Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

I just saw Spurs third goal. What the feck was that? He literally jetted across half the length of the pitch in couple of seconds. I've never seen anything like that. Ridiculous.

Spurs have some player on their hands.

One thing is for sure, Bale will not be at Spurs for much longer.
For sure?

The number of clubs that could afford him can be counted on 2 fingers ... and even that assumes that Spurs don't finish in the top 4 again or do well in the CL.

Bale did feck all against us, and to say hes superior to Nani is ridiculous and just goes to show how british players get hyped up far easier and quicker than certain imports, Nanis been ripping this league up since January, his stats piss all over Bales but its hardly noticed outside of this club.

Bales a great talent and id love him here but hes not better than Nani.

I think its retarded to compare the 2 players but if you were to i dont think its necessarily fair to compare them in terms of output. At United we are very reliant on Nani in terms of creativity as we dont have that many players currently that really find the killer pass. Currently a lot of our attacking play is going through Nani due to a lack of creativity in the centre. At Spurs Modric and Van Der Vaart are equally as involved as Bale so the assists are spread around a bit.

Also bear in mind that United finish higher in the league than Spurs every season so will usually score more goals.

One thing for sure is they both have to be on top of their game for their team to play well. If either struggle, generally their team going forward will struggle. We should just admire the 2 players without comparison and hope that somehow both are in our side some day soon.

Agreed - Spurs aren't in the same position as when Berbatov went at all.

Do you know how long his current deal is Glaston?

Nani has more to his game than Bale. Bale is easier to handle. Not surprising to see people drooling over the new flavour of the month, so what happens when he hits a rough patch of form?
Coentrao is better than both.

I remember all of those posts about a game with Liverpool where Rio kept Torres in his pocket. Then he made both Rio and Vidic look like right fecking amateurs on several occasions.

Strawman argument from you as per usual.

That's not really a strawman. A strawman is when you attack a misrepresentation or exaggeration of an opposing position.

When the opposing position is ejaculating the fact that Bale is currently the second best in the world and the best left sided player in the world their is no misrepresentation in pointing out that he was totally controlled by Rafael. This would suggest he isn't as good as the hyperbole would have us believe.

Sidenote: I find it interesting how the media have stories about players and stick to them. Bale is the great young thing. Rafael is the mistake prone, potential star. Park is the under-praised workman. (Is he really under-praised when every pundit is always telling us he is under-praised?) Like is Banksy really anonymous when everyone knows his pseudonym?

He had a free run at Maicon (and at times Lucio, ridiculously) over and over and over again, Biabiany can't defend (seems to me he can't do anything but run fast, not impressed) and Zanetti would usually be covering that area but was too busy covering up for Muntari. Muntari came off at half time and Bale was much more subdued in the middle-attacking third, but the couple of times he got one on one with Maicon he roasted him again. Strange how often he had the chance to run at Maicon again but fair play he took full advantage.

Lennon tore it up on the other wing too, Pandev as useless defensively as Biabiany.

He's a physical specimen alright.

Shit veiled attempt to having a sly dig at those of us quite capabale of watching 2 games at the same time.

Ignore them, I did the same thing. And I'd do it again I tell you...mwa ha ha ha ha!

Tell you what, it's fecking shit that Spurs are on the same night as us. They are box office entertainment in my view, whatever the result.

Tomorrow we've got the thrilling choice of 'pass-pass-pass-fail' Arsenal or 'we-can-make-six-nil-look-boring' Chelsea. :boring:

I'm assuming for now that Spurs wont finish in the top 4 this season, and bale after getting a taster for Champions League football will want to take his career to the next level. I've no doubt we could afford him, but it might take a substantial amount of our budget.

Bale wont be at Spurs for much longer if he keeps up this current form (which he will IMO as he's always been an amazing talent) good thing for Spurs though is they'll get 30million for him which they will be able to invest without worrying about finding a replacement as both Modric and Van Der Vaart have shown they can both more than excel wide on the left

I can't believe a player out-ran Lucio, who had to change direction and was on a yellow. Ridiculous.

Apologies for the sarcasm, but you can see what I'm getting at.

Yeah it is annoying, this was clearly the tie of the group stages too, no harm in having it open in a stream is there? Especially after their 7 goal warm up game last time.

He does get constantly out paced. Pace is not an attribute he possess. But why you chose to insult me than express your own opinion is beyond me, it's whats wrong with the football forums in my opinion. Unnecessary.

How about now??? :)

They missed Stankovic.

That said, I don't understand how the defenders were that bad tonight. I guess against that much pace it is hard but Lucio and Maicon aren't slouches.

How dare you not sit through our tie v Bursaspor. You and your high and mighty multitabs.

It's not just the jet engine he seems to have attached to his arse that is impressive, for me it's his accurate delivery at pace in a big match situation.

I did sit through it, it was on the tele, and it was dirgey rubbish for the most part.

I'm glad I did have the Gareth Bale Rape-a-thon open on my coffee table to be honest.

I agree with this. Pace isn't hard to come by and can deteriorate quickly. I'm not easily impressed by pace alone, as you might have noticed.

But Bale seems to be intelligent enough and have enough technical skill that he would still be a good player without his pace.

Just saying but, where was Bale against United ?

He definately tore Maicon a new arsehole, but our Rafael had him in his pockets.

Well I did exactly the same. Didn't really see the point missing out on good football when United were crusing through a dire game.

Everyone had a bad game. He can't perform every game.

For sure, yes, because the player himself will push it.
Will he?

In case you haven't noticed Spurs are top of their CL group and look odds-on to reach the knock-out stages.

Dream on sunshine.

It's all about making it intp the competition next season.

Don't do it and he's off

There'll come a time glaston when Bale will realise hes deserving of playing with the elite clubs of europe, he'll realise a player of his ability should be challenging and winning league titles, with all due respect Spurs are a long way away from winning any major titles, you yourself would be thrilled to just finish 4th for example and while thats probably good enough for now it wont always be, and you've no idea how hed react if say a Barcelona/Real Madrid whoever put an offer on the table of enormous figures and said come and play for us.

Id say enjoy him while you can, i don't see him being a Spurs player past next summer.

Fighting for the league and Champions League is always going to be a significant draw to a player at a team who's just fighting to qualify for the CL.

I'm not saying he will push for a move, but if he did he'd have plenty of justification.

That knock-on he did for the third assist reminded me of school days  that's all everyone did to skin the opposition.

Spurs third goal, the way Bale just glides past Lucio like he was a a buffalo sat on his arse was amazing.
