And they sold Ibra one year later because he didn't work out. Should we fork over large sums of cash, and then sell them for substantially lower fees one year later? Valencia was bought for much less than Ibra but had a greater impact on our team. Why not?
Makes no difference really, they buy Ibra/Villa without selling a player for a world record fee and we buy Hernandez and Valencia, still not helping your argument.
In the immortal words of Christine Keeler 'he would say that wouldn't he?'. He may even believe it. But I think it's all about the dosh.
Not really, they're just serving their own agendas at the expense of the club's situation re: Rooney, hoping to find a few spastics to side with them here.As anti Glazer as I am do we really need this today

The reason for Rooney wanting out is obvious - Stretford has persuded him it's his last chance to get a huge pot of money before Euefa clamp down next year. And Stretford realizes that Rooney has peaked and it's HIS last chance of a mega pension pot. Simples.
I'm not saying that it isn't the case, but if Rooney spouts that as his reason for leaving and anyone swallows it as the truth and calls him a hero for doing it then they are complete suckers.
Well obviously, he's certainly no hero no matter what he says, as far as I'm concerned.
If they are indeed his genuine reasons for wanting away, I'd have to say we can have few complaints, really.
Any self-respecting football club would attempt to fill the void in quality left by two superb player's like Ronaldo and Tevez, the fact we didn't suggest something is amiss. When we didn't invest the Ronaldo money, I'm sure it's not just the supporters who had alarm bells ringing in their ears.

Hearing that there will be a statement from Wayne Rooney later today #mufc
Not interested in what he's got to say until we've got this important game out of the way.
Quite simply it's not relevant because it would have been perfectly understandable for his camp to say that in the first place. If as heavily speculated Rooney's statement says something about a lack of ambition, how is it NOT relevant to take it as face value?
If they were his genuine reasons for wanting away, he'd have wanted away 6 months ago when instead he was saying he wants to sign for life and try and emulate Giggs.
How can you suggest that anyone is happy?
FFS people this is linked to the Glazers. Even if you're saying it's all about money, that's linked to the Glazers, because there's potential that we can't keep up with other clubs wages because of the Glazers.
The feck are you on? They bought Villa and (pretty much) offloaded Ibra. They bought Ibra when Eto'o wanted to go. Henry when Ronaldinho wanted to go etc.
Real Madrid are an exception, they always have been, they just buy and buy and buy and give a feck as to whether a player they spent mammoth amounts on the previous season deteriorates or not, City are going in that direction too.
Seriously, who could we possibly have replaced Ronaldo with? Has Valencia not been excellent since he arrived here? You can't just buy a direct replacement for the worlds best player for feck sake, it's not plausible.

So if he fecks off to City for £200k+ a week wages that is the Glazers fault? Those fecking cnuts wouldn't break our wage structure to match the Arabs with infinitely deep pockets!!!!!

Someone said if there's a difference between 30 mil and 40 mil. There's a fecking huge difference, and you can push on in your lifestyle choice. Rooneys a cracking player, not best in the world, but he's up with the top and if LIKE HAS BEEN SUGGESTED he's leaving for lack of ambition then it needs to be looked at. Is what he saying true? Or is he just a money grabbing prick (possibly it's a mixture of both). You can say all you want it's a prickish move to do, and yes it is, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have anything to do with the club.
We've had a few people say the lack of investment could be detrimental to the squad, and now here it is, proof that yes, that could be right. You can't keep burying your head in the sand because EVERY bit of news like this is linked to the ownership of the club.
But now you're doing what ifs. The fact is whilst we're the most successful club of the last decade in England, we have no earners in the top ten earners of the premier league, and our star player is potentially fecking off either according to people here, for money, or because of lack of ambition. That is linked directly to the boardroom level. Whether it's the Glazers fault, it's definitely a link. Could we have satisfied Rooney right now witht he Red Knights? Or the old board. It's a question which could be done with being answered.
Do you think we should start doubling the wages of the highest paid players in football, all for the sake of him?
Collymore has heard the deal is 500k per week. Crerand is hearing it is 300k.
No actual business, PLC or otherwise, debt or otherwise, would pay that and break their wage structure.
Plaything for an oil magnate? Yes. Actual business meant to run to some semblance of a business model? No.
You're going to actually fall for his pathetic little excuse, as he lines his pockets in an unprecedented way in the history of football.
So this 25% sell-on clause ... is that a fact?
Do you think we should start doubling the wages of the highest paid players in football, all for the sake of him?
The cnut is going to turn this into a public dirty laundry show. Sure, on his day he is one hack of a great footballer but the last weeks have shown him to be a human being of the lowest common denominator. I dont see what he can say that will in anyway rectify his now train wrecked personal reputation.
However, I now know how Spurs fans felt after Berbatov left, Or Arsenal fans after Sol Cambells betrayal.
Shit happens, under SAF we have pretty much experienced every situation and emotion football can offer .... and yet there has only ever been one certainty whilst under SAF ... and that is that we find a way back and carry on with our traditions of winning in the right way. As long as we have SAF for the next 2 or 3 years, I don't care who stays or leaves, he will find a way.
May he remain in the best of health and continue his reign for many more years.

The answer to the "old board" question is definitely no.
They are the ones who had such strict wage structures in the 1990s, broken by Keane, and even then only very carefully. We were never paying the biggest wages in the world, even when we were a PLC.
We haven't got a clue how much money he's been offered, or what City could potentially offer. You're just assuming.

No player in the history of the game is worth 200k a week, let alone 500k. That kind of money is just beyond ludicrous and is making a mockery of the game.
