MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

It has feck ALL to do with Rooney whether or not he agrees with SAF and his recruitment policy, what the feck does a little scouse chav know? compared to the greatest manager in English football?

I'm just saying I hope the financial health isn't so dire that the only way is down and no top player would want to be anywhere near us in the future. It's a stretch I know, but that's how fears are.

I do believe this is all just him being an absolutely disrespectful little prick. But I'm just hoping it has more to do with things wrong in his head rather than the club.

Livvie do you think this could possibly be because of the clubs financial state? I can't get over this thought. I hope it isn't a result of our debt, whether it be on his belief that we're the club is well on the decline, or us needing the funds. That's a fear I have. The perceived reasons seems tame in comparison.

It could well be - and if he's that shallow, I don't care whether he goes or stays.

I agree, he'll get over it. And soon. But the point is Rooney made him like that... and I've never seen him like that before. I don't think anyone has. Our manager is a legend of the sort that only comes around once in a generation and he's been totally betrayed by a player he trusted. Unforgivable.

Admittedly it's not quite the same standard of player, but he has gone through something like that with Gordon Strachan... Twice! It's always painful when it happens and this one is even more so, but he has seen it happen before and felt the shock.

I don't get all this "Nobody is bigger than the club" bollocks.

It's not like he's made any ridiculous demands or ultimatums. We don't even know why he has decided to leave yet ffs.

Do we actually know Mourinho thinks that or is that just based on Ballague's speculation?

All I've heard is that Mourinho feels Rooney will stay at United which I thought was interesting...

Just seen Mourniho's post match interview tonight. He said at least three times that he thinks Rooney will stay at United.

Was quite a classy interview with Mourinho actually - said Rooney should stay for life as he belongs at United and belongs to the fans...

Mourinho on Sky: "I wish that Rooney stays at Man Utd forever..." but says if Man Utd want to sell, they should call him

some posters are probably meaning that Rooney is as good as gone now. Everything he has done to the club and SAF has shown that he does not give a shite about United or SAF.

Our own manager has said he wants to leave. What more clarity do you want?

It's not bollocks. I means that the club will carry on and players who don't want to play for it and don't feel honored by wearing it's colors can well and truly feck off. It's a sentiment most of us believe in.

Why do people keep thinking this? Real Madrid and Barca don't want him, they already are fully stocked with just as much or even more talented players in the positions that Rooney can play. His lack of true technical ability with the ball at his feet would be found out in Spain. His style of play is not fit for La Liga.

and at this point there are MANY individuals I would rather have playing for my team

Mourinho said tonight he'd love Rooney at Real and was sure every club would be in for him.

I'd back Fergie regardless of the "if".

I've said it loads of times, and I actually do mean, that I'd back Fergie unconditionally, he's earnt it.

Obviously you can fly into hypotheticals like "What if Fergie deliberately attempts to get us relegated?" but within the realms of realism, Fergie's earnt my complete and utter trust.

Unlike countless other Judas buggers who've begun to plague the club, SAF has always been there (he's been at the club longer than I've been alive) and he's never shown a sign of anything else being even remotely bigger than the club.

same

Mourinho on Sky: "I wish that Rooney stays at Man Utd forever..." but says if Man Utd want to sell, they should call him

Would be great if he goes to Real. Better than him at any club in England. Actually Barca would be better. He wouldn't get games.

Yeah just what I posted.

Jose really badly wants Rooney to stay at United.

I've always been opposed to Jose coming here but if Rooney does indeed go we'll need a manager after Fergie who's capable of steadying the ship and building another great team.

Jose will do just fine.

Mourinho on Sky: "I wish that Rooney stays at Man Utd forever..." but says if Man Utd want to sell, they should call him

He couldn't even say that with a straight face. He burst out laughing. He went on to say "Rooney belongs to United, the fans and Old Trafford. He will stay there."
I don't know if he hasn't had the time to check the news today or he knows something we don't!

If he said he wants away, don't play him... Simple as that.

feck off.

I'd rather United finish mid table than play him to "prove his value".

Let the kids have a go.

United >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Any player.

Maybe I've missed this but if Rooney's agent told Gill on August 14th that he wanted to leave why does SAF still not know the reason? Has SAF not sat down and talked to Rooney to find out why or is he just not telling what the reason is?

Whatever the reason I think it is a shameful way to treat the club and I am shocked at Rooney especially after saying he wanted to stay for life not long ago. Maybe his wife is insisting on a break from England to save the marriage?

Have to say those comments from mourinho are a touch of class. Compare and contrast his relationship with ferguson to benitez.

If he doesn't want to play for United, he shouldn't play for United.

Also, why give him the chance to recapture his form if he is about to head off to City or Chelsea? Pointless

Like I've said in other threads, IF it's just personal problems things may settle down in a few months time and he'll happily sign a new contract. I'm sure most of us have been in a dark place where we're not thinking clearly for a while, and I'm hoping that's all that's happening here. That's why I'm hoping the fans don't get on his back too much until we know more about what the hell is going on.
He said he wanted away in the summer!

some posters are probably meaning that Rooney is as good as gone now. Everything he has done to the club and SAF has shown that he does not give a shite about United or SAF.

But we have no factual information on the situation except that he wants to leave. So what is this based on? How do we know he doesn't give a shite?

We don't. All we have is speculation.....and to think how people on here (justifiably so) slap down any media story with no factual base....

So how about we wait for the evidence to be presented before he's convicted and hung, eh?

did you not watch the press conference with SAF at all?

SAF has never spoken like this about any other player and we have never seen him like this about a player's contract negotiations before.

if anything, the silence from Rooney's camp is telling enough. Not to mention everything that happened at the press conference.

I'd like to believe the guy who manages our football team. The guy who Rooney should be listening to and learning from. I have no reason not to believe Fergie. No evidence needed to make me believe him. If evidence pops up against what he said then we'll see.

Agree with this and the post after.

He said in his MUTV interview that he asked for a meeting and Rooney repeated to him personally that he wished to go. I can't see Coleen wishing to leave the area as her sister whom she is close to is very ill, so that leaves City and Liverpool, so it looks like City, my thoughts entirely of course

The more I think about this the more I'm starting to think we should have seen it happening.

Rooney's angry, short-tempered and temperamental, he betrayed his childhood club, he betrayed his wife and he's thick as shit.

He talked a good game though. Had me fooled definitely.

What a ridiculous comment. All we know for a fact is that he doesn't want to play for the club anymore. We have no idea about anything else.

So, what? Anyone who doesn't want to see out his entire career at United doesn't deserve to play here in the first place? We shouldn't give a feck about any player that decides he wants a change or a new challenge or simply can't deal with the current situation?

Riiiight.

you're not alone, he got almost all of us pretty damn good

Mourinhio couldnt make it more obvious he wants this job after Fergies gone:

"I think Rooney should stay there for life, he belongs to Manchester United, t Sir alex Ferguson, to the fans"

"I like Manchester United, i like Sir Alex i Like Rooney, id love to work with Rooney but believe he should and will stay at United".

Agent Jose, work your magic, give Wayne a call.

Largely unreported amid Rooney chaos was (genuine) ankle injury sustained in training today in challenge with ... Scholes

No doubt he has a track record for this sort of behaviour
