A.C. Milan v Manchester United

Anyone else think Park will start on the right to help Rafael will Ronaldinho?

I'll be watching to see if Fletch gets pseudo-man-marking duties on Ronaldinho. He excels at taking 'skill' players out of their element. It'd also ease the psychological burden on Rafael (just contain until Fletch arrives)

Then again, Park could start on the right.

He'd have to, otherwise it'll have to be Fletcher.

My bet is Fletcher covering Rafa, I agree. WOuld be pretty similar like against Arse.

Besides Ronnie is not that fast anymore.. Would prefer Brown myself, as he has more experience but I think Rafael can cope...

Pato will be playing on the left, I'd imagine some interchange. With the three upfront we'll probably see Rio Ferdinand moving to the right and Evans moving to the left when the fullbacks push up, so Fletch would probably be required to fill the gap in between.

Does leave the defence very open against Huntellaar those tactics though, probably see Carrick or Scholes sitting deeper than usual on this one. :nervous:

Not really, Pato has largely been restricted to the right and Ronaldinho the left, cutting in but never really swapping flanks.

Well I'd imagine what I said about United's defensive setup to apply anyway. Ronaldiniho has enough tricks to cause Rafael problems without being at full pelt.

Well it's a risk, Milan's taking a risk with Beckham instead of Gattuso, United's doing likewise with Rafael instead of Brown. Hopefully Rafael won't conceed a freekick which Beckham scores. :nervous:

the boy's turned a corner.

this imo is what United is about: if you're good enough, you play, even in these games.

young lads take notice of these things.

Eurosport claims these benches:

Milan: Abbiati, Offside, Seedorf, Favalli, Abate, Gattuso, Flamoney
Manchester United: Kuszczak, Owen, Neville, Brown, Berbatov, Valencia, Gibson

Not official because Eurosport sometimes get it wrong though.

I doubt they put Flamini and Inzaghi in that way.

expect Rio or Evans to be man marking him(probably Evans). I don't like the idea of Scholes sitting deep and coveriing for the defence with his textbook tackling..

I don't believe there'll be a zonal marking in the box having in mind Milan are playing with a target man in Ruud mould. Carrick and Fletcher would double the flanks IMO.

Didn't expect Milan's lineup to be anything like that personally. Could be a big risk - a slow Beckham and unfit Bonera shadowing the left may not make it easy for Milan. Antonini is decent but that's really it - and he's not going to get a ton of protection from Ronaldinho. Ambrosini hasn't looked good all season either, so Nani and Rafael will be looking to challenge Antonini.

I still maintain that if we isolate Ronaldinho and Pato that's most of the job done - Milan will have a lot of the ball without doing anything with it.

Could we see an orthodox 4-4-2 with Beckham right and Pato upfront?
It's basically 4-2-3-1 with Beckham, Ronaldinho and Pato just behind Huntelaar as far as I know. Haven't seen too many games of Milan this season though.

Their full-backs look like being their weak point, let's hope Nani and Park are up for it.

ronaldinho-huntelarr-pato, got to be said that sounds scary as feck.

Agree. Antonini has very little experience as well. They would be exposed to counters, Neither Ambrosini nor Pirlo can match Nani or Rooney when it comes to pace.

Pirlo would be the main culprit. If he and Ronnie get blocked, Pato and Huntelaar would be isolated up front with little to no usable balls whatsoever.

I predict that if Pato has a good game, there will be a thread saying we should sign him

Well if Evans does manmark Huntellaar, if Pato does play wide, Rio has to zonal mark on both sides and centrally. He's one of the best readers of the game but I do see Becks and Pato doubling up on the left against Evra which will mean Rafael exposed completely against Ronaldinho.

Park never really covers fullbacks ... and neither Carrick or Fletch prefer to go on the left. It'd probably see Evans shift across, otherwise Scholes will have to drop back. Scholes vs. Beckham.

Screw it enough of this how are we going to deal with them. How are they going to deal with us dominating every inch of the pitch.

Nailed on.

I've already bumped one of the Huntelaar threads as you know they will all be bumped if he scores so might as well get it over with.

my official stream has started and the quality is top notch.

2-1 Milan (Pato,Huntelaar for Milan, OG for us)

But we'll turn it around in the second leg.

Time for rocky balboa songs...it worked against Arsenal.
