He was helping the defence one moment the next he was up front, that side of his game was fine, it was just his "hollywood" balls that were lacking, but that is also the fault of how we set ourselves up at the front.A disappointing performance from him, but he doesn't really seem to suit that position, in fact the only time it was relatively succesful was in the Chelsea game.
Diouf? you question? or Owen up front, he's linked up well with him in the past.Rooney, Berba and Anderson very similar, we need a Drogba/Torres figure to get the best out of all three.
Diouf has to make it, or we are going to make all three suffer.
The habit of Youth and not playing enough. His passes didn't come off today but at least he had the vision to make these passes and the courage to make a defence splitting pass. Other days they can come off. He's still quite inconsistent. Didn't think any of our midfielders were good today.
Left back.
He doesn't work in this system, I keep saying he needs Owen or Diouf up front, a player who will hang off the shoulder of the last defender so he can play those "Hollywood" balls to. His defensive duties today were fine, the only time he could have even been placed as at fault was not getting to Vincent Kompany quick enough. But then considering our defenders had decided to leave Tevez, et all unmarked I can't blame him.
You are so close to hitting the nail on the head, he needs players who think on his wave length, make the runs he is expecting. He needs more than one other attacking footballer around him, he needs a central midfield partner who passes the ball to him and then makes a forward run and vice versa. When Anderson plays an easy ball he then proceeds to make a forward run. Fletcher will play it back (tonight usually to Evans) and stand there hoping his defensive team mate will make something happen! Jesus who is the midfielder!

The amusing thing is, Anderson over the past two seasons has been far worse than Nani, but for some reason is well loved whereas Nani (who has far more goals and assists to his name) gets slated for bad performances.
Anderson can do no wrong in some fan's eyes, when he's clearly not good enough for Manchester United at the moment. He was never the same player at Porto after he broke his leg, and I think we bought him on the basis of his pre-injury form.
Anderson can do lots wrong, but he has never been far worse than Nani. Jeez CD, why is everyone looking for scapegoats when they all forget we haven't had our first choice backline for god knows how long.
They're both attacking midfielders, yet Nani has been waaaay more productive. Anderson has ONE goal to his name, and a handful of assists. Also, Nani gets slated for giving the ball away too often, when I swear that's all Anderson ever does with his ridiculous Hollywood balls over the top.

He can't play any of these so called "hollywood balls",his passing simply isn't good enough

What a odd thing to say, he can pass he just doesnt do it on a consistant enough level to match the expectations of some United fans. Against Burnley all his passes were sticking and we looked much more threatening once he got on the pitch. But sadly when he has a game like today all the good is washed away and only the bad remains
I said it before and i'll say it again if Anderson adds consistancy to his game i can see him develop into a fine midfield powerhouse

Far from odd,if you were looking for a player to play an aforementioned "hollywood ball" then he would be closer the back of the queue than the front. I never said he couldnt pass, I simply stated he's not good enough to play a "hollywood" pass on a consistent basis.

Definitely. Might have to maintain great patience though...
I reckon another season or two and he'll start to add that sort of consistancy, honestly if he was 3-4 years older and putting in performances like today then i would be a little worried but CMF is perhaps one of the harder positions to fill in a top level team and most players only manage to take that mantle when they are in their mid-20's.
Give the lad time im sure hes going to be a brilliant player. I'll put it this way i would rather take a chance with Anderson than sell him and see him become a good/great player somewhere else... Id rather him become good then start talking about his dream![]()

Yep. I keep saying that. You look at how players like Fletcher have developed. Or Scholes, who turned from a good midfielder into a midfield genius over the years. Also Lampard, who I didn't think much of when Chelsea paid 10m for him. Even the likes of Xavi have developed massively since their early twenties. Not everyone can be a Fabregas.
Sadly the development of Rooney, Ronaldo, Messi and Fabregas have almost tainted it for other players coming through. So much is expected from young players now its untrue

Fletcher always looked good in the middle.
No he didn't.
Anderson > Carrick now and the future.
Are you a WUM or just totally clueless? The world may never know.![]()
Yes, he did. Maybe your expectations were a bit much and you'd already decided you didnt like him based on his performances on the right. But in the middle he always looked a good young player.

The world agrees with him.

Good lord.
He was woeful today, and hasn't really played well all season bar a game or 2. I agree with what the Count said to an extent. He hasn't really shown any more promise than Nani (I wouldn't say he has shown less necessarily) yet he's seen in a completely opposite viewpoint by fans and critics, the only reason I can see for this is that he's just a far more smiley, likable chap. If anything, Nani has been better than him this season.
No I had no expectations on him. As far as I was concerned he was a squad layer til he proved otherwise. He was that great in Central midfield that we had to experiment with Smith there for a few yew years.
