No he's not, he's played well in a fair few 2 man midfields, even showing up more experienced opposition
Carrick is the seasoned midfielder, and this season is not performing to his previous excellent standard. Anderson is still learning as they say, so he has greater chance of improvement.
Neither has Carrick. True he's had the odd game. Anderson has also had the odd game.
He's not showed any sign of returning to his old form. (I wish he would, but whilst he isn't lets try another option)
Carrick has hit his peak, he has nowhere left to go. Anderson is only just begining to develop and iis showing far more skill and potential then Carrick ever did at the same age.
Unless Carrick steps up to his ways of previous years or starts to drastically improve then yes he should step aside.
