.

This means that I can start hoping for him again.

Silva/Gourcuff/Hamsik, someone who can play Fletcher's role when he's out(none of the other midfielders can), David Villa/Pato/other legitimate scoring threat, and a good keeper(Adler/Neuer/Lloris).

Is that too much to ask?

Christmas is 349 days away, and I'm sure SAF doesn't care about your birthday

In a perfect world I would sign:

Kacar from Hertha Berlin a good Central Midfielder who can attack and drop back if needed

Chamakh from Bordeaux a powerful striker who has been in great form for Bordeaux and is available for cheap due to his contract expiring in June

or Adriano from Flamengo who would also be a inexpensive option. A wonderful striker given a new lease of life back in Brazil and has a wealth of experience in Europes big competition.

David Silva, left winger from Valencia. Left wing is a problem we don't have any other good options there besides Giggs.

Total for 3 players? maybe 30-40 million, well worth the investment.

^ It is possible that Silva himself could cost in the region of £30 million

He's also not really a left winger tbf. But I'm sure that's been discussed...

A wing-forward type striker, such as Benzema or Ribery (though I would never take either at more than about £30m) - on the assumption that Nani is on his way out, and frankly even if he isnt.
or a winger and a more traditional striker - Silva, Modric, Gourcuff would be fantastic for the wings, and up front then I would personally love to see Huntelaar at the club.

A long term replacement for VDS (Akinfeev, Neuer, Adler, Lloris the mostly likely candidates)

A world class midfielder (slightly more difficult this one, no immediate candidates jump out so probably best to wait until after the WC with this one)

Gourcuff, though he signed a 4 year contract at the start of the year - competition would be fierce for his signature.

Looks like we need another defender too. A right back who can defend would also be good.

Modric would be a fantastic signing.

Vuc, I respect you.

Modric isn't really like todays Scholes, because one attacks, and the other sits due his physical condition/age, but certainly similar to a Scholes a few years ago. And what we definitely need right now, and have needed for some time. Scholes also played on the left for England at times. What you have tried to explain about he can play in the middle for Croatia because a slower pace makes use of his intelligent passing just doesn't make sense. Heres a quote from Redknapp:

"I think he could play for anyone, he's that good. He's a fantastic footballer, amazing player, great brain," "Not only is he a great footballer, he's strong, he works for the team, takes knocks and gets on with it." "I played him off the front, I've played him wide left and he plays central in a 4-4-2. Against Stoke he was fantastic in the middle of the park, against a physical team, and he was the best player on the pitch that night.

I'm sure a few people would disagree with you Brwned when you say Huddlestone is 'rubbish'. It will be interesting when Lennon returns, to see where Redknapp plays Modric and Kranjcar. He has said they can play in the same side.

And I do still think Modric is better than Fabregas. He simply doesn't get the media spotlight because he plays for Spurs and not one of the top 4.
Modric is good it's true. But he ain't better than Fab. No way.
